  • We visited our 19th US National Park, Great Sand Dunes National Park, and had a blast climbing up to the top of High Dune and running down it. While the day did not go 100% according to plan, we finished our day with tacos and s'mores at the van, so it doesn't get much better than that!

    marshmallow poll - first you make sure to warm up the mallow then you let it catch fire but quickly blow it out. Then you pull the toasted outside layer off, consume then you reapply what's left of the mallow to the fire and repeat.

    Fun video! Dunes are VERY deceiving. Where I live in Northern Michigan we are surrounded by dunes. They are super fun. Instead of mountains our dune views are Lake Michigan! I am a burnt marshmallow kind of girl! Looking forward to the next adventure! xo

      They are so deceiving, but so much fun! I went to Indiana Sand Dunes as a kid (before it was a national park) and we cannot wait to go back together and run around those and then get into very cold Lake Michigan! Haha
      And burnt marshmallows gals unite! 🙌🏼🔥

    ok friends, couple of things. 1) yours is the second video I've seen recently about the sand dunes, never heard of them before. so we're going to have to put that on our list. 2) so glad to see you do smores correctly!!! They are the BEST with a reese's cup. No other way to do it! And as a bonus, 3) we are big fans of taco tuesday in our house... so good job there too! love the green sauce!

    I gotta go with Burnt marshmallows. And I don't like peanut butter so for me, I always try to make smores with Carmellos or some other delicious sea salt chocolate with Carmel inside. The dunes look great and have been wanting to take the kids there forever. We just did Sleeping Bear Dunes in Michigan recently and they absolutely loved that so I know they'd get a kick out of all the ones there.

    • @AdventuresofAplusK
      @AdventuresofAplusK  Před 4 lety +1

      Not near an ocean! I meant to research how it came to be beforehand, but then totally forgot, but a quick summary is:
      “Streams and creeks flowing out of the San Juan Mountains over millennia carried gravel and sand into shallow lakes in the San Luis Valley. During drought periods, these lakes dried, releasing the sand particles to the action of the wind. Strong prevailing southwesterly winds carry the tiny grains toward the Sangre de Cristos, piling them up against the foothills” There is more to it than that, but I wasn’t sure if I could fit everything in one comment!
