My very first vlog and this was day 1 of our Spiti Ride 2022, on which there are two Royal Enfield Interceptors and two Hero XPulses, and thanks to my slow riding style, I got separated due to my own mistakes and the entire day went in catching up to my friends, Abhinav, Yogesh and Yudhvir. So what was supposed to be a great start of a trip, riding with friends, ended up being mostly a solo ride for me. Where I got severely fatigued due to riding constantly and in the heat.
I got lost by 1pm and I finally caught up to them by 7pm, by then the GoPro was drained, and it started to rain. So I couldn't make anymore videos.
We finally reached Narkanda by 10:50pm! As opposed to 6pm. Yep thanks to me. It sure was a memorable one for me.
This here is me riding on the Himalayan expressway.
The key take away from this experience are the following:
    - Invest in a comm device. Connect it to other riders.
    - Mounting a GPS devices is an absolute must!
    - The timsun tyres performed extremely well on tarmac.
    - Bell is not an ideal helmet for vlogging as too much wind noise comes in and is impossible to remove.
    - A good mesh riding jacket is must! I had a riding jacket, but that was better suited for winter riding, so I was getting cooked from the inside!
    - Lastly, the touring seat is good!

Don't beat yourself up too much, man. You did alright. Next time, a comm device and GPS on the bars. And we are sorted.

Get a tank bag/cover which has transparent upper layer to put ur phone for gps, I put my iPhone there all the time and that’s safe or else get a cheap android phone and install a mount on the handle

Don’t be too hard on yourself man. As a layman, I did get a sense that you drove very well. Also these small fudge-ups are what make the trip memorable. Hahaha.
Loved the video from the 1st day. Looking forward to seeing all the other videos.

So I use a Revit fly 3 gloves and I am pretty happy with them for touring and city ride. True though Bell Qualifier is a mess for touring. Let me know if you got a new helmet just for touring purpose. Cheers! Ride safe.

Just saw your profile on insta. thank you for seeing my videos :) I have got a Bell Eliminator helmet, but the downside of that helmet is that you can't close the vents on it. And I got myself a pair of burnish yellow RE gloves. They are quite nice for riding in summer. Quite comfortable for city ride and light touring. Thank you once again.

Why I never do group rides on a long trip. I'm slow and if I like a spot I will stop and spend any amount of time I wish. In a group that doesn't happen. Of course riding with friends has its perks as well but not for me.

Maybe a base layer instead of cotton t-shirt would help while riding in hot conditions of our country

Yes. Investing in good gear. Now that I am back, I’ll get myself some adequate riding gear that is suited for all seasons. :)

man i am you of my group , i don't ride as fast as other folks in my group and i am not slow , they are just faster. and same thing happened with me in my 2017 spiti trip , my phone got switched off and i didn't remember anybody elses number , so i rode alone from Keeratpur to Delhi on my way back and trying to find my group.

Reality check for a lot of armchair enthusiasts 😀 Something similar happened to me when I signed up for bicycle ride to a lake some 25 miles from my University town. Friend and his wife finished their ride, drove back in their car and picked me up. I just couldn't keep up with their pace 😂

Why the bike feels like a boat(handles) on corners, may be just an illusion

  • @Motoccino

Seriously, go easy on yourself. Anyone who forces you to ride in a zone that's not natural to you - seriously assess if you really want to be in a dynamic like that! Riding is for absolute pleasure and be wary of people who try to create a rat-race construct around this also. The so called fast riders have had multiple spills and falls - so if that's what you want, well.... You ride well, you ride good end of story. Its not a contest.

Thank you for this wisdom and for watching this video. :)
I have to say this stress was self inflicted, as I look up to the riders I was riding with, and didn’t wanted to let them down. But the guys were very supportive and helped me a lot.
