About this van:
Hiro is an incredible self-build VW T5, built by Francesco & Vanessa for their surf adventures as a family of three. The van features two-bed options, stunning interior and some cool little features that improve on the standard VW workshop conversions. The van has a pop-up roof, but when down, functions as a full stealth van, fully hiding the beautiful home inside from any passers-by!

I love your toilet. I'm a landscaper and don't have access to a toilet for most of the day. I carry a basic 5 gallon bucket that I use to squat on and a wide mouth wine carafe for the stand up stuff and take care of nature. As soon as I saw you sitting there I recognized the 'piece of furniture" :0 As they say 'KISS... keep it simple....'

One of the most practical and homely layouts I've ever seen.
I love all the cabinet storage space. It's just me and I don't need a lot of room for a bed and such but really need a lot of storage. Very nice unit, very simple and practical.

I see many great conversions. Been class b RVing for the last 5 years. From Alaska to the Florida Keys. Need a bathroom with tanks for dump station. A US standard. Cassette toilets, no way. That’s the problem with private, maybe very good, conversations. No waterworks!

Hey, nice conversion, looking at a similar layout for mine (also swb t5). Do you not have trouble accessing the pop-top roof bed? as you have the cupboards directly behind the seats?

@@patous1979 Referring to Edward Hughes' comment, as in italian dreaming about converting I can tell that rules are even stricter here (bureaucratic nightmare level). In which country did you get the body type changing/approval? UK or Italy?

We wanted to be stealthy and for this reason, surfboards are always inside as they're shortboards. In the front when we stop and in the "lounge" while traveling! With a longboard, I would have fitted roof racks. Wetsuits are in a washing basin when we cannot hang them. With the cab blocked..guessing you have to get out and then get back in?.which I heard not good for boon docking..because you don't won't people to know you're sleeping in your van.

Like most of the design, except the table, where you have to "hop around" to get into seating position....

Nice build and cool ideas, but unfortunately you wasted all the precious headspace with this layout....
In the UK. That is obviously a camper but if you tried to get it classified as a camper with the DVLA it would not pass the new rules as you cant stand up in it with the pop top down as a pop top dosent count.
I think the DVLA are trying to stop stelth campers.
Not sure how much these new rules matter.. time will tell if guess
It doesn’t mean anything unless you want to register it as a camper. And as long as the van does what you want and you have the correct insurance what’s it matter.
@@tubedarrenI agree although I dont know how it affects the insurance cost and I did see a video where the price of a ferry crossing was half as much because it was a camper. I havent gone into it too much yet as this lock in has put my van buying plans titsup.
Edward Hughes there’s not really anything in it, there are companies out there that will still insure it as a camper even if it isn’t registered as one. In regards to the ferry’s I’m not so such, but I’ve been on the Eurotunnel a few times and the price was the same whether I selected camper van or normal van. In my opinion I would rather have a van exactly how I wish to have it, insured as a modified van rather than something built to meet the DVLA requirements just so it can be registered as a “camper” - ps if you are thinking about getting a VW transporter take a look on my channel I’m always uploading videos of mine. 👍

If you need that much storage in a small van, then you are doing it all wrong. The French used to call them 'camping cars', this is more like a kitchen showroom.
It might be "clean" but crapping and peeing into plastic bags which end up in landfill is not "green"
