- Hi guys, I'll show you how to make these DIY twisted wire rings with copper and brass wire. If you like to make some easy wire jewelry, these rings might be for you. :)

Material I used:
1. 18g round brass wires for brass ring - find similar here : amzn.to/3MnAdOl
2. 20g round copper wire for copper ring - find similar here: amzn.to/3wkt23N
(You could use silver, or aluminum if you like. You could also use artistic wire for practice purposes, but if you like to do the shaping and polishing as in the video, then I’ll only recommend using base metals stated above.)

HI guys, so I've figured out another way to connect the ring and made it with 18g brass wire. I've included the earlier version that I use glue for joining and made with 20g copper wire too. Both wire gauges would work for the design, so it's up to what you'd prefer. :)

Your tutorial is super easy to follow and understand! I do have a question about the gauge you use. A lot of other tutorials I have seen use thinner wire, however, I have problems with keeping the shape of the rings as its too soft. Would using the thickness you use and tools come for a better end result? I am excited to try this tutorial!
Thanks Jessica. :) Yes using thicker wire would make a more sturdy ring. You’ll need tools that have stronger strength to work with thicker gauge wire, like the one I’m using in the video. I have a video explaining what tools to use, head to my channel and check it out if you like. Happy making!

The process
Gorgeous.. would it look ok if you connected but looping over and curling down instead of under and curl up?
Hi Gabriela, I think it would. Just be sure the wire end that tuck in down below is smooth so it wouldn’t scratch the finger. Another reason I have the wire curl it up so the the circle is actually resting on the wire and have better support. Let me know how it turn out for you if you try the way you mentioned. :)

Hi Christina, I bought mine from a local craft store. You could try using gorilla glue, but I still think I’d prefer the interlocking method, it’s very sturdy.

Thank you Joyce…! :) It depends which steps. To flatten the wire, use metal head. For shaping the ring on mandrel use plastic/rawhide/nylon. Just exactly shown in this video. Happy making ✨

Hi Maggie- Do you like to use brass and copper with the anti tarnish coating, or just the raw brass or copper? I’m looking to have something last as long as possible without it tarnishing. If you use the tarnish-resistant kind, do you feel that the coating gets rubbed off when using a polishing cloth? (Either when straightening the wire at the beginning, or cleaning it later on) Thanks in advance!!
I like using both raw brass and copper, because they are most widely available and have that nice colours. It’s natural that they tarnish over time. The coated ones are great for projects that doesn’t need sanding and shaping. The coating would stay if you are polishing it with a polishing cloth. But the coating might come off if it is scratch by tools.

Yes you could, but be very gentle on the hammering and polishing part. Use only 1000 grits sand paper because you want to preserve the gold layer as much as possible. (The end result may not be the same too.)
Hey do you put anything on your brass to prevent tarnishing and oxidation after sanding? Do you have any suggestions?
Indeed I don’t, I’ll just give it a polish before and after wearing and put them in a zip tight bag. To make brass jewelry more tarnish resistant, you can use renaissance wax for polishing, it’d remain good til the coat worn out.

Thanks Sandra! That’s the circumference for making the 2 circles, one in 8mm and the other 5mm. You can change it accordingly if you are making different size circles.

I honour handmade items but the more the creativity and the originality behind it. I really encourage you guys to give the designs a tweak rather than just taking it as it is. Of course there are some universal designs in my channel too where there’s no copyright issue at all. Im hoping that my channel would help makers to learn and grow in making as well as in designing. You can try using drilled stone and thinner wire and wrap it in onto the ring.
