    Hey Femke,
    Just wanted to tell you that I got my first UX Designer job at a product-based company. I applied all of the methods you told me in this video and It was bang on. They loved everything. This is a heartfelt thank you from a person who changed his career from QA to Designing in his early 30's. I was applying for most of the companies but there were always some flaws. But this time I worked on those & it went smooth like butter. Keep making such contents and keep growing.
    Thank you for the guidance

    I love Femke's content because she gets right down into the good stuff without click baiting people. This could've easily become a 10-minute life lesson with a bit of design thinking lecturing, but she made it actually about the assignment and only that. Keep up the good work!

    I found this extremely useful Femke, thank you. I found it very interesting that Uber responded well to your presentation being focussed on empathy and a deep focus on the user's perspective rather than the UI. It encourages me to believe that I could also get into the industry in a company as prestigious as Uber with a skillset devoted to UX rather than UI and expert software skills. (:

  • @CharleneDandelion
    @CharleneDandelion Před rokem

    Followed this tutorial and definitely was very satisfied with my presentation, my second interview went really well. I, unfortunately, didn't get hired because I showed too little research (IDK how much more research they want in these 8 hours, I already did more than Femke here) and they assumed I didn't do ANY desk research or any research that got me the insights I showed in the presentation ( like the goals, needs). Yes, I know, quite weird to have 2 ux designers make this assumption about me when they did have the opportunity to ask me what I did for (desk) research to come to these insights.
    This presentation is perfect, the flow and order are great and clear. I think for some companies, it would be better to show more of the process before like the desk research. Even if they ask you to present the project like they were clients.
    IDK maybe the company I applied to was just weird. But it can't hurt to add more text and more process EVEN if you think a client would not understand or value it, in the end you will be judged by them as a ux designer/lead, not them as client!).
    Learned a lot from this video and will keep using this format for future assignments. But I learned that I should focus less about the presentation audience and ignore that brief a bit, and focus more on my personal presentation to them as ux designers. Unfortunately!

    • @femkedesign
      @femkedesign  Před rokem

      Sorry to hear you didn't make it through to the next round, but it sounds like you really put a lot of effort and consideration into your presentation! That's a shame that it was the research that let you down when, I agree you don't get much time. Hope you find something!

    It's really insightful, detailed and helpful to show what's the process it is. Which allow a new beginner to learn how to start and what need to address, and possibility to skip first for time matter.
    I haven't seen any video show such thoroughly content both combine theoretically thinking and practical process within 10 mins.
    Thanks for sharing your experience and hand notes. I'm excited to see more video that involve practical process of product design. (or talk in deep about what's the challenge and decision you made in the end)
    One question I wanna ask is whether it's a regular pace for a company only allows designers to spend within 8 hrs on a similar task (in the product design early stage)?
