I gave up deep anger differently. Ram Dass in 42 minutes says "when anger came up he would go into devotional practices and just let go, and the same anger came up again." I did this for months during Meta Meditation and there would be a tightness in my throat and chest. I kept meditating on the feeling until one day during meta-mediation I had a vision that I fell to the ground from being so exhausted from this feeling burdening me, and my dad caught me in his arms and he said. "Its time to forgive your mum for belting you and controlling you as a child". I was so exhausted from hate and anger towards my mum that I had to forgive her. I cried and cried and cried and I forgave my mum and I loved her. I learned my lesson that anger can be so deep that it stops you from loving, feeling love, and experiencing the divine of being connected to the divine in all beings. Today I had several breakthroughs in my anger like that and I now walk around with an open heart.

I grew up in church and heard thousands of sermons. I went to seminary and heard more sermons and lectures. Then I went to college and listened to hundreds more lectures, talks, speeches (which is what a sermon is)....this is *easily* and by far the most profound of them all. The most truth-FULL. The most impactful. The one most full of LOVE.
Paraphrasing, not sure the source but what you wrote reminded me-Truth without compassion is tyranny.

i recently lost my beloved healthy husband of 38 years years suddenly to Covid. I had been listening to Ram Dass' lectures over the past year, as though in preparation for this. I am well without resistance, surrendered, embracing everything, even grateful for the opportunity to commit to finding my life's purpose. When I wonder how I can be so after the loss of my beloved, i turn to this talk... "what truly connected you to that person at the deepest level was that quality of identity in the quality of love, where can it go?"

I listen to one of these lectures every morning. No matter how many times I come back to this one it still tickles my heart in the most, as Ram Dass might say, delicious way. :)
I broke down several times during this, complete explosions of emotion
it is because it causes you to realize deep truths you already knew deep down ,but had never quite "heard" expressed.
It happened to me that way, too. I met someone who had that key and unlocked things in me -- and my key in him -- which I thought were dead or non-existant within. Everything Ram Dass describes in this talk is what I witnessed and moved through, and am still moving through. What an ocean I am navigating. :)

One day youll be watching a sunset and you'll be thinking about the person you lost and you'll come to realize that the love you had with that peraon is still there, and at that moment you will start to make the break between the vehicle for coming into the love and the essence or the method and the essence and then you'll realize that what truly coneccted you to that person at the depest level was that quality of identity in the quality of love, where can it go?

By far my favorite of his talks.
The path has been before me, but it has been unclear...patchy and broken. The title of the lecture drew me in; his words and the words of others brought clarity and confirmation that what I've felt is my direction is true.
The path had always been true, now my feet are confident and my being knows the way.

One of my absolute favourite RD talks! Surrender is the pre-requisite for love. If we cannot let go of someone then we can only cling and in this tightness, love transforms into something else. Our surrender allows the beloved the space to grow which they then bestow on us. In my experience there is always a pulse of attachment, then surrender, attachment then surrender. In this way, we become loose enough in our attachment until we can love deeply, without clinging. So there's nothing wrong with getting attached as long as one is doing the work to free oneself from that attachment with the pulse of attachment then surrender. Love.

When love beckons to you, follow him,
Though his ways are hard and steep.
And when his wings enfold you yield to
him,
Though the sword hidden among his

Though his voice may shatter your dreams

I occasionaly listen to great thinkers like Terence and Watts. Although when you actually listen to what he is saying, you might think he is much less impressive compared intellectually, but Dass' energy and the wisdom he imparts while he's speaking evokes so much.
I'm a great fan of Alan Watts. They all have their contributions, some speak more to some, others to others. They're all impressive for who is open to being impressed:)
Baba Ram Dass, you shed light on the darkness that shrouds humanity's ability to gain enlightenment and to awaken.... you have most definitely fulfilled at least one purpose during this lifetime. Maybe I have been you before & you have been me.... I the teacher & you the student! But as of now, all I can do is thank you for sharing your wisdom!!!! I love the part @ 37:00 where Ram Dass lets his anger free. I laughed .. Thank you Ram Dass for your stories! They help me through my live! It is interesting that the numbers i most admire 3 and 7 (because it is the date of my birth) are the numbers of the minutes of the nicest part of this video (for me). Also interessting is that the square sum of the first numberst of the lenght of the whole video are 3 and the seconds are 7 = 111:07 = 3 and 7 ☺

I recently noticed my path is now exposing itself so I can do to it what it has helped me to do to myself, lol. So my committed way is self destructing, thank goodness, lol.
