Island hopping in Sulu... what a beautiful experience! We left Patikul by boat, and made our way across the sea to the island Municipality of Hadji Panglima Tahil. This Municipality has only five Barangays. The sandy ring like island Barangay of Bangas, was our first stop... and the place I will forever of had my first "Oko' Oko". The Tausugs cook sea urchins with rice in a unique mix that is then put back in the shell. It was delicious!
Seaweed is a big industry in this part of the Philippines, and I saw a lot of it as we walked around. After soaking up island community vibes, learning a bit about boats, and trekking to some amazing views...
It was off to Bubuan Island!
BEAUTIFUL. That is all that needs to be said about this island. Not only does the white sandy coast mesmerize you... but the lush green vegetation and ocean river way left me breathless. One of the most beautiful islands I have been to in the Philippines.

When I went to the Philippines with my filipina wife, we were told to NOT step foot in Mindanao AND to be extremelly careful everywhere else in the Philippines. Well, it was totally the opposite of what we were told. Now looking back, the people that told us these things haven't been to the Phillipines in a long time and/or all they do is watch too much TV. We loved it and will be returning again!

I used to work in Jolo and seeing your videos made me feel nostalgic. It's nice to see Sulu developing. I hope one day I'll be able to visit Sulu again. Mindanao the 3rd geographical area and Sulu’s remote areas is the best. Rich in History and Culture. Previously it maybe dangerous but that helps protected the areas, still pristine. Sulu the last frontier is Paradise and wish they’ll keep it as pristine not modern. Just like now. It’s the natural beauty that keep it attractive. Tourists are searching places like uninhabited, peace and quite. Just keep all the areas clean, safe from health hazard, most of all cottages should look like the Ethnic houses. Tourists will explore not only the beaches but the communities, people and Ethnic way of life and traditions.

Natural paradise beach of Sulu, it is so amazing to see how beautyful it is, knowing it has negative past in it but you will see how this land, beaches, food, the culture the people makes it more attractive to come and explore Sulu, hopefully when the time comes tourist may visits, it will not destroy what these majestic nature it has and preserve it for what it is and not build it it with establishments and polluting it with wastes. . power on!
The serene beauty of the island of Sulu is magestic! It's like so peaceful and you just want to go there and forget the noise of the city, unwind and one with the nature! The boats are so unique! I hope someone studies those. I've never seen those "wave breakers" anywhere else. The name katig/kyatig is just a generic term meaning "outrigger [boat]" in Central Philippine Languages (Tausug is actually a Visayan language, closely related to Surigaonon and Butuanon).
Agree, ,during early 90s , ,I been in Sangali fishport, locals are speaking tausog thier and some are chavacano, , only I'm curious that tausog like most same on Cebuano words with the same meaning, , since I am from Davao but been in Cebu before going to Zamboanga

This is just beautiful. As Kulas said in the last video, still need to coordinate with the tourism office. They have marine escorts with them. I long for the day that we can go there without needing one.
I believe many Filipino tourists are going now... they are with tour guides. No police escorts. Being a foreign national, and with a DOT Usec, we were with them.
@@BecomingFilipino that is excellent! I'm from Zamboanga Sibugay and there were some tourist spots in our province before that we also needed police escorts back in the early 2000's but not anymore. And I'm glad it's the same Sulu!
