Does the base even charge the brush when not cable-connected? I've heard it doesn't and simply doesn't make sense for the now detachable wire if you cannot charge the base, then disconnect, and use said base as standalone charger for the brush . . .

Yeah I opted for the io 9 because I think the 10 is overpriced, the 9 and 10 are the same other than the charger, you can get the info that you could get using the io sense stand in the app.
I bought one 3 weeks ago for $499au and the change in how my teeth feel is worth every cent. My teeth feel so clean and I’m no longer having bleeding gums. Of course it’s expensive and I don’t under why the price is so high, but I can say I would buy it again if I had to.
A non-replaceable battery in these Oral-B toothbrushes can easily last 10 years if well taken care of (keep charge between 20%-80%), so I think it's less of an issue compared to most smart phones where you're lucky to get 3 years out of them.
I got mine on Nov 3rd and I'm glad i did because before that i was really considering getting the IO 10 then it was released and realized it's not worth it. I got mine for around 200$ 50% off (400$ original price)

What I actually did was the opposite. More context on my previous reply, but having already looked up the price of the IO 10, I looked at the main complaints of the video, and after seeing that it is just about the price, which is totally inaccurate, I immediately considered the iO 10. (Like I already said, I ordered a IO 5 just a few days prior, so I will only buy it after 2~ years.)

The stand itself has no battery. But you don't have to keep it connected to power. You could connect each time you brush or every so often. Depending on what you do might affect usability.

You need to have the charging stand plugged in every time you use the brush if you want the clock/lights/timer to be functioning. You don't have to have it plugged in between uses if you don't want to. But, it is designed to be plugged in all the time. You would need it plugged in for longer periods of time every couple of weeks to recharge the battery inside the iO10 brush handle.

The Oral B IO Series 9 & 10 Position detection has 16 zones instead of 6 zones. Maybe Oral B could create an Oral B IO Series 11 that would have a pacer with 16 zone pacer. That way a users would focus and take time on different tooth surfaces.
That's pretty much software based, so I think they could implement this on other bluetooth enabled models with a firmware update. However, I do want Oral-B to make a IO sense retrofit for other models.

However, I do have a idea for a IO 11. Include a larger touch display that also shows the 3d live tracking and more. Keep the IO sense but also sell it as a accessory add-on for the series 9 and below. In addition, I also suggest a series 2 and 1. The 1 would only have daily clean, 2 would also have sensitive but are otherwise identical to the 3.

However the Pro Series 4000 to 10,000 have bluetooth, while the 1000, 2000, and 3000 have no blue tooth. While to Series models 4 to 10 have bluetooth, while the series 3 model doesn't have bluetooth. So a Series 1 and Series 2 model won't have bluetooth either.

Haha you are right. There's a select few of us who wish they did. 😂 Sometimes we do get suggestions of new stuff coming. But truthfully they can't really clean your teeth that much better. Best to pick form what's available now rather than worry too much about what's coming. If we don't we will forever be waiting. 😁

OK I have checked. Go to 'Devices'> scroll to the bottom and you have 'Preferences' under a heading your brushing system> it should then be at the top of the page when you click that preferences option.
There isn't any easy way to tell for sure. We don't have data to say confidently one way or the other. Oral-B and Sonicare tend to be fairly reliable. Both have problems form time to time but they are the biggest brands so it's inevitable. Probably get slightly fewer complaints about Oral-B.

It doesn't account for this. It assumes you have them all. It's not a massive issue as you pass the brush over a gap etc, you can give it the impression you are brushing the missing tooth. This might be more difficult if you have lots of teeth missing.
more like my adhd needs it. the visual timer, the colors and zones. Not needing to pull out my phone to brush teeth which would be an extra step to not doing it. Still super expensive though.@@ElectricTeeth
I had had one for 10 months and it DIED on me. It will charge all night and say 100% battery on it and it dies before 2 minutes of use, and goes completly to 0% charge. So cool app, cool charger but yes Expensive and it onlz lasted 10 months . :(

The 4,5, and 6, don't use lithium batteries or the magnetic charger.

No toothbrush cases have batteries inside. But, the better ones have USB-C ports rather than the proprietary adapter like Oral-B

I guess this really varies by person, but the fact that io9 is almost twice as loud as io10 alone could justify the price difference for me.

6 sections pacer actually makes a users teeth feel and look cleaner than a 4 quadrant pacer. Since it actually adds more time to clean tooth surfaces.

4 sections at 30 seconds each = 120 seconds/2 minutes

Sorry to read this. It should be covered under warranty. Get in contact with Oral-B and they should replace/repair for you.
This happened to my io8 too! Amazon/Braun replaced it upgrading to an io9, let's see how long this lasts!
