When I was 8yrs old, a friend brought a small catalog to school. I wanted so much to own a dinky toys. This was the mid 1970s. They were so expensive back then. I didn't dare ask my parents to buy them. Wish I get one. Oh well.

Nice work on all of these! You've made yourself a top collection of 'color accurate' Dinky vehicles. Any one of them could easily be mistaken for factory finish originals. Love 'em all , especially the UFO related stuff. Straker's car is the balls! Fantastic stuff all around.

Really nice work - I fancy doing some of this myself as I often see these things at car boot sales. The mobile and the cars do look very good with the proper colour paint applied.
Dinky were very strange with colours. Not doing the Eagles in white, but blue and green saying kids prefer their colours, then making the max security car white. I reckon they had job lots of odd coloured paint they wanted to use up. Nice work by the way mate.
-As a kid I would've killed for a few certain vehicles from 'Century 21', Gerry Anderson shows. Such as the Spectrum Patrol Vehicle or tank from Capt.Scarlet, the cars & submarine/jet from Journey To The Far Side of the Sun & UFO, some other vehicles from The Thunderbirds, Fireball XL-5 & Stingray. We were then, & I still am nuts for those shows.
I still own a few of these in original condition like you . I never managed to get the Eagle though...always wanted one. Your restos look fabulous . better than new!
I love the Interceptor. It just looks right to me (a toy as opposed to a full on scale replica). Those orange gear skids really are a nice eye catch. All of the restorations look great IMHO.

Dinky made some strange colour choices after making such nice molds.
Hi mate. Been a while since I did these so can't recall exactly. I always use car paints so go to your local car repairs or supply shop and check along the rack until you spot one that looks about right. I think I used something like Ford Arctic Blue...possibly something like that. Good luck

I still have the Shado mobile ,masked off the stickers and sprayed it grey. Have an Eagle freighter in good condition but a toy dealer had my silver version of Sams car in a deal I regret lol. The MSV is sweet, still have mine but I put the gold somewhere and lost it. Many years ago had a plastic one in a cereal box. Another great video buddy nice one.
Good collection but wish the music was turned down a bit so i can hear you better , and ive a shadow 2 but repainted in dinky green

always bugged me the Interceptor and eagle were green.they were white on TV.
its like they had a surplus of green paint left over from the TB2 and slapped it on everything. as a kid, I loved the Interceptor, but the color was wrong.
Orlando SWOPS agreed! Felt the same way, I had a blue Thunderbird 2 as well, ffs.
i had all of these as a kid would be worth a small fortune now boxed
My die cast eagle was a prized possession when I was a kid.
Dinky's Straker car was gold colour

The Shado 2 vehicle was done in blue by Dinky as well as green, but it's a rare version to get hold of.
Living in America makes an interest in these costly. I have an SPV, MPV, Shado 2, TB 2 and Fab 1 (got lucky with that one). Mostly had to deal with Canada. But consider the Ed Straker's in a decent form is $430 on eBay now!

I did not know that Dinky made Straker's car. I have to find it one day.
Excellent little video! Very enjoyable. I have also done the same sort of thing with a SHADO mobile (adding a few details like exhaust, etc.) an SPV, SPC, and Interceptor.
As you comment, even bashed up incomplete examples are being sold as "vintage collectables" (eh? Vintage = 50 years old by the definition, I thought) for silly money. It is still possible to get the odd one now and then to super-detail for a reasonable price but it is a real effort.

I've still got 'Sam's car' which I got for my birthday in 1969....it's got no tyres left but I've always kept it! Why did Dinky make the UFO Intercepter green?

I've restored 3 Eagles, found a great die casting place online for the thrusters etc and after stripping and respraying they look great. I did paint the doors white to make them look like the show. I have a Shado mobile unrestored (but have replacement rocket and tracks) what blue paint did you use?

you do understand that if you strip off the original paint, no matter how damaged it was, you DESTROY it's resale value
you can pick up a Spectrum MSV for $10, U.F.O Interceptor for $25, & Shado 2 for $15 with not not much of a value. it's fun to restore them. a MIB Interceptor goes for $250, others go for more.
The music spoils this.
Love your videos mate, I had/still have a eagle as a 70's Xmas present and couldn't put it down, but c'mon dinky that green colour, lol
