      I think it's noteworthy that Lawes isn't seen doing any leadership in this video; it's all Farrell. Lawes might have had the c next to his name (for what I can only assume were racially motivated reasons - that's the only thing that makes any sense despite how appalling it is), but Farrell was the real captain.

    It’s a good series win. However, you look at went right and what went wrong. Not being to beat a 14 man opposition; lack of consistent penetration from the backs. You could say that this is because of lack of team together - but that’s inevitable with a national team. As a team, Ireland have a year or so more experience as a fairly settled team - but we are kidding ourselves if we think England could match the flair and set plays that z Ireland showed.
    I’m not good enough to tell you where the issues lie; coaching? Players? - I don’t know but what we can all see is that the product is not advancing. We were told a year or so ago that it’s all coming together; be patient etc. - but I see little advancement. Good that new backs got some experience on tour and they may well be part of the future - but how many games before the WC? 3 in the Autumn? 5 in the Six Nations? Even if they all play all 90 minutes, it may not be enough - we don’t expect the 5 very good teams (sorry Wales, Scotland and Italy) to just turn up as cannon fodder; they have got their on issues of one kind or another and will love to dismantle England and ruin any form of confidence.
    Sorry, if all this reads as pure negative. There’s a balance between being positive and gaining confidence and fooling yourself.

    I’m afraid this has papered over some v familiar cracks, which after 3 yrs Jones has still failed to bridge. Great result for England to win away after such a poor 1 st test and 6 nations. Front row did well, second row , Itoje as expected almost hill average, chessum same. Back row lawes outstanding, bv ok for a change, Ludlum same as rwc shows promise, still only got one 9, others past it. Smith Farrell, need staggering amount of possession to score tries. Farrell is our slowest back him and new 13, Defense looked really poor. Marchant is our current best centre but can’t get picked, no real wingers, nowell is great until he’s run at by a speedster. 15 is quality.
    Makes me wonder how much injury and generally Aussies not playing that well actually led to our success.
    They need to improve in attack a lot to justify Jones leadership going forward.
    Blood baerberry, drop vunipolos fir good, don’t play old 9a they’re not the future.

    • @joeboonmusic4004
      @joeboonmusic4004 Před 2 lety +4

      I agree with your positives but I think you're being overwhelmingly negative... Hill looks like a starting lock now, he and Itoje will make a mean combo; Billy V looked back to his best, far more than okay and England have Dombrandt AND Barbeary on his heels at 8; definitely more than one 9... JVP was one of the great finds of the tournament, plus Randall, Quirke and Mitchell are exciting prospects too (Mitchell was pretty much the player of the premiership). The Farrell/Smith partnership has been trialled for about 4 games and they've got better each time, that partnership is showing great promise. Sure Farrell isn't a power/pace centre like Tuilagi (who may be selected for the next WC) but he is a fantastic distributor and playmaker. He and Smith will keep the opposition guessing at all times. With a powerful strike runner like Marchant, our midfield will be great. He has been getting picked, just not in the last 2 games. Not sure how on earth you can say we don't have any 'real winger's... Freeman and Arundell are extremely exciting players, whilst Nowell is possibly the best defensive winger in the world. Discounting that, England also have May coming back from injury AND world class wingers in the making like Ollie Hassell-Collins and Louis Lynagh. No wingers my arse! Look at the positives, this is just a moan... If you're not going to get behind the team, why bother watching?

    • @mygoogle1482
      @mygoogle1482 Před 2 lety

      @@joeboonmusic4004 I like all the players you’ve mentioned but how many were on tour and played any length of game time? How is barbearry anywhere? He was in squad all through 6 ns zero game time. Randall quirke indeed great but both stopped for care??. I think smith is potentially exceptional but we required a lot of ball to score the tries we did. We’ve only so long left to Rwc so marchant being dropped for two games now is again not a good way to build the right formula. Freeman has had one good game, we shall see, arundell looks to the manor born. But with v limited game time. Itoje hill doesn’t give us what lawes Itoje would or what Itoje and others have bought. I can see the hope you’re clutching at and you’re right to point the potential out, as I agree with much of it. But this was an important to win for morale which must be low after successive 6N debacles. We still haven’t got two new 9s, no established midfield and inexperienced speedsters (so we do t really know about them). Two facts Australia had a lot of injuries and we just scrapped home. I’m basing things on reality of current situation not my hope for the future. I’m delighted our props are focussed on tight work not being cool with ball, again though that’s against the scrummaging might of.Australia. Sorry to be a realist, definitely hold onto your hope. I’ve great faith in our talent, other than the coaches ability to maximise their potential.

      @@joeboonmusic4004 btw- when bv was at his best he was our best player forward or back, he’s not playing at that level. As for the world class wingers in the making, now I see why they call us the arrogant English- How can u possibly know they’re world class, when they’ve around 15 mins between them at test level. Your arse must have a crystal ball stuffed up it.

      @@mygoogle1482 What I mean is those players are waiting in the ranks to come into the squad, just like JVP/Freeman had been. Care was brought in, I imagine, for some experience to impart to JVP/Randall, as tests are about just that: experience. I get what you mean about Marchant, I think Porter looked a little shakey in the 3rd test, not sure why Marchant wasn't there but EJ clearly likes him as a player... Almost guarantee he's a starter come the WC.
      Freeman has only had 2 proper test matches with England so he'll need time, but looks great. Arundell had very little game time apparently because he hasn't yet trained for the full 80 at test level but I agree, would've been nice to see him come on sooner than he did! For sure I think Lawes brings a lot at lock but I think he brings more in the back row, if it ain't broke and all that. Hill is only getting better!
      I would say the midfield is the big thing to work on, I think the best we've played has been with Marchant in there so I'd like to see him with Farrell, personally.
      I definitely appreciate what you're saying, there's obviously work to be done, but we're definitely in a much better spot now, you can see what EJ is starting to build. The forwards were the stars for most of this series honestly, but we know we have the talent in the backs... Come the WC I'd love to see a backline of: JVP, Smith, Arundell, Farrell, Marchant, Lynagh/OHC, Steward, we shall see what happens!
      Oh also people have gone quiet about Dan Kelly, I was hoping to see him in this series honestly! Seems like our most likely powerful centre along with Ollie Lawrence.
