That kind of trap is called a "figure 4" trap. I first saw it in the 60s in a THEN vintage woodcraft book from the 30s or 40s called "Wildwood Wisdom". (Sorry, but I can't remember the author's name.)

Glad to see you covering traps more. A good working knowledge of traps is really the most time-efficient way to gather proteins. My first instructor was very keen on traps as such, even aquatic traps like the Cherokee fish trap and the basket-weave. Your traps are working for you while you are doing other important stuff like water and shelter.

Miss Lilly, I have this suggestion for several videos. Many people use just one to two knots over and over. What I suggest is a weekly short show on different knots, tying them and when a knot should be used. That in itself should give you 20+ shows. The knowledge is easy to find and many people overlook this. Have a good day. I hope this helps some.

Lilly I watched your videos with Canadian prepped and you drank brown silty river water. If you add a little alum to the water it attracts the film in the water and it all sinks to the bottom of the pot after a little while. Then boil your water and you are good to go.

Young Lady, You need a survival ax( tomahawk) or saw. Many things you do is above what any knife can do. I am not saying anything bad about you. But in survival mode you would not use a knife like you do. It is to valuable a tool. (Scout and out door nerd here). I have been here from when you were a "wild Woman" running thru the woods. Your growth has been amazing. Just a option you may not have thought about. Stay safe.

Outstanding! Lilly, please look at the Mojave Scissor Trap as well. I agree about human scent needing to be minimized, as one comment mentions. Apparently rubbing our hands with charcoal first helps. Tom McElroy shares that trick in his video on Northeast US survival. By the way, I wonder if an Atlatl throwing stick could launch bolas faster than just by hand?

Hi Lilly! I loved your channel Ssoooo much I watched it all the time, especially listening to your stories it’s so interesting, but where did you see that rat?..its so big yum yum I don’t think in Viet Nam we have enough foods for the rat grow that big, under communists ruled Viet Nam is very poor country we ate every living things is moving, I don’t even think there’s any animals till live in any communists countries in the world, sometimes they are eat each other for survival liked zombies, that why don’t be surprise in Viet Nam many people who are in deeply sleep when they wake up in the morning they wondered why they missed one leg…and I didn’t believe Rat ate, that’s the true story Lilly. Many Thanks for your videos I love it! Keep up the good work Lilly.

It is under tension. the "middle" is held by the Y-branch she pounded into the ground the far end is held up by the two branches. The trigger is holding against that spring force so when it releases it snaps down quite forcefully.
