OP's wife in the second story reminds me of lottery winners who win a HUGE sum of money, $10 million+, and end up broke in a few years because they are financially irresponsible just wasting money on nonsense.
Story 2. It’s ok for the wife to splurge a bit but also clear debt and invest. Maybe part for the mortgage and half for investment. I think is a bit manipulative from the husband to expect her to do what he wants, although she clearly is financially immature. Try meeting her half way maybe??
I agree truely wild that there were no problems before this, and he's able to provide as a husband pretty effortlessly with no struggle. But because she wants to treat herself one time with her money it's "do what I want or divorce"! That's crazy.
It sounds like although he makes good money he's quite frugal its his decision to keep driving his older car. One she's opted not to continue doing, one vacation and a purse shouldn't dissolve a marriage. Like did he really love her? If the amount is that high that he wouldn't have to pay much alimony then she should be fine to do her little splurge and then use the rest to pay off a portion of her school debt and invest the rest the way she wants too with a proper advisor.

He can leave if he wants, but no way he should try to give her a reality check or hold her accountable for her actions(which in this case is her financially ab3sing him), SHE IS A WOMAN!!! He is clearly IMMATURE for entering in a marriage and not ready to SUFFER and she is ofcourse going to choose her happiness and full her desires before considering husband and family wellbeing and he should stop whining about it.

She is not doing that. She is just throwing it away on insane waste of money like a 10K purse. She also got pissed because OP wanted her to chip in halve for everything instead of having him pay the majority.
There's a reason spouses can't lay claim to inherentences.
Regardless what OP thinks the wife should do with her money, its none of his business.
As far as her being "irresponsible" and OP questioning her character as a result, I call BS. OP knew EXACTLY who his wife was and her expectations in the marriage before the money which is why he was perfectly comfortable mostly financing their lifestyle before the wife's money came into play... to the point he wasnt even really tracking what he spent in the marriage until after she wouldnt do what he wanted her to do with her inheritance.
They should just get a divorce because the marriage will never be the same.
Unless she uses the money how he wants her to which includes benefitting him, he will be bitter and if she is forced to use her money in a way she doesn't want to, she will be bitter.
Even if she just wanted to save it, he would be bitter because he feels entitled to some compensation for his willing expenditures in the marriage now that she has money.
She should have never disclosed the inheritance to her husband as it is the only thing which would have saved her marriage outside of her submitting to his wishes for HER inheritance.
