How long is the normal apprenticeship time on plastering? Also how long after your apprenticeship did you decide to go it alone?

A normal plastering apprenticeship is usually 2 years long to achieve and NVQ level 2 and an extra year to achieve level 3.
That said most people know that it takes around 5 to 10 years to become competent.
I went it alone after around 5-6 years and I was barely ready for it. Luckily I managed to just make it but the first year was a rocky one.
It's a very hard job but like anything difficult, if you play your cards right the juice is worth the squeeze.
