The Tigrex (whether it's the generic, brute, or Grimclaw) has been my Achilles heel in this game. I can handle monsters that attack twice, such as Mizutsune. Even Oltura was managable as long as I could break it's wings and remember it's attack pattern. Basically, I've lost more hearts to a Tigrex than any other monster in this game. I'll likely never attempt Molten.

@@hueyfreeman2307 Nergigante is weak to thunder attacks, so I recommend switching to thunder weapons. You don't even have to max them out, level 2 should suffice. I also recommend bringing a gunlance, as they will provide extra defense and help build up kinship faster. Astalos has a thunder gunlance, so try to get one of those. For armor, try getting non-elemental armor to maximize survivability, either Tigrex or Diablos armor. I believe one of them has a head to head master skill, which will also help with kinship building. As for you monsties, again Nergi's hates thunder. I see you have a Tobi so use it. At that point in the game, you have access to Zinogore, Astalos, and Lagiacrus. Each of them cover all 3 attack types. You can add Lagiacrus' power attack and Astalo's tech attack to your Tobi via rite of channelling. This way all attack types are covered in one monstie. You want to build your kinship as quickly as possible so you can ride on when he's about to do his calamity smash attack. You'll get knocked off and lose the kinship, but you won't lose any hearts. If you don't know his attack pattern, there are plenty of videos you can watch to learn it. Bring a lot of healing items and don't be afraid to heal a few turns in a row. Just try to stay alive. I know this is A LOT and will require a bit of grinding. You don't have to follow all my advice to a T. But definitely try getting some thunder weapons and non-elemental armor. You DON'T have to max them out.
I have to admit, I could not beat this monster in it's subquest. Being level 73, I thought it would be easy. But I was wrong. I have some serious grinding to do sometime.
I kinda like the fact that levels don't make fights easier. I play Fire Emblem Three Houses and you can easily break the game by overleveling (unless you're playing the higher difficulty). But in this game, winning a battle is based purely on build and strategy (and some luck).
i like how you can see that Navirou learned from the first game and said it's a Molten Tigrex instead of not knowing what monster it is (if you encountered Molten Tigrex in the first game, if you didn't Navirou says he has never seen this monster before)
The last time we got new Rare Species was in MH 4 Ultimate, they introduced this Molten Tiggy. I'm hoping that they add a new Rare Species monster for Sunbreak this time around, or atleast bring back older Rare Species monster that aren't Metal Raths.
Debating which is harder, soulseer or molten, nearly the same hp and every hit is almost a oneshot. Enraged mode has no chill, I'd be chugging mega potions, ancient potions and popping dust of lifes every 1~2 turns, like geez.
one of the most garbage fights in the entire game. he can just decide to target you 3 times with savage spear and take you out no matter what you do....
Molten Tigrex: What makes me a good demoman? If I were a BAD demoman, I wouldn't be sittin' here, discussin' it with ya now would I?!
im at a 50/50 everytime i fight that thing. its so powerful
ps: im lvl 81
