    If you want a CX400 Tour with a tighter stringing pattern, just try the previous one.
    It's 16x19, but the string pattern itself alone doesn't say the whole story. String spacing can is tighter on the previous CX400 Tour 16x19 than the 16x20 is on the Diadem Elevate.

    A cool video to do is a vintage budget racquet challenge where you and a friend, Simon if possible, get a small budget of $50 and go to pawn shops and thrift stores for old tennis racquets. The racquets have to be either graphite or any composite material (basically anything but wood) and within 90 to 100 sq. inches. Racquets have to be anything pre-2000. Leftover funds can be used for upgrades like grips, strings, and weights.
    Reason for this idea goes out to all my poor tennis players (✊️🥲 I feel you). But on a more serious note, it's to see if vintage racquets are even worth using in a modern, competitive setting. Questions of whether or not the technology has improved massively and if all vintage racquets need to be usable are modern add ons like grips and strings.
    I would go to these thift, bargain stores and be fascinated by the old gear they have, especially from brands I had never heard of. Would be interested to see a video like that.

      This is a fantastic idea - Simon

    • @allainangcao28
      @allainangcao28 Před 4 měsíci

      You could try to do some point systems such as points for every $ dollar not spent (as meant to be a budget focused test) and points for acceptable performance such as comfort, overall weight, swing weight etc.; running those numbers against modern racquets to see if they are more or less the same or even better performing with the lower price.
      The main thing is price, which is a big problem when it comes to getting into tennis. The racquet is one thing, other things include the string job, adding weight, applying grips, etc. which can amount to absurd prices just to get a basic setup to hold your own while learning the game.
      More bonus points awarded for non-big brand racquets like ProKennex, Donnay, and even if you are able to find old Adidas racquets from the 90s like the GTX Mids used by the likes of Ivan Lendl.

    Good review. Tempting to give this one a try. Just hesitant about the stiffness with my past issues with shoulder and wrist. I’m still on my journey to find a replacement to my Pure Strike 100 2nd generation that I heavily customized to add weight everywhere. So far, I like Boom Pro, Gravity Pro (only on my best days) and Speed MP (on my worst days). Was not into EZone 100 and the new Blade 98, surprising since most love it. Keep up the good work.

    • @TennCom
      @TennCom  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Thanks for watching! I think if you are comfortable with the Boom Pro, the stiffness with the 400T shouldn't be an issue. I found that even the newer version of the BP, which is supposed to be softer, to feel more stiff than the 400T.

    Your reviews are all great - thank you! If you don’t mind - I’m debating between CX400 Tour; Precept 97 and Pure Strike 100 16x20 (realize having the 97 in there a bit strange). I’ve demo’d them and it’s a bit hard to tell the difference in a relatively short period of time. I do tend to have elbow and shoulder issues so long term comfort a key driver here. I’m a 4.5 with all court game and feel I could benefit from the 100 size even though the Precept 97 does seem to have a nice soft feel (the Precept 100 I didn’t love). A lot of the reviews I read indicate the Dunlop may be best for arm issues which confuses me given the higher stiffness rating and less headlight. Would love any thoughts - thanks again.

    • @TennCom
      @TennCom  Před měsícem +1

      Thanks Ted! Arm issues are always tricky. It's hard to know what about certain racquets really bother the arm. I haven't tried the latest Strike 100 so sadly I can't be of the most help. I personally would chose the 97 for my game. I struggled to really groove with the 400T even though I really think having the extra power is important. Do you know if the Percept 100 you tried was strung differently from the 97? I thought they felt pretty similar and I'm a big fan of the Percept 100.

  • @LuisLunaTarazon
    @LuisLunaTarazon Před 4 měsíci

    Any chance the CX 200 Tour 16x19 fixes some of the problems of the regular CX 200? Slightly stiffer layup of graphite (albeit a thinner beam), and they also widened the string spacing compared to the outgoing model. Hoping that slight increase in swingweight helps, and the smaller headsize - in theory - could lead to an ever lower twistweight? It looks like whatever Dunlop did to the 2024 CX series helped improve stability despite less overall weight in the hoop, which might be worth looking at for people chasing racquets with lower twistweights.

    • @TennCom
      @TennCom  Před 4 měsíci

      Hard to say, the reviews seem pretty up and down. If you like the CX200 and want something that isn't so obviously flawed I think the VCORE 95 is the way to go. Similar level of forgiveness, spin and maneuverability but way more stable and solid feeling.

    I just watched the video three times. But unfortunately I don't understand the disadvantage of the racket in practice. High and unconsistent launch angle? I'm a relatively flat hitter who loves the stability, feel and plow- through of the rf97, but I'm not fit enough for this weight. Is the CX400Tour worth a try for me, or there are better 300ish grams alternative to rf97?

    • @TennCom
      @TennCom  Před 4 měsíci +1

      When you frame it that way, I think the racquet does make more sense, you still get a lot more stability, feel and plow compared to a lot of other 100s. I guess my issue is that it still doesn't swing much like an RF, even though you still get a similar punch. Its pretty laggy and slow for its weight. I personally would rather the Prostaff X instead, I know they aren't in the same weight class, but at 315g with a 325SW, the PSX is still a nice step down from the RF and I felt that it swung more smoothly and had a more consistent string bed.

    I know you love hearing from me , so I am going to add my 2 cents . I just demoed the cx 200 , 200 tour 16x19 and 400 tour last week . The cx 200 does not perform as well as the previous gen did . The box frames of the updated racquets make the 200 and 400 tour feel sluggish in the air . The updates desire for more comfort has taken away from its performance .
    Dunlop is trying like other legacy control line companies , to access the general market space . In the process , they become less useful in control and spin . Dumbing down a racket does not help anyone . This is also the case for the percept 97 reg vs the vcore pro reg . Pure strike 97 lost its forehand control and power balance and the percepts heaftier feeling in its balance, has a loss of the backhand low height skid ball . Either way they feel less pro and probably why they droped the pro and vs names .
    The best of the line for me was the cx 200 tour 16x19 . It was interesting on play. It did not enthrall me . Low to medium spin and not enough control but added weight was unnecessary vs the 200 that could benefit from having it in the head while the 400 tour in the grip . The 200 tour as a more open 16 x19 should be a high spin racquet balanced with control .
    I tested all 3 with a size 2 grip . A person with a size 3 grip may benefit more from the 200 than I and a larger grip size for the 400 tour . To me the previous gen of the cx 200 tour 18x20 modded performs far better . There were no sacrifices made on the alter of consumerism . I have 2 cx 200 tour 2021 rackets .
    Listening to their paying consumers is neccesary and they failed to do that . This is the price , in not doing so .
    A great racket , if you have or will have the opportunity to test is the Wilson ultra pro v4 . It is a true , pure beautifuly performing 97 . The specs are in the same range of the cx's and is untainted by the general consumer market . This is a true successor to the pro staff v13 regular .

    • @TennCom
      @TennCom  Před 4 měsíci

      Yeah, I don't have much experience with last gen, but this gen feels like they really missed the boat in a few keys areas that led to the whole line falling short and I think they made some obviously dumb choices.

    • @derekpappas1556
      @derekpappas1556 Před 4 měsíci

      @@TennCom Almost all of dunlop / srixons current promotions and reviews are in and for the japanese audience . There color choices are very eastern inspired . They fail at this time to cater to the western identity of a British brand , that is Dunlop . Their current line up was supposed to be inspired by the origional and later edition 200G and my first major rackets as a child. The Black Max which was the sister racket to the McEnroe 200 G .
      The racket is a bit more elegant and durable than the previous gen , but the orange in the racket fails it . They choose to not properly listen to their consumers .
      They are very strategic though , they have a strong vested interest in slinger and kswiss . They pushed these oroducts to the european tennis association in 2022 . I would not doubt that a newer Dunlop sho would come out of it and poss golf with srixons other held companies . They own now all of dunlop Tyre companies divisions and so dunlop rubber makes sence with its own rubber compositions .
      Remember Wilson utilizes the other company the chinese company that bought them owns , Solomon. So alon g with balls , they are weaving their way into everything including padel in europe .

    • @TennCom
      @TennCom  Před 4 měsíci +4

      The 500 is a lot more powerful and works better with my forehand and you get so much for for free in general. The high SW of the 400T makes it less accessible to more intermediate players as well, so for the 3.5/4.0 player, its easier to recommend the 500, not that the 400T is out of range for that type of player, just that it'll work less often for that type of player. Spin goes to the 500 too, but control and feel to the 400T
