After growing out my hair for more than a year I have picked up on a few tricks on how to deal with the weird part of your hair that won’t stay down and style options for hair stuck in this awkward phase. Also the type of haircut you should get when you decide that you want to start growing out your hair from short hair 👍

I've been trying to grow mine long for over 10 years....... sadly it only grows up to my shoulder then breaks off... and ever since I had a pixy cut the top of my hair has never grown correctly... it's shorter than the sides and back..... look so weird....
@@ninim7008 Did you go for trims while you were growing it? You have to cut the splits ends before they start breaking your hair. Otherwise, the hair won't be strong enough to get any longer. Also, conditioner, no heat, no dyes. Hair from the scalp takes longer to match the rest, but won't get there if it's weak and damaged. I've gone through the same ordeal. Fine hair sucks, it's so fragile.
@@EagDesert Yes I get it trimmed, but even that doesn't help at all it also just keeps my hair short and doesn't stop it from breaking. i don't dye my hair at all, it can't take it and will break in 2 days...... I've had to cut it all off the first time I tried dyeing it ....... made me so depressed. I suffer from ptsd and chronic depression and anxiety and am always stressed so I'm thinking this might be causing my hair problem too.
@@ninim7008 Make sure they just trim the ends, not the length. They should be cutting off far less than what you grow after several months. Must keep hydrated. Try a deep conditioner. There are lots of strengthening formulas out there too. Try biotin to help for healthier new growth.

Heads up, wearing a hat/beanie while your hair is wet can lead to dandruff! I started growing my hair out from a side part that turned into a pompadour (my hair is thick and curly.) At my third month, I trimmed it all around in order to even it all out. Once it got too long to slick back but too short to tie up, I would just push it back and throw on a hat.

My awkward phase was quartine when most of the barbers were close and was to lazy to do anything about it. Might be the only thing good about 2020.

Was there ever a point where you thought your hair stopped growing? I'd take everyday pics like you did in the time lapse vids, but I just am too lazy (yes too lazy to use my phone though I'm using it right now 😅). My hair has definitely been growing for at least a year and some months, but I have no idea whether or not it's growing. It's so frustrating. Plus my hair is wavy so that doesn't help (it's down to half my neck if I were to pull it straight and see)
+Jaahrel Sarmiento When your hair gets longer it's harder to tell whether it's growing or not but it's probably still growing! I guess the only way to know for sure is to take a ruler and measure the same area of hair every month. It should have grown somewhere between 0.5-1 inch 😄

I did the same too. shaved my sides and left everything long. I didn't go through the awkward phase.

I'm going to document my hair now.. I gave up the length a few weeks ago on the sides and back and got an undercut but I left the top long. So far my fringe reaches down to my top lip.. And it's so awkward to style cause I have an Asian undercut 😂 I'm doomed atm 😪
And it's also weird on the left side on my hair I have no volume, but the right side I do, I try to flatten the right out but it keeps popping.

The sides of my head are the worst. The hair always grows directly out so I have been getting my back and sides shaved every two weeks, but the top of my head is pretty long now, the next 6-9 months are going to kill me now, having to wait for the sides of my hair to grow out enough :(

I'm looking at growing out my hair. I've got a heart shape face, and wavy brown hair.
The only celebrity I can think of similar is Harry Styles.
Problem is my hairline! It's the same as his (slightly receded hairline but ridiculously thick hair)
Would it look silly? I mean he can pull it off but that's him. I'm 5'9 so having my hair down would make me look shorter and tying it up would accentuate my hairline!

I have very very very long hair as in to my bottom ass part. How in the name of god do i do a man bun, i can't do the simple ones because my hair will fall out and it'll just look like a racoon has scratched my face off. And i wan't to try to do it with just 1 band not 2 because when i use 2 it hurts my hair as in strains it.
try swirling your hair up or not pulling it all the way through the hair band on the last time when you're tying it

+Edvasian With me, I have super straight hair, I have bangs, and for my I don't know what to do with it because with my bangs sometimes it just gets boring and I wanna try something new, I try things like parting it to the middle, or pushing it back, but it sorta sucks because I started of my hair that wierd Justin briber way because I had nothing else to start with cause my hair was short, now it's medium length, but I don't know what to do with it, I'm not cutting it, I just think I should let it grow longer then curl it on the bangs? The top of my hair is long, but no enough so i can tie it up on the back of my head ( on the vertex ) so i tie it up somewhere in the middle almost to the vertex but i need like 2 cm long to get my top knot, so im asking is that still ok to wear till it grows long enough, in the middle to the back almost??

+Ja Seo Some girls can pull it off nicely! I think getting an undercut on just one side looks good on girls since they usually have longer hair than guys and can hide the undercut if they felt like it that day. Happy that you used my terrible costume idea! 😁

I had long hair last year. You are kinda late, you should have started at 5th month, nevertheless, u can start now but the side will take at least one and half years to come to a decent length
