- Every one of Rick Stanley's clocks is an inventive journey. He makes clocks using everything from bottles to bicycles; each one of them completely unique and accurate. "Even when I'm on vacation I think of different clocks to make," says Rick, talking about how he always has clocks on the brain. Rick gets inspiration from nearly everything, fueling his whimsical timekeeping inventions.

I guess he’s got a lot of time on his hands
That was funny. I gotta hand it to you.
@@TechN9cian01 anyone who can watch CZcams has alot of time on their hands, the majority of the population. I myself fall into that category.
lol was thinking the same thing
Your hands saved my time leaving this comment
Knee slapper
As a retired mechanical engineer, I think Rick is the epitome of what we strive for in our profession.
my jaw dropped at that absurd suitcase clock. this clock man is mad!
Time Traveler is my favorite!
The best kind of mad.
It should be complete with mannequins for The Three Stooges, in homage to a famous Bellhop skit. It should be sold to a modern art museum, and be loaned (read: leased) to fancy hotels in a "traveling" exhibit.
@@JohnDlugosz genius!
Engineering as art in my opinion is a dream career
When you can’t clearly differentiated the boarder line between function & form.
all engineering is art in a way
Do a search for 'kinetic art' and 'kinetic sculptures' btw.
(If you don't know about those yet.. They'll blow your mind (:
One mr. David C. Roy makes beautiful ones.
And I forget who made the "Strandbeest" sculpture (that walks the beach whenever the wind picks up).. But that's worth checking out too)
Industrial Design is the closest thing to that
Rick never has an excuse for being late.
This guy is a legend. I wish I was as creative, skilled, and content as he seems to be. Also he sounds like such a cool dad.
And grandpa! I loved the line, "Well she's 2 and a half, and she'll correct me everytime." He made her a clock that plays her favorite song. 🥺🥰
This dude is probably the closest to a spirit animal I could ever come across in real life. He has and does everything I love- Arduino/electronics, woodworking and all the woodworking tools, metalworking and all the metalworking tools, mechanical gears/chains/pulleys/Rube Goldberg-esque devices, and a enormous badass old barn/shop to house it all. Just toss in a few drones/robots and I would legitimately walk out on my family. Dude is living the dream, and he probably makes bank on those clocks…
Omg he deserves an best out of west award
he is sooo talented ❤
Making clocks seems like a good time.
As long as you don't have ADHD.
@@nataliep6385 I think having OCD would be worse in this situation lol😅
Hey, should this be up in the joke/pun string up at the top? 🤔😉✌️
@@gus473this isn't a joke. Whatever I don't have the time to explain
What a wonderful guy. And the beauty in this art and the engineering behind it is just jaw-dropping. Loved this 10/10.
Simply genius
lmao at that lamp that falls down on the cameraperson. This entire collection is amazing. The fluid clock and the clock that walks back and forth are my favorites.
The transforming grandfather clock is so utterly absurd.
I love it!
I think its cool all of those clocks. Its crazy what a human mind can do
This is all so precious, I can only wish to someday be as happy and excited about something as this gentleman is about clocks and life!
How purely whimsical! Gotta love that.
Beautiful art ☺️ Thank you for sharing 😊
what a wholesome dude. keep on makin cool clocks
Now we need a time Machine 😂
Oh Wow! That luggage one has forever changed me; what a creative idea!
His joy is lovely to see and is infectious
Amazing. I was a hobbyist, and I know quite a bit about fabrication too. This is some of the best of both I have ever seen.
The way his brain works is amazing!
This guy has quality fun in his life. Love it.
Favorite episode yet!
Just wonderful. I too have a workshop where I create weird machines and every time I see a person like this guy, I feel happy that there are more of my kind out there having fun 🙂💖👍
the dedication and passion ❤
The fluency of use of simple machines, fluids and electronics dectate that he must be having a Doctorate in Mechatronics. Very good use of time.
What an amazing passion. Inventors are so cool.
Utterly BRILLIANT!
I feel like I could sit and listen to him all day!
Good lord. I wish I had even a fraction of this man's passion for anything at all. I've always been jealous of people who know what their "thing" is. Especially when they actually go for it and live it how Rick here does. So impressive.
Very wholesome.
Brilliant!!!
Amazing talent!!!
That man really enjoys his Yuenling.
Some people are amazing and makes you think what clocks could of been made of back in the day, hope his passion has paid enough to have a good life :)
I love seeing things like this. I wish I had half his tools. That lathe and bandsaw even… I want my son to know the feeling of wanting or needing an item and the ability to go and make it. Even if that’s all he ever does with the tools he will know he can. I loved building things as a young boy. I didn’t have access to tools or adults that where willing to help me or teach me, so my skills where very limited.
Oh wow! This is incredible.
The Peewee Herman of clocks.
Seriously though...this guy is amazing. Ive always been fascinated with timekeeping. Especially if its powered by gravity or winding.
This man is brilliant!
He deserves to open a school to teach how he created these clocks. Absolute legend. 🙏
I would love to meet this guy these are amazing!
I feel like Rick has a deep appreciation for Dr. Seuss.
Thanks for your video on Rick's handicrafts. I really like kinetic sculpture; Rick's clocks add a timely component to the art/skill of making time pieces.
Also I am old enought to recognise and be able to use his draughting machine. I would also like to suggest restriction valve be fitted to the exhausting port of the air cylinders. In doing so, the exausting air can be regulated, thus ensuring the suit cases open more smoothly.
Thank for an enjoyably spent period of time watching this video.
Thank you for your comment. A regulator exhaust air is a good idea.
Good stuff, I need friends like this guy
When engineering and art come together, something magnificent happens...like this
What a great guy
This is my kind of man. I wish had he's workshop too
You and Tim Hunkin would be a fun conversation.
Yep, had the same thought! Love Tim's water clock he built.
This is amazing I kinda want to do something like this
Very inspiring
Timeless.
🎨💡🔧 I couldn't agree more! Engineering as art is a captivating combination, allowing for both creativity and problem-solving. It's truly a dream career for those who are passionate about blending aesthetics and functionality. The world of innovative clocks showcased in this video is a testament to the incredible possibilities that arise when engineering meets artistic expression. Keep pushing the boundaries and inspiring us with your inventive creations! 👏
This guy is living in a Dr Seuss book of his own making.
Obsessed is definitely the word for this guy.
Why the negative slant? This guy is extremely talented and creative and he isn't hurting anybody.
He's literally the coolest person ever
Amazing man!
This is the best Tick Tock video I've ever seen.
Charming! He's like the dad in "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" AKA my childhood hero.
This reminds me of Richard Clock
Rick- enjoy your you tube video! It is all so amazing. Thank you for sharing! Mary Ann
Thank you for your kind words - Rick
SO COOL!
imagine taking weeks to adjust the day saving time change XD thats dedication ! beautiful clocks !
This is so cool!
A- m-m-mazing!
One things for sure, he’s never late to anything.
excellent craft 👋
Awesome
Guy loves his Yuengling!
He clocked the camera person in the head
Clocked. 😂
I wouldn't mind seeing this guy in my area. Would love to see him actually organize tours and ask for donations to continue his unique art and equipment (craft)
Very creative and definitely could be a business (side Hussle).
Sell basically one of a kinda peices to like hotels or offices as a lobby central point of attraction when you are there. Only issue would be maintenance if anything jams or breaks down
Especially that luggage clock, could be sold to a hotel or anywhere you rent a room
I'd like to buy one of the smaller ones.
Rick is rad
He has derived a means by which to calibrate his Mind for devising the machinations by which we wistfully observe the modes of Time. In all it’s awaiting fascinations.
This reminds me of a dream I had about 45 years ago, in which I became engaged to Hal Holbrook, and his engagement gift to me was an incredibly intricate and lovely pocket clock, a tiny masterpiece of gold, jewels, and wood. Would that it were real...💫
I love people like this. Can we say he is living in his heaven?
So cool
The human brain is truly a general purpose computer.
I cannot fathom myself being able to do this under any circumstances.
His life must be full of rhythms and calculations, not mention endless ideas of weird but effective machines.
This guy and Mark Rober together will rebuild civilisation after the nuclear war is over.
Doubt he's going to see this, but would be really cool to see a bell syphon version of the water one, where the minutes reach 60, and everything dumps into the hours and starts refilling the minutes. Would lend itself really well to this. You might not even need electric pumps at all if you did it properly.
Too cool.
Why does this specific video reminds me of "Great Big Story" channel.
I need this guy on my zombie apocalypse team
With all his projects, this guy is like a real-life Doc Brown...
Awesome dude! :D
He's the ultimate grandfather clock
The man who made time , made plenty of it .❤
Bro is the final boss of cartoon villains
Re Daylight Savings Time:
You need to design the clocks to make it easy. That's an important feature for a clock to have.
Anything microcontroller-based can have a switch that you flip one way or the other.
For the domino clock and others that have a little window that reveals the hour, the housing for that window can rock back and forth one position. In all cases, it shouldn't take a week to fix them all, but should be trivial enough to change as you walk by without breaking stride.
How does he find the time...
🤦Ouch. 😉😅✌️
2:20. It’s daylight savING time, not savingS. And of course, it doesn’t save anything. It’s like cutting 12” off the bottom of a blanket to sew it to the top.
Cool
somebody get this guy a delorean
how do people like this make money with their fun projects??? i really like the suitcase time traveler clock :D
This is the "Time Will Accelerate" comment you were looking for.
Imagine what a watch would look like
First! I thought the woodshop was going to come to life like Pee Wee's house but nope. One disembodied hand reaching towards my soul.
Come on, "totally accurate" is an overstatement.
Coool!
I wish I could own one. I have a friend who loves clocks. Obsessed. I wish she could own one too. I could spend a lot more time watching his clocks. How loved is the 2 and a half-year-old?
