Thank you for this video, we've had a black gas stove sitting in our garage and now I can paint it and use it in my new barn style home.
Loved this! Currently saving for our first home and I’m VERY excited to paint my appliances pink 😊💓
Yes, I would totally paint my appliances! You did a terrific job and have given me the courage to do my dishwasher.
This is so cool! It turned out great. I wish I could do this to my apartment appliances!
Great job! I am now officially painting my white Double oven. We have already converted all of our appliances to stainless steel, our oven works great so now we have a great alternative. Thanks!
It looks absolutely beautiful ! Great job !
Love it! This is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for sharing!
Glad it was helpful!!
Looks Great! Can't wait for my paint to arrive.
I will definitely try it now that you showed how nice it looks !
Girl it looks awesome! I just opened my box. Im doing mine right now.
Came out really beautiful
That turned out amazing! I have been looking at doing a stainless steel vinyl wrap/magnet for the dishwasher. We just got a new stove and trying to match the dishwasher and fridge up to the stove. And since the dishwasher and refrigerator are to new and good shape they aren’t getting replaced anytime soon says the wife lol the refrigerator is textured so I don’t think wrapping it will work. May have to paint it. Nice job!
Just got our first home and I plan on doing this to all of our kitchen appliances. It looks great! Good job. 💗
Good luck can’t wait to hear about it!
It does look better then what it used too. I am glad they make this product for people to save money then buying an expensive appliances. Thanks... Looks Great !!!
I'm very interested. Nice job 😁
Mind blown!!!
Thanks for sharing this tutorial! I was happy to read in the comments that this paint held up very well. I’ve got my courage up and plan to attempt this project after purchasing the paint and foam brush. Thanks again! 😊👏🏽
I just found your channel and wanted to try this way before your video but i chickened out and purchased new. Your dishwasher turned out really good. If you don't tell anyone they will never know the difference.
Thank you! Yes no one can tell which is really nice, no negative to purchasing a new one!
It looks great
Thank you for sharing your video. I just did my dishwasher and microwave. I had to do 4 coats and I’m going to wait till the next day to put on the clear coat.
What is the name of the film you bought for dishwasher called on Amazon?
Wow that dishwasher turned out great !
Great job!
Looks awesome
Just purchased all new stainless appliances except for my dishwasher. I refuse to replace an appliance that still works well. 😆 I will definitely be trying this out. Thanks for the video!
That’s how I felt we intended to replace them but seemed like a waste since they worked well! I think the dishwasher is the easiest appliance to do this too so I hope it works out for you
Emily Burn thank you
Thank you, I have a range hood, and black dishwasher that this would be perfect for.
Awesome job
Hell yeah, I'd do that! That's looks nice, thanks for the inspiration.......2019
My dishwasher, range, and microwave look just like yours. We have been trying to figure out what to do. I'm so encouraged by your video! Do you have a video of how the microwave turned out?
Wow. Just the product I was wondering about. I'm going to check if you can paint on oven.
It is very easy to remove the front panel from a dishwasher; you will get a much better paint job this way, and when reinstalled it will be less likely to show any signs that it was painted.
Looks really good. Congratulations. I love it. If you did do the stove. How did the paint hold up with the heat.
Don't shake it, just stir well. The more you aggravate it, the more air gets trapped and you get bubbles. As it dries, in thinner coatings such as this, most of not all will pop, but you then run the risk of having blotchy or slightly discolored areas. This is especially true for top coats which should never be shaken. Even with latex paint that gets shaken to mix the color, then you see an orange peel looking finish. All of those little bumps are air trapped under the paint.
After you do a couple of passes with primer, lightly sand with at least 800 grit, making sure not to end up seeing the old color bleeding through. If you Do, add more primer and sand gently. You will end up with a nice flat and even base for the pigment, reducing the amount of air that would otherwise get trapped around the orange peel surface if you didn't sand the primer coats.
Do the same with the clear coat, starting with an 800 grit wet sandpaper and working up to a good 2500 to 3000 wet sandpaper. The higher you go with the grit, the smoother and well polished the surface gets.
Don't go above around 600 if you want to create a brushed stainless look. Let the pigment coat firm up buy don't let it dry. Use a light bristled paint brush and score the paint by lightly brushing the tacky, slightly wet coat, starting past the edge is non one side and not stopping until passing the edge on the other side.
Once it is cured (dried) add the clear coat which will fill in the brush marks and creates a flat finish. After a few coats, start the sanding/polishing/layering as before and you will get an amazing looking finish that is well protected by the clear coat.
You can get clear in matte, satin/semi-gloss and high gloss, so if what is provided doesn't do it for you, you can buy whatever clear suits your desired look. And without any bubbles!
Thanks. Great advice from someone who knows how it's done.
Great video. Thanks! Did you paint the microwave and stove? Can you send a picture? Would this paint work on old brass hinges?
you did a great job! Does the 2nd coat leave streaking? This is what I'm worried about with brush painting..
Looks good! My kit just arrived so I wanted to see more projects b4 doing it. Thank you so much for showing the 1st coat results as it would have worried me had I not seen your end results. I’m doing the fridge after dishwasher and stove/oven. My granite counter paint is on the way...All will be replaced in 6 yrs when we sell house & retire so I just wanted a better look to live with until then. Anyways, thank you so much for doing this. Why the film?
I am glad it was helpful, you definitely need lots of thin coats and it actually varies a lot by each appliance since they each seem to have a slightly different texture. Good luck on all your projects!! :)
Yes I will be doing my dishwasher and microwave
It’s came out beautiful! Did u ever did your stove or microwave? I’m thinking about painting my microwave.
Great
wow!
Good job
looks great does anyone know if it could be used on a stove?
How did the dishwasher painting hold up? Do you have after on the microwave? This is exactly what I want to do.
I ordered this film that you said you used and I cannot see one thing thru it. It's too dark and thick. I wonder if there is a lighter option.
You did a great job. Do you think it's possible to paint porous backsplash tile with his?
I honestly have no idea?! You can use the rust oleum tile paint on backsplash
Did you do your microwave?
What type of film did you use to cover the white button board?
What did you get to cover the buttons? Thanks
Love what you did to the dishwasher but what happened to the gloss. If it dont gloss with metalic paint then a coat of clear kote will fix that.
Want to do my range hood! Thanks for trying this out first, way better than spray painting it!
Could you tell me 1) how many coats you used and 2) did you just use the foam brush or did you go and get a squeegee/roller or any other tools? Thank you! It looks awesome!
I think it was basically three, I just spot painted areas that needed it after a couple coats and I did use the foam brush I think foam is best so foam brush or rollee
What was the plastic called that you put over the dishwasher buttons?
I am updating my kitchen now. Would love to do all my appliances. What do you suggest? Our DW is stainless and brand new but all the others are white.. i am scared. Lol
If you're scared try ezfauxdecore stainless film. I was thinking about it but it is more expensive than painting
Where did you get ur kit from?
There is a kit made by Thomas that has the roller, film, and large foam squeegee as seen in your instructions.
Thank you!!I found out later the bigger kit for larger appliances came with all of those as well!
Hi I am looking at doing this tomorrow and am researching it now... how many hours would you estimate the dishwasher took?
It also wasn’t clear if you brushed it all on or if you switched to a roller partway
I did it over the course of a day, did a coat, let it dry, did another, so on. Each coat didn’t take more than 30 min I would say. I think I tried both it just depends what finish is better for the material of your machine
What did it cost? I would definitely try this if I can get the cling covers for my old ones.
The kit is under $40 if I remember correctly and I only used one
How did the other appliances turn out
Hey where did you buy the black film from plz
On amazon here is the link from the description amzn.to/2NViSCd
Just recieved my kit. I'm doing my stove hood, so far it's taking a whole lot of coatings! It's getting darker but still not finished as if yet. So far I've done 5 coats I think. Still need to apply more.😒
How many coats did you have to end up applying, and do you like the finished product?
How did it go? what was the color of your stove before painting it? Mine is black, I want to paint it stainless steel. Update: I painted my oven and fridge, used 4 coats and 3 clear. it came out really good. I could still see the horizontal stripes but no way to avoid it. but I am very happy with the result, from black to stainless steel that matches the rest of my appliance. I wish I could insert some before and after photos .
What is the film you got from amazon
Thanks for sharing. It's been more than a year, did the the paint peel, crack, or fade?
I did that about a year and a half ago and we just replaced the dishwasher this week because it broke and we had to! The paint held up great and still looked great no peeling at all
Emily Burn thanks for your reply. I am still unsure, because My stove is right in my living room, it is an open kitchen , It has to be perfect
@@TheBandoury Nothing is perfect...and if it starts out blemish free, it can't stay that way, sooo...don't let it scare you! You have great tutorials on Y/T and specifically for this kind of job, right HERE! Just do it! Every ding or scratch is just character! Enjoy!
@@marcymrp I already did mine and I am very happy with the result, no one can tell it is not stainless steel :)
Does it have an odor? I tried a Rust-Oleum brand hammered silver on my countertops. I Loved the look, but the smell was so bad I had to remove it. Also, is this a gray/silver paint or is it shiney like real stainless steel?
I’m sure it did have an odor while I was doing it but it did not after it dried!
Maybe possibly it’s just my iPad but the paint looks flat not shiny on my picture. I almost think it looks more like gray cement on my picture but it’s a nice job an well done .
Can you clean it after it’s been painted? I have littles... so I have to wipe stuff down a lot.
Yes I wipe it down all the time, just wouldn’t use anything really abrasive on it
how did the microwave turn out!!?
What kind of film from Amazon?
Do you have a video posted of the microwave you did?
No I didn’t film the microwave, but I did it the same way!
Can this be used in heated surface like oven exterior?
Yes except not on the actual grates
Did you end up painting your stove? If so how did it come out?
I actually did not just because I never got to it, I wish I had done it first
Impressive

How did the microwave go? Did you do the stove?
I did not do the stove, I still might it is just a big undertaking
Has anybody tried spraying this material with a Preval sprayer? Spraying several thin coats would probably give an even better finish to clear coat.
Hey Emily, did you end up doing your stove? I also have a white gas range and am wondering how the paint will hold up right next to the open flame..
I actually never got around to the stove, I only did the dishwasher and microwave.
Hi Emily, was the result durable over time?
Hi yes it was I had it on my dishwasher for about a year and a half before the dishwasher broke and had to be replaced it held up very well I don’t think it even had any chips when we took it out
@@EmilyBurn thanks for your response!
I’m on my 4th coat and not much is happening. Maybe I needed primer?
Are your appliances black? I started seeing results after once coat with no primer
How did it go? how many coats did it take ?mine is black, what color was yours
1st let me thank you for sharing this however I couldnt really see the 1st result as the flash from phone was shining on it and I would recommend having store shake it up next time as noone wants to watch someone stir paint for any length of time...it came out great and looks awesome and I thank you for being brave enough to try this and share it...
What is the film for buttons called on amazon?
It's this one amzn.to/2JrIBuP
The dishwasher looks great! Wish you went a little closer to see close up
Yeah dont shake. Stir thoroughly. Get all the metal off the bottom and side of the can. Stir thoroughly BUT SLOW. you don't want bubbles.
Looks Ok but for a little extra $ you could have bought an actual piece of custom cut stainless steel and used construction adhesive to hold it in place. On the large flat surface of the dishwasher that would look even better.
How is it holding up?
Holding up great so far! Surprisingly no chips or anythiny
@@EmilyBurn no fade on color? do you think you will need to add some kind of clear coat over it at some point?
No fading! I think there was a clear coat included that was the last step
I’m gonna pain my range hood.
Update? How has the paint job worn over the year?
Hi there! It held up great I left it for over a year and a half until the dishwasher broke, no chips on the dishwasher there were a couple very small ones on our microwave (from slamming the door) I would recommend
It says to use primer on plastic..did you?
No I didn’t use any primer, but it might take less coats that way?
@@EmilyBurn thanks for replying! We have the kit for the fridge and are doing it now but we were a lil stumped and unsure.
Silly Gurl
How did it turn out? I would to do mines.
@@hyg44gu54 quite well :)
So glad you were able to do the fridge and it came out well!
How do you get a $20.00 fix? The paint is $67.00.
Painting with tongue and not paint brush. Lady talks.
