DUDE THATS AMAZING
This actually makes sense. Overcharged metal ions separated by electrolytic solution with undercharged metal on the other side. Amazing
what do you mean by undercharged metal? the aluminum? do you think one could use other metals like lead to still make a battery like this?
@@veganchocolatemousse basically if you look in the periodic table of elements, youll see metals in different groups. Metals like to lose their valence electrons which is their outermost electrons to form cations. And generally metals at the bottom of a group lose their electrons more easily. Also as you go from group to group the metals lose their electrons less easily. Which is why group one metals react explosively with pretty much anything. Sodium and potassium literally explode in water. Go figure. For example when silver and zinc are used. Silver is in group 11 and zinc is in group 12. Silver is more likely to lose an electron than zinc. And thats exactly what happens.
Of course it makes sense. You just described the basic principles of a battery lol.
What what what?
@@DIOBrando-ur5we i learned more from your 2 comments than from years of school 😂
The copper serves as electrodes, aluminium foil as terminals and the vinegar is the electrolyte, Amazing idea!!👏👏👏
Can aluminum foil be used as a replacement for zinc in this battery?
Alessandro Volta may be proud of you ❤️
Tesla didn't make the battery it was Alessandro volta
Alessandro Volta would like to know your location

So.. Money is power? :D
+Norina F lol in this case it would appear so!
Which makes it expensive
+Norina F Literally yes :D
Pretty cool, Dave! By the way, for those who didn't know, the word *battery* can be used to describe *an array of similar things* , which can be used for example to describe a group of similar artillery/cannons. After watching this video everyone can draw the conclusion that a battery is *an array of similar stacked cells* , but a lot of the batteries today are actually single cells instead.
If they are single cells, they are not batteries. Batteries are more than one cell stacked together.
so to recharge this battery you would just need to soak it in vinegar?
i have the same question
Yes you would
Until the metal becomes corroded.
Good question
@ilikeminecraft6753 gaming inefficient really but I suppose.
This is one of the most underrated videos ever.

My mind: it's because 9 is not even
He could just do 3x3.
That is extremely useful my stupid tv has no buttons on it so if the batteries in the remote die I cant use the tv. Now I can. I wonder how long it will last?
+weirdstuffanimation7 not very long. until the vinegar dryed
+The Alpha Falcon so just soak it in vinegar
a couple of weeks so try it

Only as long as there's still vinegar soaked into the card.
This is beautiful, thank you for sharing 👍

+DaveHax what if you did more than 9 can you do more than 4 volts? and how long does this power last after the vinegar is gone from the cardboard pieces of paper?
+DaveHax it is a hamburger ,_, can i eat the hamburger
can i do this with lemon without vinegar
yes, watch my video on my handheld flashlight that runs on lemon juice
Let's appreciate the CZcamsr in his videos very well done 👍👍👏👏
2 dissimilar metals and an acid...lemon juice works too. You can also revive a dead car battery with aspirin and distilled water. Great vid. Might actually do this just for the hell of it. Love home science projects.

DO NOT clean collectible coins with vinegar and salt, it ruins the value
+m2hmghb it's not like you're going to use collectible coins in a battery, are you?
Kids are known to do things like that all the time.
m2hmghb then why do you keep them in a place they can reach like no problem?
Geez nice way to make assumptions. I don't have kids, but I know of people who have had their kids spend their silver quarters and dimes when they did keep them in a safe place. It's a notice for parents to be careful if they have collectible coins in the house and decide to do this.
+m2hmghb What about using a sonic jewelry cleaner on them - would that affect their numismatic value?
~♥~
How much energy does it store? For how long does it last?
This is pretty amazing.
Probably 5 seconds
until the coins and the aluminum foil finish reacting completely
This man has just solved the cost of living crisis
imagine going to your friends house and see their back remote strapped with wired copper coins and some silotape wrapped around it
OMG IT ACTUALLY WORKS, EVER SINCE I THOUGHT BATTERIES CAN ONLY MADE WITH COMPLEX CHEMICALS IN A FACTORY, BUT LOOK AT THIS! Astounding, Dave. What you made is so amazing.
Also is there actually a mAh tester. So I can test how long it'll probably last. Estimation.

Super awesome, I did this experiment with only 3 pennies and it pushed out an impressing 1.15 volts!

Man, that's awesome. Thanks for sharing that. I'm curious, how long will that power last for ?
2 minutes
@@jqproductions301 any way to recharge?
C maybe dip it back in the liquid he used
Tried recharging and it almost looks as if its feeding off the copper as it started reacting.
Yeah
excellent video, that great information for emergencies, very educational...thank you ...we all need to know this
Wow..
Thanks a lot from USA.
He’s made an infinite power source.
Nope
Nope
Voltage is not (pushed) out that would be amperage, Voltage is potential electrical difference between the - and the + source.
Totally Awesome !
thank you fo all the videos you do everyday

@@antonygonzalez1672 to put it simply, the copper is from the pennies is used up and the aluminum is eaten in the process. to "recharge", maybe switch out aluminum if there is any left and switch out the pennies occasionally.
Legendary Music of All Times 2.0 the aluminum won’t last long
2:28 he I think he should have used electrical tape
This is super! I could use this battery on anything thats powerful enough :)
Wow thanks i can use it in my project.
Nine circles? GD CONFIRMED.
Does changing how many coins there are increase the voltage as well?
I think so yea
Yes
Yes it will increase
How long does this last? How do you "recharge" it when there's no more power? How many LED can it light?
Yeah right, I don't understand the physics here
Mad sciencest moment, I will hook thousands off these together in series and parallel in order to heat room. I'll call it the Penny heater.

Lol smart idea
Does the battery coin run out of power?
You have untill the vinigar dries
+Lizie PBX It isn't the vinegar that gives of powwer, but the electrons in the metal.
+Orestis Grivas vinegar act as electrolyte if it drys the cell won't work
Donaldhung Hung Yes, but after some time it'll stops working even if it has vinegar m
+Orestis Grivas why?
The coin battery looks like a cookie 🍪🍪🍪
Yo Dave ur one of the handiest CZcamsrs ever with all ur vids

What happens when the card dries
yeah that's what I thought too.
hey can u plzz tell me if i can use aluminium instead of aluminium foil
Stylish Kuri you can scratch off the bottom with sand paper that works too
but the coin here are only of copper both inside and outside too in pakistan
but i have made it with copper coin and another aluminium coin 😊 and got 10 volts
I never thought this will work
Wow! So r babu inspirational content!!! I really enjoyed!
How long it work? Forever, 1 day?
1-2 days..
How long will it last? Also a question: suppose you tape it somehow so good that vinegar won't be able to flow out of the battery - does this mean that this battery will never ever run out of power?
nah the vinegar will dry out eventually or corrode the metal enough to make it not conductive.
vinegar is chemically known as acetic acid, it still is one of the weakest acids, but it still can corrode things over a long period of time.
infinite power generation is not possible. eventually the copper will corrode or be depleted and the batter will not produce as much voltage as it used to.
I'm curious the economy of power production versus electricity production methods. Like if someone wants to scrap enough and aluminum essentially getting the items for low to no-cost, could One supplement their power consumption with these on-site devices?
Next up:Time Travel Machine using only cornstarch and vegetable oil!
could you use hot glue to encase this coin “ pile” battery?
Well... That's basically how a capacitor works...
flux capacitor
For some reason, our battery is only getting 2 volts and we got 5 volts just once in random. Our LED 1.2 volt led is not lighting up either although we have enough volts in the battery. We learned that it might be because of current, but how do we fix that? Thanks
Make a joule theif circuit
ElectroBoom and Medhi needs to see this and make a video on how Copper and voltage go together.
YES
Thanks u for this video. batterys will last for a bit but handy to know👍
Question: "will you get more voltage, the higher the stack of coins?"
Yes plus foil and cardboards
