My grandpa ever said to me that I have a half Polish relative in the past, his name is Franciszek Gabrieli Meckel (1785-1866) he ever participate in the November Uprising (1830-1831) in the rank of First Lieutenant, also he join in the 1848 Revolution in Poland and the January Uprising (1863-1864) He died in Siberia after being captured by the Muscovites.
Great! My ancestor was a participant of the January uprising 1863th. He was also captured by the Muscovites, but exiled in Nizhny Novgorod (it's Volga region). His surname is Warszawski.

He was captured by the Prussians at Waterloo so I bet he was a part of Grouchy's 30,000 sent to pursue them. He spent six months at a POW camp in Danzig. He was an ethnic German from Alsace-Lorraine so I bet he was a translator between the Prussians and his French comrades.

The Poles are tied with the Irish for my opinion for the most brave, determined and badass people. No matter how many Irish and Polish uprisings, revolts and revolutions get crushed, they keep getting back up and fight again until they're free.
