- A couple of years back Disney took over 20th Century Fox. As a part of that deal, they acquired the rights to Dragon Ball Evolution (I'm sorry for making you remember that movie). So in other words, the rights to Dragon Ball Z!
Does this mean Disney is working on a Dragon Ball Cinematic Universe as they have done with Marvel? Think what they have done with Star Wars, could they do the same with Dragon Ball Z??

They don't own dragon ball they own the distribution rights to the movies so they can't make movies on dragon ball anyway and shonen jump owns dragon ball or its parent company shueisha does and the only way for Disney to make a live action movie on dragon ball is to either buy the rights or buy the company.
These Japanese companies are generally VERY protective of their IPs.

I don't believe a live action Dragon Ball will ever work. Disney would be one of the worst studios right now to attempt it.
If they’re gonna do it it can only be 5 movies, the first is the piccolo vs goku and goku has to be a kid, then the saiyan saga, the frieza saga, cell saga then the buu saga and if the main actors aren’t burnt out by that point then they can do the beerus movie, goku black then the tournament of power and that’s it

I want to Dragon Ball cinematic universe. However I would not want Disney to make it. I’d rather someone like Universal, Warner Bros., or Paramount to create this. With Universal in Paramount having possibly the best chance for success.
