If the title is "construction of the Ala Wai" ...there should be some history...like Pinkerton...or the actual dragging process...

The rice and duck production ruined the natural wetlands so they had to have the contaminated wetlands irrigated.

Diverting those rivers robbed Waikiki of the sediment that helps to maintain the sand on Waikiki beach and build sand bars etc., that's why we have to keep paying millions to replenish the sand from off shore.

      solution: raise taxes on tourism

@@thatoneguy8064 Is there a tourist tax in Hawaii?
Hawaii has the highest combined tax rate in the US.
Our current state accommodations tax is 10.25%.

      @@customislandtours let’s make it 20.50%

@@thatoneguy8064 Yeah, let's crash Hawaii's economy when everyone stops coming. Tourism brings between 1 and 2 billion dollars a month into Hawaii's economy. Doubling the tourism tax could cut that in half, from 20 billion to just 10. Then I guess the Residents would have to make up the difference.

@@customislandtours that’s a lie. Tourism accounts for only 23% of our economy. You’re only after your own interests.
