I remember back in the early 50s I used to ride in the rumble seat of my uncle’s 1932 ford model T going over the old Nuuanuu Pali road to get to Kaneohe. It was very hairy with many turns. I could see over the rock wall barrier which was only about 3 to 4 feet tall. The road was very narrow. There was a legend that if you had raw pork in your car while driving over the pali at night or midnight your car would stall

I remember those days back in the late 50s when they had to close the pali sometimes high winds... Aloha nui loa and a Hui hou 🤙

Back in the late 50s you had to telephone the state to see if the old Pali highway was passable due to high winds Kailua side 🤙🌺 Shaka brada

Too bad it’s closed off to hikers. The section of the old Pali highway at the look out. We used to be able to hike it.

The back way is still open to hikers. It connects to the lookout. I do it like once every two weeks since it’s a nice stroll/run.

Pali Hwy goes to Kaneohe and on a couple miles more to Kailua road .. You’re bad reporting forgot to mention Kaneohe .
