- We took a trip to the east side of the state to Four Star Greenhouse Gardens where we got to talk to Brian Bourdon the Senior Manager in the Growing Department. He talked to us about all the new 2024 annuals. I hope you enjoy all the great tips Brian was able to share about the new plants!

Sometimes it takes a few years for garden centers to get on board with new things
What a fun tour, Heidi, thanks!!
You are so welcome!
Love that place, you all were in my neck of the woods which is 10mins away from me. Beautiful flowers!
Lucky you. I would love to go every few weeks to see the progress.
Such beautiful flowers, thank you for sharing this with us ❤❤❤
Thanks for visiting
How many of each plant are in those beautiful hanging baskets?, when are they planted up and when put outside in zone 5 b - 6 as the grower is, how often do they need fertilizing, what NPK?, are they routinely sprayed with insecticide or other sprays?
This was a very useful video, thanks so much Heidi.
If i had to guess they have 5 plants in each basket (this is what we would do if planting them). They get fertilized daily i am guessing with a low rate of fertilizer through an injector system when they get watered. I would recommend for the average gardener fertilizing once a week with PW Water Soluble fertilizer. I am guessing they do not spray with insecticides.
so interesting to hear the back story on the plants. Thank you!
You are welcome thanks for watching
Loved it! Thanks Heidi 😃😃😃
I am glad you could follow along
This was such a helpful and educational video! I kept pausing it to take notes so I can place several of these on my order next spring. I did not realize the solenias could handle that much sun. How do they compare to surefire begonias in the landscape? Thanks for the in-depth look at these plants.
I think the Solenias will do just as well in full sun. I did not realize they could be grown in full sun.
Very informative. Thanks.
My Pleasure
Thank you for this field trip to Four Star Greenhouse. Beautiful plants! With so much information, I had to start a plant journal for this video and for many of your past videos. It will be fun to spend the winter months looking back on your 2023 garden tours and planning my garden for next spring. You definitely inspire me! Thanks, Heidi! ❤
Glad it was helpful! I would love to know your favorites.
Good morning from Kentucky! I love love the channel and it’s so informative! I plan on doing my 1st ever order with y’all soon and I can’t wait! I’m really writing today to express our deepest sympathy to proven winners. The devastation was so real. Every gardener’s nightmare! Hope you all are doing well and please keep up all the great videos. P.s. DEER ARE THE WORST!
...I, too, express my heartfelt concern over the devastation from the unprecedented flooding. I was blown away in yesterday's video (8/28) from @provenwinnersdirect -- totally oblivious as to what had been going on. I share your sorrow for all the destroyed beauty and hard work -- and what now needs to be done. 👩🏼🌾💚 =^..^=
I live in south central Kentucky and I ordered from Garden Crossings this past spring. ALL of my plants arrived in perfect condition! I highly recommend!
Jamesbrittenia is a genus of flowering plants that are native to southern Africa, Sudan, Egypt, India, and Bangladesh. The genus includes over 100 species, most of which are found in South Africa. Some species are also found in tropical Africa
Interesting
Hey Heidi, there’s nothing better than a sneak peek of what’s to come next season.
I really felt for you, kinda like pulling teeth with Brad….definitely not good to interview ( how on earth did he get the job? 😂)
He was great nice and calm!!!
He is a grower not a public speaker. This is not something he normally does. I am grateful he took the time with me.
I killed my solenia begonias because I think I gave them too much water. Everything else in the container did great.
They are a tough plant
Love all the Doyle..
YAY!!! Heidi, you know I love a great field trip!!!!! lol
Please keep in mind for your next outing with this gentleman. His voice is a lot lower & deeper than yours lol. Your microphone was spot on but his was a bit too low due to his voice tone. But wow, what a wonderful video!
It is hard to know what you are getting at the time. We work with what we can get
