    I have a theory that the most universal colors would be darker muted cool reds and greens. Burgundy and forest green, for example. They're cool, they're muted (and I feel like it's better for radiant undertones to wear a burgundy than for muted undertones to wear a bright red), they're close to neutral by virtue of being red and green, so they're not going to be extremely cool, and finally, the reason I think they should be dark is because blondes and other low-contrast people can actually look quite pretty in dark colors and can add makeup and accessories to tie them in, whereas those of us with higher contrast tend to look washed out in colors that are too pale.

    I have no eye for colour analysis in people but I noticed that my mother and I often times suit way different kinds of clothes even though we have similar features and eye colour. She looks great in bright cool colours so she would pick such clothes for me as well when I was young and it looked ok but kind of costumy in my opinion. I started wearing muted neutral shades at some point growing up because I felt like it looked more classy but when I borrowed her my clothes she looked very washed out and sickly, way older than her age. I guess she is radiant and cool toned because anything else than those colours just does not work on her but for me, it kind of does? However, I don’t look my best, I feel very comfortable and elevated in camel tones and fleshy rosy colours, which look the worst on my mom, maybe I‘m warm and delicate?

    as a pale, cool and radiant olive skin tone my wardrobe is limited. Finding Anne Hathaway's clear chroma purple and jewel tones is difficult in "good fabrics" like linen or wool that use so many dusty/pale/pastel colors. thankfully I have black and white at least, and even then the black is often a "dusty black" not a clear chroma black. When I tan (naturally) I pull off warm and radiant colors better than cool and muted colors. but the jewel tones are my best colors

    Am I the only one who doesn't think Anne looks terrible in the yellow? It looks like a cool-toned, lemony yellow to me - which a lot of Winters look great in.
    I think just cause you are a cool season, doesn't mean you can't wear yellow. Everyone's skin literally has yellow tones in it, to varying degrees - it's just a matter of finding the right shade of yellow for you.

      I think it just means the yellow sticks out like a sore thumb, it looks out of place and not in harmony with her natural features so it doesn't enhance her features. She looks beautiful in literally everything to me haha but I think this is what is meant :)

    • @IncantationSadness
      @IncantationSadness Před 3 měsíci

      I believe it's a cultural thing. Here in my country, people don't like the yellowy effect people with warm undertones acquire when wearing cool and bright colors. It reminds us of a symptom of a disease we have here and we end up associating it with poor health. The blueish and greyish effect is not considered nice, but we don't think it's so much worse than the opposite. I don't think a cool lady wearing warm tones looks worse than a warm lady wearing cool tones. Both seem a little off.

    • @lenusniq_9746
      @lenusniq_9746 Před 3 měsíci +5

      I think that Merriam has a video in which she said that in her opinion yellow is always warm - no matter the tone of the yellow - it's just warm - I think she has a special video dedicated to yellow. If I remember correctly that is of the reasons she does not "believe" in traditional seasonal analyses b/c they put "cool/bright" yellow as an optimal color for bright cool people.
      Anyway, back to Anne - when she is in that yellow (which in fact some may categorize as "cool" yellow) I have to drag my eyes to focus on her face and not on that color of the dress, and her skin does look red blotchy and wax like. Ann herself is beautiful som once I force myself to focus on her face - yep, she is beautiful but it is inspite of the color. When she is in that super bright purple first thing I see (despite the color being that bright) is her face and her glowing skin and only after that I see the color of her blazer.

    Being a warm type (just in colour analysis terms) I have always wonder how did the textile industry come up with red, royal blue, black and white being default colours for mass produced garments. Those are told to work for everyone, but it's usually more about social aspect and common opinions than looking good in one's own skin.
