- The reign of the Ford Fiesta ST as king of the hot hatches is coming to an end. Ford has decided to move in a different direction with the Puma leading the line in the EV sales game. Whether this proves to be a good decision or not, only time will tell. All we know is that we're going to miss the Fiesta ST.

Is this actually the best hot hatch ever?
Agree
One of the best but there is not best of the best as cars from 1970s and 80s 90s and 2000 s of hothatch
polo gti is much better all round, better engine options, choice of an auto, and better interior
Yes, As an owner, of one, I am now 100% sure I will never sell in unless I have to for some reason. Also I am happy that in Central Europe it is a rare car. So being unique on the roads also ads a bit to the already ultimate high fun factor.
Clio RS 182 or civic type R ep3
Ending production of a supercar like the Aventador is sad, but ending this car is even more sad
As an ex Ford of Europe employee, all I can say is that the company has completely lost its head. The self-destruct button was pressed some time ago and it's now full throttle into oblivion. The European business will be sold in the next couple of years and the brand itself will be added to one of the Chinese behemoths by the close of this decade.
It’s horrible here in the US. Arguably worse. The only fun car in ford’s lineup anymore is the Mustang, and maybe the Bronco if your into off-roading. Everything else is just boring with bad fuel economy. We’ve entered the second malaise era. And it’s just depressing to watch.
"all I can say is that the company has completely lost its head"
- That would seem to be the case.
Everyone knew where they were with the Fiesta, Focus & Mondeo.
One of those cars would be all the car you'd ever need.
How have Ford managed to decimate their product line up when BMW now have SUV versions of every saloon car, a coupe version of ever saloon car and a 4-door coupe version of every saloon car. as well as numerous estates, an mpv-thing and a MINI off-shoot.
Glad I ordered my new ST back in March last year. Evidently it's arrived here in NZ last week. Pick it up soon. Nothing else Ford has on offer is remotely interesting to me. I wonder how they survive . Guess the Ranger keeps them going, not sure you can survive on a one hit wonder though.
Faaarrrrk sakes 😢
covid was a distraction for an invasion we all know this
Electric cars can never replace this, will be missed🌏
Range, charging times, cost of replacing batteries. Cost of recharging. All major issues.
It's not electro cars that's replacing the Fiesta.
It's crossovers! Profiteering is a race to the bottom.
@@toyotaprius79 its all a big con electric cars
@@carlosoruna7174 and that's only a couple things
@@Charlie-B-Barkin how so? A brand new technology foreign to automakers that their executives spent decades pushing back dismissing that hybrids and electrics don't work in the real world. And when crunch time came, they all invested in said new technology too late into the game, competing for 3rd party suppliers and still have the cheek to prioritise dividends and bonuses at the same time.
The whole having your cake and eating it. That's the con my friend.
So glad I've managed to experience 4 different generations of Fiestas over the years from my first car a Mk 5 to Mk6 a few cars later and then a Mk 7 ST and now with a pre face lift Mk 8 ST back to back. I'm so glad that I still have my Mk 8, it put's to much of a smile on my face every time I drive it to ever think of selling it. Really sad to see the Fiesta coming to an end. Sad times especially for those that haven't experienced an ST version before.
Massive mistake by Ford, don’t believe the SUV/crossover hype - people will always by small hatchbacks - and the Fiesta St was one of the best ever small hot hatch. The new mpv style Puma can never replace the fun factor of a hot hatch - it’s too high and too heavy .
Ford Puma is a crossover, not MPV.
In the early years when the word crossover was not invented in the car industry there was MPV! Or UAV...urban activity vehicle. The new trend came up with the crossover title.
The sales were pretty bad for the Focus and Fiesta. People might want small cars. But they aren't going to Ford.
@@baronvonjo1929, sales of Focus and Fiesta in Europe is not the problem, it is Ford overall sales the problem. Ford Puma sales alone in Europe wont solve the Ford problems in Europe.
@Kresimir Simunovic So basically nobody want a Ford and therefore nobody really cares if they died off?
I owned two Focus STs. I will always miss that car. People who have never driven the fast Fords will never understand. We were lucky get them in the US for a few years, and then they were gone. I now own a new Civic Si and it’s a great car, but something is missing.
Yes and the Mk2s still look just as fabulous now. Great cars, I’m a total Ford performance fan 🥰
I’m a proud owner of a mk2 focus RS absolutely stunning visually the sound and to drive
@@James-hh1lq There’s nothing nicer in my opinion 👍
They axed it in the states, and now over there?
What's infuriating, we have SUVs wearing the ST badge
I've owned both a Mk7 and Mk8 Fiesta ST over the years and they were fantastic cars! Really sad to see it killed off.
Did you manage to try out other hot hatches, by any chance? I'm interested in getting one, but everyone keeps mentioning the very harsh ride and there are some rough rounds in my country. Is it really that much stiffer than the other hot hatches? (I currently drive a Golf GTI)
@@Mamsaturatdevoi I've driven/been in an i30N, AMG A35, Clio Renault Sport and currently own a Focus ST. I wouldn't say the Fiesta was much harder than any of these tbh, the MK8 in particular was quite a pleasant ride at times.
It‘s so sad that Ford makes the decision to cancel the Fiesta and Focus inclusive the ST Version 😢
Next month i get finally my Focus ST, the last of one of the greatest Car Series that ever made!
I miss my Mk3 Focus ST so much. Hold on to yours.
I’ve got a mk2 2.5 st running 280bhp amazing cars
I have one, MK6 to be exact, and it's an honour to say, that this is my first car. I adore it. It's practical, extremely fun to drive, and when you want to scare your friends who never were in a fast car it's more than enough. The fact that it's been killed, along with the Focus ST, which was another dream car for me as a child is a bit of personal.
Automakers want us in junk cars that are all the same with out any personality. Fun cars don't fit in to the WEF 15min city plan. Cmon. Don't let them take everything from us
So frustrating that every single corporation want us to buy their crap. (Mainly Vehicles and Electronic hardware)
As you said, 'stuff' without any personality.
And what's worse is, they don't want us to ask any questions.
Couldn't have said it better. It's a sad time for every real car enthusiast. And not only is the future of cars sad in every way but they will eventually take away our beloved cars we currently own.
It's the government legislation that's killing internal combustion engines not the manufacturers

Same here, despite a few minor issues I don't see what I can replace it with, except perhaps I30N but it's not on sale where I live
I've had mk8 a year now and smile the same way I did when I test drove it every single time I get in it, what a fantastic little car

@@Mamsaturatdevoihad my MK8 3 months, roads in the U.K. are a shambles this winter and I haven’t found it that bad and just try to dodge the pot holes. Best car I’ve owned, took it out into the countryside last week for the first time and it’s such a brilliant thing to thrash around. I plan to keep it as long as possible!
@GB-gi9by Had my MK8 just over a year.. 3rd ST I owned and the best! Drove the A54 the other day and it was a nightmare!! Used to flow.. quick smooth undulating roads but now !?!? It's like driving through a minefield. Just don't enjoy driving my perfect little motor whilst the roads are like they are :(
They’ll regret this years down the line
"sounds like half a 911" is what i going to answer everytime someone asks me how my 3 cyl sounds like
I bought one of the last production STs in September 2022 before I knew it was being discontinued. What a car!
Did you manage to try out other hot hatches, as well? I'm interested in getting an ST, but everyone keeps mentioning the very harsh ride and there are some rough rounds in my country. Is it really that much stiffer than the other hot hatches? (I currently drive a Golf GTI)
Yes, I drive on the rural roads of west Wales so it doesn’t get much worse than that. It’s firmer than the GTI for sure but will also out handle it-it’s a bit more hardcore. I’m on my second ST and it’s a great daily driver despite being a tad firm. Closest thing to it is the i20N!
@@MamsaturatdevoiI can’t comment since the fiesta st is the only hot batch I’ve driven, closes to one is a golf gt but I wouldn’t say that’s a hot hatch
The ride is a lot firmer i agree but man is it NIMBLE and such a joy to drive
Best driving car ive ever owned. Only problem was everyone wants to race you constantly and im way too old for that haha
That’s the only issue with the car, it’s reputation

Not at all a harsh ride just ask my wife 😂.
Love my Fords, a huge shame to see the fiesta ST cancelled. I now have 2 Puma ST's and they make me smile so much.
the ending of this video ended as brutal as the fiesta life. I NEED MORE!! fantastic video
Great film 👍
I've had my mk7 ST for 5 years now and I don't think I can ever get rid. It's just too special and I've become really attached with all the journeys I've made, maintenance done etc. A very sad day we're losing the fiesta
Yes true but the very lucky owners of the final year of production will have an ever lasting appreciating asset! 🙏👌
The mk7 is the best all round… managed to get one of the last lot in 17 plate… also have a celica t sport another awesome drivers car

I can imagine that some forward thinking car building companies (like maybe Prodrive, Retropower, Lotus etc) will buy as many shells of the final Fiestas and Focuses to mothball and build them bespoke to customer order for the next few years..(expect a plus 100k price tag though!)😁😊
And there I was thinking we might get an RS fiesta with 4 wheel drive to rival the GR Yaris as a last hurrah. Happy owner of a 2019 performance edition and very happy now I see what the resale value is.
Currently I've got a mk6 zetec blue with a 1.4. It's not quick but I love it.
I bought one of the 8.5s and I love it to bits. It's all that I'd hoped for and more. A modern day version of my old 205GTI almost. It's our runaround and used most days. I have no idea what I'll replace it with but I have no intention of crossing that bridge for a long time.
I love my 2019 MX-5 RF.
Small, sporty, fun to drive.
Had a 2020 Veloster N, but it had too much understeer at the limit.
So glad I managed to get one of the last ever Fiesta's and in Mean Green aswell. Its such a fun car to drive and makes me smile all the time. Going to try and keep hold of it for as long as i can

i've driven a base-model mk7 for almost 6 years now and originally bought it for £2,000. everyone doubted me and said it'll break down on me but it still hasn't needed a single major repair yet, just odd jobs less than £100 each. my friends have moved onto bigger better cars while i'm still with this fiesta because i love it. if i do ever change cars, it will definitely be a fiesta st.
I'm glad I was able to work with the Ford US launch team for the Fiesta ST. The only Fiesta ST the US ever got. I was sad when they killed off all the cars entirely right after in the states.
I've ordered what the dealer said was 1 of the last available new ST3's in mean green. Should be ready to collect in a week or so.
I’m 72 years old, and took delivery of a new ST3 3 door in mean green last year. I have owned many supercars and exotica, but every journey in my ST is an occasion. I cannot understand Ford axing these cars.
Hyundai have introduced their version, the 120N, so they obviously believe there is a future in making a compact hot hatchback.
They're axing it because it isn't making them enough money. They're going all in on SUVs and Crossovers, because the British PublicTM love to be seen in big, tall cars.
The blue oval is in my blood we have always been a ford family and with the death of the fiesta and focus they’re forcing me to look elsewhere for my next car 😢. Long love the Fiesta
I grew up for 20 years loving Ford... no matter if Escort, Mondeo, Fiesta, Focus or Mustang. And now there is almost nothing left to desire... of course these old cars are still fine but killing them off doesn't motivate me buying one. Highly doubt my next car will be a Ford.
Well, there is one more blue oval you can consider… I’m ordering an Impreza Sport. Had Ford still been making them, I would have gotten a Focus. But since I’m American, I never had a chance of getting one.
@@jacobrzeszewski6527 And Subaru in Europe is pretty much non existing.
Believe me Mate, I was going to buy the MK 8 here in the US, but Ford pulled the plug on all car sales with the exception of the Mustang. I bought a new MK 7 here in the US in 2014, I've had 14 cars and 9 motorcycles in my 74 year life time and buy far this is the most fun I've ever had driving, my ST has 104,000 miles on it, it has a Cobb stage two Tune at 22 pounds of Boost, and it is fast, combined with sticking Mitchell plot sport tires it's a street legal go kart, I'm on my 6th set of tires, I love driving on three wheels. The Fiesta Flash.🤙
74 here also; first car was a 53 MGTD. All other vehicles were “work oriented”. My 2016 Fiesta ST is the perfect end of life crisis car especially in molten orange 😂LOL.

They'll make an electric version of it in 2033 when people get tired of cross overs and theyell bring back the fiesta badge for nostalgia
I enjoyed your review very much however, could listen all day
Just ordered a brand new one cant wait for it to come, just before they go out of production never driven one before.
Pick mine up in 3 days so looking forward to it cannot wait to get ma hands on the wheel
I learnt to drive way before the Fiesta was even dreamt about. I have, however owned an ST, but the big brother Focus (5 cyl jobby). Great car, but so expensive to run and maintain. Owned it for 5 years and they were probably my most enjoyable driving years of my life.
Well spoken. Could not have done it better. Sad to see it go, but glad i own a MK8 ST : )

Yes it’s a very sad day for the car world!
I owned a mk1 and mk2 Xr2 and they are still well loved, but this last Fiesta looks great!
Now that I live in New Zealand there are only a very few St Fiesta and I have never seen the latest version on the road, if only we could turn back time to have cars that sound like cars and look so great!
I bought a mk8 two years ago. I always wanted a real hot hatch and I kinda knew that this was the time to do it. I went for a low mileage three door one without the performace pack. It is an absolute joyous little car.
If you want to track it you may well want to go for the performance pack but from my experience you won't really miss it on the road. The 200hp is just enough to make you giggle but unless you drive like an idiot it wont get you into too much trouble.
The fast steering and the gearing make it so perfect for twisty backroads. I find myself fiending for those opportunities to have fun with it, seeking out those sretches of road and scouting them for that perfect opportunity. It's a real shame these kinds of cars are on their way out but it makes me appreciate the time I have left with mine even more. I won't be selling it.
I’m thinking to get on & buy an ST. How’s the ride bro?

I still think the MK1 XR2 was the best one available. The MK5/6 was nearly a return to the original classic. I have to admit I know what fans of the Fiesta will be going through, cos I was going through the same issues when they stopped selling the Capri. Guess they are going to concentrate on the plug-in cars from now on.
Can’t agree more fabulous car my wife is now on her 6th a 2023 ST delivered last week it’s pretty unlikely we will ever sell it after all you can’t buy another one 🤷♂️🤯
I've got the mk 8 and I love it. I will get a 23 plate in year 27 .although it will be 4 years old you can still pick up low mileage models .

We loved our 2017 Focus ST, but when we started a family we wanted a bit more room. A Focus ST estate would have been perfect, sadly it was never offered here in the States. I hate the idea of ever owning a crossover. So now we drive a VW Golf Sportwagen (MT6).

@@Mamsaturatdevoi I've only driven the ST not other hot hatches but do have an everyday hatch as well. I would say overall the ST has a very well balanced ride, firm not harsh, quite forgiving but on back roads with lots of bumps and undulations it can be very hard to manage at speed, so you need to back off the throttle. That's the price you pay for a sports car and I would add that the car is set up for the track more than it is for everyday roads. With that in mind I would say 95+% of the time the car is extremely well behaved on everyday roads, it's not going to feel like your average comfortable riding car, but you want that extra road feedback in order to drive it like it has been set up to drive.
@@eyeballbilly Thank you!
The Fiesta has been the best hot hatch for year. Fact.
What I couldn't get over was that Ford gave the Mk8 a grin, rather than a scowl that the Mk7 had.
Don't know where your coming from with the looks,I have one and love it,it's a better looking car than the i20n.
It’s been dead hear in the US for a few years now. Writing was on the walls…
That and the focus…
Well, the world often gets cool cars the states don't. I didn't think they'd kill it there.
Ford has 3 different markets in the US and Europe, that be USA, UK and rest of Europe. Fiesta was really strong in Euope, but I think that the rebuild the plants for electric vehicles (that happens in Cologne afaik. This is kjilling the platforms, not the share with the US market
I've got a mrk6 St150, and ill keep it till one of dies. Absolute perfection, a 2lt mondeo engine in a firm suspension fiesta.
I have had the privilege of owning 2 Ford Fiesta ST's, a 2016 and 2019. I had to sell my last one because it was so much fun I was taking chances that a 60 year old shouldn't take. I miss it every day. It was the most fun thing I ever bought with money. If you want to know where the next great hot hatch is coming from, go drive a GR Corolla. It is essentially a Fiesta ST with 300hp, and AWD.
Got my son one on order yesterday last few now knocking about so so sad but we got one
Time to buy them and store them they will go up in value in years to come like all fast fords,
Take a look at the US Ford site and the only car is the Mustang, everything else is either an SUV/CUV or a truck which is sad.
The mk8.5 facelift was launched and released with much equipment that was standard on the previous mk8, due according to Ford to semiconductor shortages, funny how the Puma SUV was not affected by the chip shortages whatsoever..........

At least you got to have the last Fiesta ST. Ford abandoned hot hatch enthusiasts in Canada and the US years ago.
I blame Cafe regulations that vet stricter every year.
Also at least the Fiesta had pretty dismal sales. Around 60k units a year. I assume it's hard to justify it with such small profit margins.
Are we forgetting about the Focus ST? I own one, and it's the most fun I've ever had with a car. And like the Fiesta, the mk4 is also the last Focus.
I'd be interested to see which manufactur is going to try and fill the gap left by the Fiesta.
Hyundai i20, another Clio maybe?
VW Polo? Has a Polo ever been that exciting? The Yaris GR is too pricey surely.
I bet Honda's smiling.
All thrown on the bonfire of Net Zero lunacy. Everything fun in this life is being extinguished.
Does the UK get the Elantra N? Or Veloster N?
No we didn't get either of those, the veloster N looks pretty sick
The last fiesta's headlamps just slightly resemble a mk6 ♥️
Missed out loads of fast fiesta's at the beginning of the video
I'm sad that I didn't buy a MK7 ST on the turn from 2016 to 2017
I never understand the SUV thing... my friend had a puma st and inside it wasn't any bigger than my fiesta st the only thing it had an advantage on was the boot, but the puma being bigger means it wasn't as nimble as the fiesta and I just don't get the logic of people going for the crossover over the little hot hatch as it really makes no difference for practicality
I don't like what they have done by sticking the Ford badge in the middle of the grille. It reminds me of a Ford Transit. The earlier model was much nicer.
First one (ST150) is the best 👌
Did Ford specify the exact date they're gonna stop production? I'm still in uni now, I'd like to buy one brand new after I graduate in about 2 years
Too late. Production due to end mid part 2023
June 2023.
Actually July 7th 2023 was the last production day.
I own an i20N, although I almost bought an electric e208. So pleased that I didn’t because of the depreciation on second hand market.
Small hatches like the ST and i20N are increasing or holding in value, so why 🤔Ford are you ending an era?
legitimately underrated car the ford fiesta performance line
I am still keeping my 2013 Fiesta Trend, I aint selling it, the best fun car in my life.
My fiesta hasn't been given the news yet. I don't want her to get depressed. Lmao. On a serious note, i love these cars and am thankful Ford let us Americans get a go at them

@@Mamsaturatdevoi the only other hot hatch I've been in was a mini Cooper unfortunately, but the suspension on the fiesta is very stiff. Pot hole patches will give a little bump, bridges on the freeway can be a bit hard, and anytime I hit any real pot hot it feels like the car is gonna break. I don't mind it since I don't commute or anything so it's mostly for fun and track but if the ride comfort is a concern it may not be the best option I'd say. If you can maybe do a test drive and see what it feels like on the bumps in the area you do the test drive and judge from there is my best advice to give
@@jacobdinsmore8237 Thank you! How would you say the ride compares to that of the Cooper? (and was it the S?)
@@Mamsaturatdevoi I've been in a few minis including an S, and they're a softer ride than the fiesta. The thing is Ford went real tight in the rear especially, which helps with some of the fwd understeer, but it does make the ride more harsh than most on public roads
The fact is that despite sales being down across the board, the Fiesta still accounted for more than 13% of Ford's car sales in Europe.
It's worth pointing out that Ford USA sells fewer EVs than the number of Fiestas sold in Europe. So, naturally they have made the decision to continue selling the Mach E at a loss.
Of course, just made a £2 Billion loss and Deutsche bank moved their stock from 'hold' to 'sell'. When it isn't your money, it doesn't have to make sense.
Thank you
and it's only a 3cyl. I think it shuts down to 2cyl at low speeds aswell.
Had the mk3 focus st and the mk7 fiesta st. Both stage 1 loved them. The theives took the fiesta and it was never found. wouldn't feel confident in getting another.
Unpopular opinion. The Fiesta is the best selling car because either no one has any imagination, or no interest in cars. That being said the ST version is awesome.
It is a strange world. Everybody in a environmental "correct" 2000-2500kg suv, crossover (Chinese) EV thats our future. 😭
Mk7 FiST for life!!!
And the good news is, if you can't afford this a base ST-Line is still brilliant fun.
Also, it's being killed off cos of euro7 emissions turning a 20k car into a 30k car
Fiesta ST one of my favourite cars
Don't agree with it looking gawky. I thought the previous model looked effeminate. This much better.
