Almost 40 years, tragedy and turmoil, but this band has never broken up.
These guys are literally family to each other. They all love one another as brothers.
cept jason, dave, and ron mcgovny
The sound engineer deserves a raise
A raise? The only thing "raised" are the drums, geez (those cymbals are all over the place, c'mon! and where is the bass?)
cant hear Kirk at all....
I'm huge fan of MetallicA, but it sounds like there's autotune behind the scenes.
James is lookin' good and healthy. Boys soundin' good!
And he looks slimer
5:47
Hetfield, we love when you sound like that.
perfect
Wo ooo woooohh ....yeaaaaah 😉
james actually sounds better than the last time they were on here
Sa voix s'est bien reposèe depuis le temps haha
Swear his voice gets better and better with age.
In my opinion, this is the saddest and most relatable Metallica song.
Fade to black is the saddest one ...the last riff can rip ur heart off
Fade to black though.... jus hits diffrent
Sad but true
To Live is to Die has entered the chat
Yeah this and Fade to Black
5:48 Nailed it! 🔥🔥🔥
Yeap, that was really good! nice catch by the way...
Shout out to the people that set up this audio/video for this interview.. Great job!
Lars' snare is sounding like the black album.
Lars still using the China 😩
Finally.
Actually, every snare sound is good as long as it doesn't sound like St. Anger's street can drums.
man, that snare is shit, you need listen to st anger
On the sonofagunass money.
Adorable and nostalgic
Kinda hoped to see Bob Rock’s hand adjusting Kirk’s volume after the solo
lol :D
😂😂😂😂
Oof
no you weren't
Haha
Kirk doesn't have the tremolo to knock at the end so Bob didn't show up
Hope James is doing better. Never was a big Metallica guy but they have a few songs that I really love this being at the top of that list. Was a bummer to hear he was struggling with sobriety again. I hope them being back together means he is on track again
Hey wolf man, go listen to Of Wolf and Man by Metallica
I've heard dozens of live versions of this song. THIS is the most beautiful performance from James since he wrote this lines. James' singing part takes this brilliant song to another level. Its stunning!!
This is exactly the black album tone
Snare are exactly the same i love it so much
Yeah he's def got triggered samples of the album snare on. Smart considering how often his snare sound was the butt of jokes after St. Anger.
Jaycon24 Music I was thinking they may be triggering samples?
I also thought I heard just a touch of autotune in a few spots on vox?
Howard and Metallica are THE rock n roll hall of fame.
Man, Metallica has so many great songs.
So greatful to see them all together again!!! Specially James....rock on guys! Stay safe
Word! 👍
James Hetfield is an authentic country western singer in a hard rocker’s body. Amazing pitch, almost sounds corrected (in a good way).
James sounds and looks amazing. Good for him and whole Metallica family.
Mother fckers looking good with grey hair... still sound great too.., nice work by hetfield switching guitars and fingerpicking to power chords all while singing the track. Dude never broke a sweat
James sounds phenomenal for his age and the amount of touring they’ve done over the years. He is force.
Holy fuck I could close my eyes and swear that was early 90s james live dammm I'm so happy he sounds so good now
I love this song.
That solo always gets me.
Gotta love that Stern is still delivering with the musical performances on his show
The sound engineer deserves his own show.
Damn listen to James at 5:46. Is amazing. I got chills. I wonder if he's working with a coach? He's sounding better than ever!
the best live version of "the unforgiven" since the 90´s
I was 16 when this album came out. Blew my "school smart" little mind that it was all black - like some kind of ancient evil artifact. Then I heard it. It was epic, and time has not tarnished it's power and brilliance.
Beautifully said brother ! 🙏
You old fuck.
Great interview and undoubtedly one of the best bands ever.
James looks like 10 years younger than before rehab.
Sure, but I would say, no wonder, had some time off, 1. because of his own issues he was dealing with and 2. because they couldn't go on with their tour. And all of them aren't young anymore. Even if the life on tour will be more comfortable for them than it was before it sure is exhausting going from here to there and giving 100% at every show.
To my eyes he looks older because he’s aging
Rehab again?
when papa het says " that old man here is me" alot of meaning just coming out at this time.
They’re getting back to the Black album sound
Well they're not stupid, they may have realized that the period from MoP to ReLoad was when they were at the height of their power and prestige. St. Anger, Lulu and Death Magnetic were like Metallica going through a mid life crisis (almost like they were a bunch of middle-age guys or something, y'know?)
Now they've got past it, and they look back at their career and ask themselves "Well, what worked?", pointed at the mid-80s to mid-90s and said "well, THAT shit worked". I'm hopeful for their future. Hardwired represents (to me anyway) the guys hitting the gym and getting back in shape. There were signs of the old band all over that album.
Throughout the years, still a great band for everything they go through. Still a fan!!! Keeping the flame alive!!!
Through everything they go through?? REALLY. This band members has had their ups and downs. But the brand Metallica has never struggled.
The sound engineer doesn't deserve a raise, he deserves a fucking Grammy.
My god this man can still out perform.any of today's artists.. What an epic performance...
James's voice has some added range and tonality! Awesome!
everytime i watch the show i always amazed by the good work from the sound engineer 👍🏼
this song still kicks ass
We need all 3 unforgivens back to back to back in concert
Damn, he nailed that "You label me! I label you!"
Legendary band, legendary song from a legendary album 🤘🏼🤘🏼
Mmm man does this brings back memories
CLEAN! Sounds incredible. Might be best version out there!
5:47 I came here for that, damn James still got this, he is just amazing...
Metallica's music brings you on a journey... every song is a quest
Never paid much attention to Metallica in the past, but that will change. That was so clean. Everyone in the band played great!
_James is still legend at guitar and is still looking good and healthy_
What a snare! 🥰
That was just plain beautiful!!🤧💯
Manual musicians! They're an awesome example for all the youngest guys that wants to rock! Clear and warm voice James, good to see him back healthy and starving to be on stage! God bless you all, guys! ❤️

Great to see James at it again and sounding class. The boys all sounding on point here. The world is a better place when the Metallica legends are about and giving us content to dine on.
And that my friends is what a $2 million Les Paul sounds like.
aka a free $2 million Les Paul for Kirk
prob worth even more at this point.
He said he can't give the exact price but it was under $500,000...
greeny!
kirk actually paid less than 300k for it great deal

Best it’s ever sounded. Great mix. Been playing this song 30 years. THIRTY FUCKEN YEARS!
Timelessly awesome. Way to overcome, James!! Thank you.
I just wanna see the reaction of people who listened to this for the first time
And haters of Lars' drumming and James voice recently
Wow, amazing.

METALLICA sounds incredible esp. at this day n' age...can't say the same for GUNS N' ROSES
I’ve been following these guys for over 30 years, this performance is one of the tightest I’ve ever seen!
Lars timing was 100%!!! Every fill was perfect... this sounded like a perfect studio track with protools.
Wow, they are on top of their game! I’m amazed they pulled off this quality live
