This delightful song was among my cousin’s huge collection of 45’s. We’d play records in my aunt and uncle’s basement in their sweet little midcentury house in Tennessee and dance around. This song was always one of my favorites. Brings tears to my eyes to recall such a wonderful, simple time. Truly a wonderful dream.

We had a war in a foreign land which caused not only death and destruction to that far away people, but vicious arguments around the dinner table a war at home between generations. My mother was born at the end of WW I lived through the Great Depression, and WW II said that the worst period for her was the 1960's. She was afraid for her children. Different perspective for sure.

I heard this song many times as a teenager in the 1970s. I discovered pre-Beatles Reck and Doo Wop on WCBS-FM in NYC (most AM radio played nothing that came out prior to 1964 and the British Invasion). I'm embarrassed to say that all these years I thought the lead singer was a guy singing Falsetto in the Frankie Lymon tradition.. A magnificent song and a graat group! Thank God for CZcams that preserves much of these wonderful Doo Wop tunes.

The lead is a man. His name was Ricky Cordo. The group was promoted mainly because of his high singing voice.
