    I have a '65 and a '66. Wouldn't trade them for a new car.
    They're fun to drive, people really like them. Saturday night drives to the hamburger stand is just cool.

    Im seriously impressed. Fuel injection and disk brakes with upgraded suspension. And the 318 has the same M/T valve covers i had. I had a 69 Barracuda in the late seventies and there were people who used home speakers in their cars. At the time high power car stereos were just starting and I had a 30 watt Craig cassette player with radio shack 8" woofers and big midrange horns all built into the wooden divider between the trunk and the back window. I had a bed in the back because you could camp out in these cars. Yours is beautiful, dont ever let it go!

    Very cool. Been a fan of Barracuda's ever since they came out. In 1969 my fourth grade teacher drove a pale yellow/ivory with gold interior '65 Barracuda. A couple of year's later in '71 my older brother bought a '67 Barracuda notchback from our next door neighbor. He got married and went on his honeymoon in that car. He bought another '67 Barracuda notchbach so he and his wife both drove Barracuda's. Several of my friend's owned Barracuda's at one time or another. My dream car, but I never could get the money at the right time for one. I managed to luck into a beautiful '71 Challenger convertible in 1983 thank's to help from my incredible mother...Thank's mom! Still have the Challenger but she need's restored. I hope to do that and find a Barracuda before I die.

    Good video! Thanks for sharing it.
    My dad had a bright red 1964 Barracuda with a 273 V8 and the push button transmission. It was in excellent condition. Original everything. It wasn't in showroom condition but it was definitely in excellent shape. He took it to a few local car shows and scooped up a small handful of prizes. He had it from about '85 to 2005. He kept it in great shape but then realized he couldn't keep it rust-free when it shared a garage (in Illinois) with cars that were driven in the winter. He had to sell it, but it really did break his heart to do so. I took my date to Senior Prom in it in '97. Stupidly and recklessly drove it at about 125 mph (I SWEAR the speedometer in my dad's went up to something higher - 120+?? 130?? This isn't at all to brag but I KNOW that I saw 125mph on the speedo - so now I'm just wondering if your/his speedo is aftermarket) on a straight, flat stretch of road - like nearly 4 miles of straightaway! - and it was a lot of fun. My date was laughing. I shouldn't have done that, but I did, and we lived to tell the tale. (and yes, I was fully sober) I'm not going to confirm or deny anything more racy than this (it's not necessary), but even from a fairly wholesome perspective for young adults, having that backseat that folds down and joins the large storage area (AND the trunk that can be added to it, also!) equals one ideal spot to watch the stars with your girlfriend/boyfriend/spouse.
    Ideal! Put a few pillows over that big bar and even a 6 foot plus guy can stretch out fully and "comfortably"! Or hell, even if you're just alone and find yourself under a beautiful night sky (imagine taking this car out into the deserts of Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, etc. - or Wyoming "big sky country"!). These cars are SO underrated. They run so well. They're powerful, they're fun, and they look incredible and unique! I'd argue that they're somewhat more attractive than the almighty Mustangs.
    I wish you the very best of luck with this project (which, by the way, is made that much more interesting by the fact that you're -by your own admission- not rolling in money) and I would personally advise you to NEVER SELL THIS CAR!

    • @martinbramah2224
      @martinbramah2224 Před 3 lety +2

      ADDENDUM: Normally I am against any more than the very slightest modifications to these old beauties. Too bad you needed to add the hood w/ the scoop, but that's how it goes. But it's not a major change. I hope you're not considering jacking it up in the back (one or two inches, maaaaaybe, tops!). Anyway, a nice paint job (black or red or a very dark blue - or a deep purple!!) could do wonders. The old album covers as a temporary headliner is actually pretty cool. Do it right and that could be a sweet permanent modification. More interesting than a normal headliner and still serves its intended purpose!

    • @martinbramah2224
      @martinbramah2224 Před 3 lety +2

      Ok, his was a ‘64 w/ the push button transmission, and yours is a ‘65 so perhaps that explains the speedometer difference. You might wanna get a new speedometer as I’m fairly sure your beast will easily exceed a mere 110mph!! 🙂
      Drive safely and defensively, though!

I loved this car but being a stupid 16 year old got a chance to trade for a 68 Mustang still regret that some 50 years latter ...I would love to run across my old Barracuda ..Yeah and you're correct they weren't looked at as a sports car but with the rear jacked up 4 inches a set wide 60s on chrome mags with 70s on the front with the chrome mags chrome valve covers as well as a chrome rear end cap I had dual exhaust with chrome pipes coming out the back .I hope you get a good buyer for this one if you sell it . I try to get you a part number. As for wiring they plug right in although you will have to supply a 12v 30amp relay to stock wiring harness in between the headlight switch and the headlights
