I am in Paris at the moment, for the olympics. I visited a lot of stores. Visited Marly as well. The rep told me Shagya has been discontinued... rip Shagya.

But he hyped up Oud For Greatness / Black Phantom and then said she couldn’t the the smell because one was oversprayed on someone she walked by.

I greatly enjoy PDM fragrances. I collect because I enjoy a scent and PDM have a lot of great fragrances. Subjective is the land of fragrances lol. The way you feel about PDM is how I feel about MFK!!!

Wow, surprised to see a PDM review 😂. I’ve had a few bottles of PDM in my fragrance journey but have now sold them off. Akaster was my favorite of the bunch. I think PDM is a house for people transitioning from designer to niche fragrances 🤷♂️

I had a sample of Shagya. I found it wanting (same goes for all of their transparent bottles series). There was something missing there, or a misplaced note. I couldn't really put my finger on the note, but I just couldn't wear it. We had a major promotion in my area for New Years - I could've bought the 125ml FB for 70% off (less than 100$), but didn't get it. I don't collect FB for the sake of bottles - I don't buy bottles that I don't use regularly... there are samples and decants for that.
I do have 2 PdM FBs - Godolphin (an office-safe version of an adorable scent - TL), and Carlisle, the pre-reformulation version... an elegant scent (the opening is rough, but the drydown is to my liking).
I intend to buy Oajan after reformulation (the old version is too strong for me). It's a gorgeous scent, but it has to be watered down a bit to strike a perfect balance.
I know you like Herod, but on my skin it was weak (that's an understatement of monumental proportion, as it lasts less than 1 hour ), and it becomes quite boring on me. No magic/wow factor there.

I liked it. Think it was the first one that I smelled from them. It was early on in my journey, so maybe I was way off, but it reminded me of vetiver fragrances like a fresher Encre Noir (A L'Extreme)

Ran through samples of the PDM line this last summer to get an understanding of the brand. Really shocked at how my experience lined up with the hype. Generally, I found the artistry behind each scent to be somewhere between derivative and uninspiring, and the quality of the ingredients to be quite poor overall. Definitely not a $300+ bottle. Id probably tap at $75 on these. Liked the fresh blue scents (percival, sedley) more than any of their oriental-type heavier scents.
Believe it or not I havent smelled those fresher offerings from the brand
I just think its a shite brand lol
@@RamseytheRam you aren't mistaken. The shiniest turds in the pile are still turds. Percival is like a dumbed down Clive Christian Rock Rose / dressed up mall fragrance, Sedley is like a fresh coca cola, simplified Roja Oceania. But the magic only lasts ~40 minutes before the shaky base is all you have left

Cheers Rams, I do indeed have an experience of sorts with this fragrance,purchased a bottle 3 years ago and it never arrived to me as it was broken by the logistic company sadly ( or not lol ) .however it was a hell of a job to retrieve my money as both the distributor and Logistics company ran me in circles for months, I finally got my refund (strong arm tactics had to be enforced sadly) anyways that turned me off the whole idea of getting it elsewhere and I never did get my nose on it 😊,so I appreciate your take and I’m now satisfied I wanna say 😂.oh yeah I’m also a sucker for Western Oud types ,who knew hahaha ✌️🙏👍

I just bought the travel size atomizer for Great Britain and instantly fell in love, which was the same reaction for Homme and I'm torn between the two as they're quite pricey and would have to choose one for a leather scent. Although, I think I'm leaning towards Great Britain, which would make it my seventh Roja Parfums fragrance. I'm a sucker for great packaging and perfume bottles. I'm also currently waiting for two Diaghilev travel size atomizers to try them as well.
Pass for me, but i had a few bottles when they first came out: Herod Layton, and Carlisle (rare Harrods bottle) but i sold them because it's a 'bro club' i didn't want to be a member of... zero regrets, especially as i sold them half-full to batch collectors for more than retail... as tbf the first formulations were nuclear, if that's your thing.

OK, I give up... the price of Shagya just went down to 48$ for a new FB in my neck of the woods. For this price, it's a worthy buy (hell, it's the same price as a decant).
I'm going to buy the last bottle in the local market for this ridiculous price.
My 3rd PdM (well, technically my 4th PdM FB purchase, as I bought Oajan and sold it).
All of my ouds are "western ouds" (OW, Carved Oud and Accord Oud to name a few). Didn't reach the level of hardcore oud yet. I have a few samples of ME ouds, but I can't wear them as of yet... getting there.
For 48 bucks go for it! Spray spray spray away 😂😂😂

I've just layered Shagya with Portrayal Man, and the end result was total awesomeness.

Yeah. Those are the only two PDMs I had. I’ve used both of them , now I have zero PDMs.
0 PDM > 1 PDM > 2 PDM ...
I own Shagya. Bought it at the start of my fragrance journey. I think it's decent, but I hardly ever wear it. There are two PdM fragrances I really like: Byerley and Lippizan.
Never smelled either of those... will put them on the never ending to sniff list 🐽

Thank you for having the balls to give a negative review on a severely overhyped house. I have Herod and quite like it. I've smelled Layton and I think it's decent. The rest of this house can go f off and soak itself in its fuzzy synthetic base these all seem to have. I remember watching a review of Layton Exclusif years ago here on YT and the reviewer said "soooo great, they niche-ified it, guys!" and I flipped off the screen. Wasn't Layton already niche priced? lol

PdM on the channel, that’s rare! I have nothing to add, you said everything in a perfect way, all in this video. For perfume lovers, this house means basically nothing. I heard Hamdani is good, but they discontinued it, what a surprise, it didn’t sell and people got no compliments of it. Their new fragrance is a sweet synthetic mess. It’s always interesting to see you talking about these houses on the channel. I personally like when you bash a fragrance or a brand, you have reasons and arguments. And sometimes, it can be unpredictable with these houses, you enjoyed something about this one, I thought it would be a complete dislike. Cheers!

lol i got that same gift set of the homage a l'homme. couldnt believe it for 30 bucks. it is really nice but unfortunately my portrayal man completely overshadows it whenever i want violet so its kinda collecting dust now.
by the way, when i got portrayal sort of recently from a discounter i recieved a frankenstien bottle. thought it was def fake until i smelled it and then compared it to the sample of portrayal i had previously and its the exact same juice from the older sample vial. it has portrayal on the front but not on the sides, yet still has portrayal written on the collar. old style box.....weird.
Damn! Yes portrayal is another of Chongs under rated creations... just like Journey Man... I will review it soon 💪🐏
@@RamseytheRam i basically agree with every word you said in the journey vid, and i have the old one with name on side but its a 1.7oz. i was also kinda struck by how unloud it was but super, super unique and interesting
