Coming from a dysfunctional family structure with so much trauma in my lineages, I really resonate with the mission of breaking generational curses. Also being disconnected from my homeland (Jamaica) makes me sad, to top it off I must contend with white consciousness and white washing in my daily living in Canada. I’m so glad that I lean into a more African consciousness and proud of the parts of my lineage and culture that are connected to that Maroon history and teachings.

Kemiticism is what I think the ancient Egyptian consciousness is called in these modern times. Hotep (htp) means "be at peace" or "peace be with you" and interestingly it was used as a greeting. I guess we used to greet with more intent back then, because even the now formal "sawubona" used to be "siyanibona" meaning "me and my people see you and your people". And who doesn't like to be seen?
