Just recently we abolished "Child Marriage", which sounds as bad as you can imagine it; and we are trying so hard to denormalize having relationships with minors. But... It's still an uphill battle in some people's mindset. A LOT of those people, actually.
I get what Five was trying to say. Some cultures are cool with what we in West call "Underage". LIke you're kinda an adult around 16ish years old. As terrible as this is, he could have gotten away with it if it was 1 girl. But if he has a bullpen of girls, then he's cooked.
My mom's side of the family is Dominican and she has told me stories about the sexual abuse she suffered growing up when she vacationed down in DR with her family so this unfortunately doesn't surprise me.
Age of consent is still 18 in the DR. It's not really accepted either, the difference is over there income in the average household is lower so they can just bribe their way out of it through politicians and authorities, and the power dynamic is different in keeping that sort of thing under wraps. Like 5 said, less scrutiny.
