This is one of the bands to watch, no question. They just started in 2019 and are blowing up fast. As you can see from the gang vocals, they don't take themselves too seriously-Hazuki even winks. They almost seem to be enjoying a private joke, that goes "Hi, we're a bunch of cute, fun girls and we are going to rip your face off, and you are going to like it.”
Nemophil-a (NOT “Nemophil-i-a) were founded in 2019. They are a supergroup composed of:
Mary's Blood guitarist Saki
ex-Lipstick vocalist Mayu
ex-Disqualia guitarist Hazuki (also plays with Lisa-X)
ex-Hölderlins bassist Haraguchi-san, and
ex-Soramimi drummer Muratatam (also does other projects)
Initially, they were just a side project, co-organized Mayu with some help from Saki. They started off posting metal covers of well-known rock, pop and metal songs. Then they began posting originals, starting with “Oiran” czcams.com/video/eyb2NtPwcxc/video.html
The viral reaction seems to have convinced them they were onto something potentially big, so they’ve been putting a lot more work into it, including some successful live-streams and an appearance at the annual Japanese female rock festival NAONのYAON. They tend toward hard and heavy, but also do ballads and some pop covers. Drummer Murata Tamu took time off to give birth to her son, and on her return, the rest of the bandmembers gave her a welcome back that resulted in an extremely moving moment captured on live stream: “Life” czcams.com/video/HFnEYhbEAqg/video.html

Saki is the only one who had been with a breakout band before (Mary’s Blood); Hazuki and Murata-tamu are also considered elite musicians and have worked with a lot of other top artists. Hara-san is the youngest but is clearly a great talent and has been developing in front of our eyes. And of course Mayu is quickly establishing herself as a one of the world’s best metal vocalists.

One of the greatest metal bands around today...together with LOVEBITES (also from Japan).
My favorite band these days. Just saw them in LA, and they were incendiary.
They don't have a bad song. RAITEI is their first music video so you could try that next. They also did amazing covers for their fans during COVID and that's another reason why they are loved so much. My favorites are their Japanese band covers as they have introduced me to bands I'd never hear. Great people...great musicians...great band.

There are many super talented Metal bands in Japan. Nemophila, Aldious, Lovebites... And the band that's going to bring back Hard Rock... is a band called Band Maid... Checkout their official live video of a song called "Play"... If you like it there are many, many more.

If you liked her scream voice and want to go a bit heavier heavier, check out their song 'DISSENSION'. If you want something more to the rock side, their very first original song 'Oiran' is a flat out banger. If you want to see them handle a cover (they do *lots* of great covers) a good place to start is with their version of Iron Maiden's Aces High.
ALL their stuff is great. Like Japanese metal bands they morph genres but they are all world class musicians with a world class vocalist. They are also doing this on their own, independent and no label to fuck with.

Nemophila just performed their first overseas (not in Japan) concert (one man show) on July 1st at The Whiskey in LA. They will comeback in October for the Aftershock festival in Sacramento.
