This store pisses me off... people come with 5k are are put in the same Dando London garbage for 1,5k and people who come with limited budget are put in dresses that cost double... wtf?

This, like so many reality shows, is highly manipulated into displaying these various scenarios for entertainment. Not always true to what the bride has actually ended up doing, but it always gets our attention. It's exasperating at times, but fun to watch if I keep that in mind. By the way, I thought the more expensive dress was ugly and way too fussy on her---the simple one was gorgeous and let her and her wonderful hair be the star.

Most stores usually have a sales rack or entry level designers with gowns around 1000-1300. He definitely could have been closer than double the budget

Honey that store apparently only has one dress under 1900 and it's the same (stunning for the right bride) mori lee gown.
I didn't understand the permission, he asked Mum, I assumed she was putting in the difference. If she wasn't why ask her and why did Mum say yes. If the bride is paying he asks her, no one else.

Yes the mom did say she would help in the end but the bridesmaids offered to help first I think, it seemed like there was a pause from the mom. Maybe it was edited for drama. It just seemed like the mom was quick to say sure go over your budget but slow to say I will help you pay for the dress you fell in love with..

I'm 46, married long time ago, only with witnesses, no family, friends or even party... in my favorite stripy pants (casual, and worn a lot already) - *that* much I don't care about bridal stuff
but these things are addictive... for so many reasons. I love seeing people happy, when it's that kind of episode, or myriads of other people's reactions, and personalities...
it's good escapism, this is stressful year, after all

A dress can take over 30 hours of work...the labor is intense. $1000 is quite inexpensive. Want cheaper? Go thrift shopping or online or secondhand.

Would you want people to shortchange you in your industry? No. So then stop assuming that everyone else should be.

I think Gok would have said £1,000 budget is a good budget and had several very lovely dresses for her in that price range. There was one episode, I think, where the bride had about half of that to spend? And he delivered. :-) But then, Gok isn't tied with ball and chain to Christine Dando's designs.

The dress is beautiful. The headpiece sucks. I love her supportive group even after the bride kept saying she could not afford to go over budget. They were all on one accord and all decided to pitch in. Great group.

I’m glad her friends helped her out but sometimes a bridal shop is not for you. There are other places with more selection at her budget.

$1000 is a healthy budget! why wouldn’t it be enough for a bridal gown that she’s only gonna wear for one day. dresses are getting expensive these days. what a sad reality we live in 😔
It's actually more like $1300 with current conversion rates so that's an even better budget! This version of the show and always "upping the budget" 🙄

Because the one day they wanna wear the kind of dress that is expensive not only to make but produce the fabric for. More bling and puff, more cost for the material and labor. That's why it's so expensive. It's really labor and skill demanding thing to make a dress. And these dresses, or most of them tbh, are all polyester, don't even try to imagine how much would dress with hand made cotton lace and natural fabric would cost, you'd faint. Most people obviously have no idea what labor goes into these gowns and garments in general, thanks to fast fashion... So £1000 might be ok, but not for the kind of the dress she wants, it's unreal unless it's making 5 years old kid in Asia from a plastic scrap...

I noticed that this is the only store on this series that had NEVER gave a bride a discount for whatever reason. And always has to stretch the budget.
When they said they would up the budget, i thought they would go up to like £1200-1300, instead they almost doubled it 😒 i find that.. weird?

My niece had a lovely dress that had even been on the cover of a bridal magazine. It was $900.
There's a lot that can go into making a dress. I once made a wedding veil and the cost of the lace trim was so expensive and the time it takes to make can cost a lot. Yes of course you can find cheaper options but those are prolly made overseas and are considered fast fashion. Of course not everyone can afford expensive pieces and there is no judge there 😊 but as a fashion design major, I like to spread awareness about how much backbreaking work goes into sewing and tailoring.
I went to a small shop and got my dress, hoop and veil for £1,135. Mine is also a designer ballgown, made in the UK
