- ✨The best cleaning hacks of 2023 ✨
A compilation of my favorite cleaning hacks from the last year!
1️⃣ use denture tablets to remove tough stains in your toilet. 🚽 drop them in, let it sit for 10-30 min, then scrub!
2️⃣ Remove scruffs from shoes on your floor with a clean tennis ball! 🎾
3️⃣ Rusted Pots & Pans? 🍳 grab half a lemon 🍋, sprinkle baking soda on it, and scrub with the lemon. You’ll be amazed by how quickly it’s removed!
4️⃣ Use an old pillowcase to remove dust from your ceiling fan WITHOUT dropping dust all over the floor! 💨
5️⃣ When you finish cleaning your toilet 🚽, place your toilet brush scrubber between the seats to let it dry! So it doesn’t mold in the canister 🤢
6️⃣ Smelly shoes are such a problem! 👟 Place dryer sheets in each shoe, to get a fresh scent instead of the foot sweat 🦶🏻you once had 🙃
7️⃣ Sprinkle Baking soda on your carpet, let it sit for 10+ min, then vaccum it up to deodorize your rugs! 👃
8️⃣ Place the whole trash bag roll into the bin, leave the bag attached and when it’s full, pull up and rip, you’ll have an endless supply of bags, without having to reach to the bottom to get them 🚮🗑️
9️⃣ Instead of a duster, use a lint roller to pick up dust and debris off of lampshades 💡
And that is the round up! Follow us for more cleaning hacks, home tips, and organization inspiration in 2024!!
Happy new year! 🎊

Heads up tho ppl, dont do the lemon pot cleaning hack on the pots that have copper bottoms, that type of acid plus copper is super toxic!!!!
Thank you for the heads up! That is correct!!😊
baking soda is a base, they will neutralize each other (making both less effective). I don't know why there are so many acid with baking soda "hacks" the fizzing doesn't make it a good cleaner. It's a chemical reaction between the two making both closer to neutral. Baking soda and water, baking soda and dish soap, great options. Vinegar or lemon juice are also great, without baking soda. Salt can provide an abrasive component if you like that aspect of baking soda.... not saying for pots or pans, just general cleaning.
The baking soda on the carpet is not good for the vacuum! It clogs if and make weird sounds
Old pillowcase to clean fans is GENIUS! 🤯 thank you so much!
You're so welcome! I'm thrilled you found the old pillowcase trick helpful. Such a simple yet effective way to clean fans. Happy cleaning! 😊❤
Yessss, that one is brilliant!!
Meissssemo
Doing this tonight! Can't wait to get the dust off without it going all over the place.
I use old socks same effects 😊
Instead of just putting the garbage bags at the bottom of the bin, I will actually put about 6 bags at a time in my bin and I just pull out the full one and there’s already a bin liner ready to go plus it serves a purpose in case you have something that’s leaking in your bin, the next bin liner will catch it…
That's what I do! Have for years.
That's a great idea!
I do the same!
And you might need to double the bag sometimes.
I learned from hotels to just leave an extra bag (folded) under the main one. But the idea of leaving the whole roll there is cool! Unfortunately, it’s not very useful to me anymore, as I’ve stopped using bags in the small cans (except my bathroom, and then I just reuse the same bag forever). That’s TMI, sorry. LOL
FYI, putting dryer sheets in your shoes in the garage by your door will actually keep spiders and bugs from hiding in there because they hate the smell so replace them often
Funny you said that because we keep sneakers and boots in the garage and whenever i go to put them on i always wonder if something is in there lol. We've even had mice in the garage.
Make sure it’s lavender though as it’s toxic for spiders and that’s what prevents them also if you spray doors and windows with either fabuloso lavender or take mint mouthwash and 50/50 ratio it with water and do the same thing it will prevent them inside the home as well as mosquitoes with the mint mix. Essential oils work too but sometimes I know that and fabuloso can cause allergies so the mouthwash is what we use because of my daughter. Best part is the mouthwash is non toxic for my little ones
Just FYI baking soda is such a fine particle it can ruin the motor of your vacuum over time.
Good point. My vacuum came with instructions that stated not to vacuum plaster (drywall) dust for that very reason.
It’s also very hard to get all of the baking soda out of the carpet. I did a bit of Googling there’s a lot of professional carpet cleaners who suggest that people don’t use baking soda on the carpets.
Thanks for sharing your concern! The impact can vary depending on the amount of baking soda used and the type of vacuum, including whether it's bagless or bagged. In my experience, I haven't encountered any issues, but it's always good to be aware of different perspectives. 😊
It can also destroy your carpets because baking soda is abrasive and you are unlikely to get all of it out of your carpet. It's a bad idea that just keeps getting repeated by well-meaning misinformed people.
Most vacuum companies don’t recommend using any type of powder products on your carpet, it will end up clogging up the system and it won’t be covered by its warranty if you use these products on your carpet, including baking soda or baking powder…😅
Love the toilet bowl scrub brush trick 👌
Thank you! Glad you liked it! ❤️
I prefer to wash my toilet bowl brush thoroughly with fresh water - in the sink. Sometime there’s icky stuff in the brush when you finish scrubbing.
I do that, drives my husband crazy!
Baking soda works too and it’s cheaper.
@@ICHope1that's disgusting 🤢
Bar keepers powder is the absolute best thing for the pans and stainless steel sinks.
Absolutely agree! Bar Keepers Friend is a game-changer for pans and stainless steel sinks. Total kitchen essential! 🍳✨
The "Scrub Daddy" paste makes my Cooper bottom pots & pans sparkle like thru are brand new
@@tammyeble8304 Scrub Daddy PowerPaste $9.88 vs Bar Keepers Friend Cleanser Powder $2.24 and my 25 year old copper pans look like new inside and out. :)
Add-on about the fan. Leave the fitted sheet on the bed and clean the ceiling fan blades. That way any dirt will fall on the sheet. Then remove and wash the fitted sheet. I clean the fan every time I switch sheets out.
Swifter once a week, takes less than 5 minutes to do two fans. Never dust build up to worry about falling particles. The dollar general brand just as good, a lot cheaper. 🌹
That's a brilliant!! Keeping the fitted sheet on the bed while cleaning the ceiling fan blades is such a clever idea. Thanks for sharing this additional hack - definitely adding it to my cleaning routine! ❤
Oh, me too!
Cut some slits in your sponge and wet to clean the Track on your glass sliding patio door, or shower door track
Fantastic tip! Cutting slits in the sponge for cleaning tracks is a game-changer. Thanks for sharing this advice! 😊
I've used a lint roller on lamps before and felt like a crazy person even though it works like a charm 😂
I feel validated now lmao
Haha, no craziness here-just a genius hack in action! So glad you feel validated. keep rocking those lint roller moments! 😂
I put a piddle pad in the bottom of Mt trash cans to keep them clean. If anything leaks, I can just change out the piddle pad
Great idea!!😊 I'm always afraid to keep the roll in the bottom for that exact reason. It's bad enough when it leaks, but I definitely don't want that nastiness on my clean roll of bags.
I use the newspaper i have read.
Great ideas. The trash bag one though I have found can ruin the roll if one bag is defective and you have a leaker. We used to do this on the work floor and I had to toss out the roll that was soaked in some gross waste.
Good point! The trash bag hack can have downsides, especially if there's a leak. Consider using it for less wet garbage areas to avoid issues. Thanks for sharing! 😊❤️
Oh no hate that. I was thinking it was a genius idea but we often have something sharp cut the bags so I don't think I'll try this I saw one where you put three bags in a layer so you just take out one and have another ready to go. A combination of both might be good. I always forget where the bags are when it comes time to take out the trash.😂
I did this for the last year! Works great! Just don’t get cheap bags! 😊
If the trash is smelly then the rest of the bags will acquire the smell.
Been doing this for years... The trick is not to put liquid into the trash
These are some of the best hacks I’ve seen. Especially the ceiling fan one. 👍
Thank you! I'm thrilled you found the hacks helpful, especially the ceiling fan tip. If you have any more questions or if there's anything else you'd like to see, feel free to let me know! 😊❤❤
Old socks with lemon juice works wonders on fans as dust and have scent when spin throw socks away
@@darlenemstrommer7687Why not just wash them inside out & reuse?
Omg lint roller??!!!!! Thanks for that! No more dusty lamps 🥲
You're welcome! Say goodbye to dusty lamps! Lint rollers work wonders. 😄
this is a good one!
Or just use a swiffer duster that is slightly tacky and it cleans it off, also a microfiber cloth, or a vacuum all do the same thing.
I got a trash bag hack...use the grocery store bag as a trash bag
Great hack! Repurposing grocery store bags as trash bags is a smart and eco-friendly move. Simple solutions for everyday tasks! 😊
We don’t get them anymore.
1950’s housewife hacks mostly we’ve gone back in time lol
Haha, it's true! Sometimes the classics just work. Back to the basics with a touch of nostalgia! 😄
Great tips, I cut up dryer sheets to put in my closets, shoe shelf and luggage.
Yes! Great way to get a fresh scent!
What can I use for hair removal
That bin bag one is going to change MY LIFE. Thank you!!! ❤❤❤❤
You're welcome! I'm thrilled to hear it! If you have any more tips or questions, feel free to share. Happy cleaning! ❤️
Do not use baking soda, especially on old carpet. It attracts moisture. If your home is high humidity or low heat, this will cause more odor, especially when you have pets.
It might vary based on the quantity of baking soda and the type of vacuum used. I've never encountered any issues using this method. 😊
Denture Cleaning Tablets are my "go to" for a lot of cleaning situations (windows, mirror, inside of the toilet, the faucet, inside of used flower vase, cleaning of the tiled floor, cleaning up barf of my cat, ...) I started it years back, when i suddenly ran out of typical cleaning substances. It works quite good
Thank you for this comment because I couldn't hear what the lady said, she spoke too quickly - due to your comment I now understand she said denture cleaning tablets!
I sadly have found the denture tablets to not work with my toilets 😢
Ooo I love the trashbag one!! I've never thought of that.
'm glad you liked the trash bag hack! It's a simple yet effective way to make cleaning up easier. ❤️
You can risk tearing the garbage bag when its full potally spilling it all over and on your clean new roll..
@@lakshmishreev8539really? Did that happen when you tried it? I was going to try with small light weight bags like the one she used.
As a janitor, I don't like leaving the bags attached to each other. It seems strange but it is easier to just change the bag.
Lemon.and salt work well to clean copper/copper bottom pots and pans. I like the fabric sheet tip!!
Absolutely! The lemon and salt trick for cleaning copper or copper-bottom pots is a game changer, isn't it? Glad you liked the fabric sheet tip too! ❤️
The copper plus lemon makes the metal create toxic by product. Plz be careful!
the pillowcase was good until you realize you do not want to wash that and you’re not gonna keep wasting pillowcases every time you clean. I just find spraying down the dust so its wet and doesnt fly everywhere and then just cleaning with paper towels.
Right! Even a wet microfiber rag will keep dust from flying around.
It's not that bad if you shake them out outside first 🤷♀️
@@tammyrawdon3587yes and then rinse. Before washing i mostly have a bucket with clothes that needs some extra attention that later joins the normal load. Stayed there for the night with some special detergent.
@@margreetdoodeman1441 Yes, great idea! I'm not sure what OP meant by "wasting pillowcases" bc you're not supposed to throw them away (& it's not like it's a whole load), but I've found that sometimes wetting dust just makes it smear 🤷🏻♀️
I don't know if it's the kind of rag I'm using or what?
@@tammyrawdon3587 i do not know about the rag, i do not even have a fan and where i live it is not so dusty. That comes with the heat. But what she said in the vid is that she could not put the pillow sleeve in the washing machine, she was worried it would affect the other materials in the machine.
The trash bag roll idea in the trash can is GENIUS
I'm so glad you liked the trash bag roll idea!❤️
I’ve been using lint rollers on lampshades for years. My husband thought I was insane
Lint rollers on lampshades are a game-changer. It might seem unconventional, but the results speak for themselves! 😄
@@home_reimaginedwhat are you cleaning the stove door with?
Great tips except the b soda. Bad for Vacuum - according to repairman
And also not good for carpet fibers
Thanks for the tip! Baking soda might affect vacuums, it depends on the volume used but in my experience, and so far, I haven't had any issues. 😊
@@home_reimagined it’s a subtle time thing. You don’t know until . . .
Very useful thank you!!
Glad to hear that! ❤️
These were great tips...❤
Thanks! Glad you like them! ❤️❤️
These are great tips😊
Glad you think so!
Garbage bag trick works for small cans. I have broken a full trash bag doing this on a large can. What a mess.
Oh no, sorry to hear about the mishap! Yeah, the bag trick's a champ for small cans, but larger ones can be a challenge. Thanks for sharing, it's good to know what works in different situations! 😊
The fan hack is a life saver. Thank you!!!
I'm so glad to hear that the fan hack helped you out! It's amazing how something so simple can make a big difference. ❤️
I REALLY appreciate these cleaning hacks!!
Thank you so much! ❤️❤️
I love the pillow case idea
So glad you found the pillowcase idea helpful! It's a simple yet effective trick. 😊
Back when my boys were teenagers and still at home, along with three Chihuahua's, I had about a fiftren minute notice my cousin was passing through and decided to stop by unexpectedly.
I ran around my house and put a bunch of dryer sheets inside my couch cushions, on mattresses before the fitted sheets, inside pillow shams & pillowcases, and even in empty vases around the house. Later I asked if my house smelled like dog or sweaty boys and was told they thought maybe I had had a candle burning somewhere. It may not have even been bad, but I was self-conscious.
That fan hack shouldn't be free. Premium. I've been putting off cleaning my fan for a minute, and now I've cleaned it in a minute. Thank you!
So glad to hear the fan hack worked wonders for you! Sometimes the simplest tips make the biggest difference. Thanks for the feedback! 😄✨
Love your Michigan cutting board. I have the same one. ❤
Check with your vacuum cleaner manufacturer as most do not like you vacuuming up baking soda.
You actually had some good ideas!
Thank you so much! I'm glad you found the ideas helpful. If you have any more tips or suggestions, feel free to share! 😊👍
Great ideas!!❤
Thanks! Glad you like them! ❤️
Love this!
The tennis ball hack we used in gym class in the early 90s. I can't imagine we were the first to do that back then.
Ah, the good old tennis ball hack! It's amazing how those tricks stick around. Classic moves from back in the day! 😄😄
8/9 of these our parents had us doing in the 90s. Glad something’s stay handed down over time
Absolutely! Some cleaning hacks are timeless classics. It's great when traditions stick around. ✨ What's your favorite nostalgic cleaning tip from back then? 😊
Ok the lint roller and garbage bag hacks are good! As far as the dryer sheets in the sneakers, why do people even keep all their stinky shoes near the door. Air them out occasionally: try opening up the laces really wide, putting some foot powder or baking soda in the shoe and leave in the sun to dry, it's the moisture causes the smells.
Glad you liked the lint roller and garbage bag hacks! Those are some great tips for freshening up shoes. Thanks for sharing your suggestions! ❤️
Also putting crumpled up newspaper in them will dry them out faster.
@@tammyrawdon3587 👍agree. We do that if shoes or sneakers get wet. Helps keep the shape until they've dried out. Just don't leave the wet paper in there 😉

My favorite way to do my ceiling fans ❤
That's awesome! The pillowcase trick for ceiling fans is a game-changer. Happy cleaning! 😊
Baking soda is also great for absorbing pee related accidents.
Absolutely! Baking soda works wonders for handling pee-related accidents. It's a versatile and handy solution. 😊
Pillow case is my favorite!

These are actual useful hacks 🤯
Yes, they are pretty handy, right? 🤯 Glad you think so! If you have any more tips or questions, feel free to share! 😊
Fantastic! 👍
Many thanks! ❤️❤️
I use denture tabs and a little liquid soap to remove tea stains from mugs.
I use banking soda to brush my teeth. It prevents cavities and not bad breath all day, and floss your teeth once a day. Make sure baking soda is the one and only ingredient in the box
That's a fantastic dental hack! Baking soda does wonders, both for cleaning and maintaining a healthy smile. Two birds, one box! 😁
Use Bobs Red Mill baking soda. No aluminum. Arm & Hammer uses aluminum as a bleaching agent
Employers look more at job experience than degrees, but getting an edication is important
There are also toilet brush holders which are not just "stuff them in"-jars, but where they can hang and dry freely. Also, if you bonk them a couple of times against the toilet after flushing them, they are mostly dry anyways
These are some very good hacks!
love the trashcan trick!!!!!!!!
Glad you liked it! For more tips, feel free to follow! 😄❤️
Since most ceiling fans are high, an extending bendable duster us what I use. It is easier and worth 20-30$
Totally agree! That extendable duster is a lifesaver, especially when you just can’t reach those high spots.😃
Love the trainer hack thank you!! Never knew, that one zx
You're welcome! So glad you found the hack helpful!
If you've got hard water stains in your toilet bowl, you can use a pumice stone. It's the only thing that worked on my stubborn marks.
Absolutely! Pumice stones work wonders on tough stains too! Thanks for sharing!😊
Thanks
Your so welcome!! ❤️❤️
Love these except baking soda will ruin most vacuum cleaners after a while :(
That pan is not rusty. It has baked on grease/oil. A little Bar Keepers Helper does a bang up job.
Sneakers with white bottoms will also remove scuffs ( did you ever notice a house keeper in a hospital with white bottom sport shoes?
Thank you Sis1😊
Always welcome!! Glad you like them!! ❤️❤️
Thanks for sharing these ❤

Use a dishwasher pod to your soap water to remove stain and the rinse leave no water stains to your dishwasher
Great hacks ! ❤❤❤thank you
You're welcome! Glad you liked the hacks! ❤️❤️❤️

Go to a local park with tennis courts and you'll find plenty of old tennis balls to clean the floor scuffs.
Great tip! Local parks with tennis courts are a goldmine for finding old tennis balls to tackle floor scuffs. Thanks for sharing! 😁😁
Repurpose-reuse….love it 👍
Just so we are clear, you don't need a tennis ball for the scuffs on the floor. Just run the heel/bottom of your shoe over it. Unless you're wearing cleats or high heels, the heel of your shoe should remove the scuff just as easily without a toy and without bending over.
Thanks for the tip! 👍 That’s a great idea-definitely saves a step! 😊
Omg! So amazing and great idea for your channel!
Hope you liked it! Feel free to ask any questions or share your own tips and hacks. 😊

Don't do the trash bag that wat. I've had the bags rip open and huge mess occurs. Keep extra in bottom of can and put them on the side under the current one.
