    Dave, this video instantly improved my putting consistency. When you mentioned how McBeth pulls back and then waits a second or so before putting I said to myself, if one of the best putters in the world does that why wouldn't I try it? I've always drawn back and immediately fired. By drawing back and then waiting I think it has allowed me to make sure my aim is correct and it gave me an immediately noticeable improvement. Thanks man!

      It's so true, but really hard to implement because we're accustomed to moving our bodies when throwing. So when you force yourself to literally stop for a beat, your brain immediately asks, "BUT FOR HOW LONG!?" If you can maintain positive thoughts and focus in that moment, I agree 100% that it can produce results. But I'd be interested to watch people try, because I think it's way harder than it sounds!

    Dave does a good job of explaining the general motions of the putting types but a terrible job of describing McBeths style. Contrary to what he says Paul does not come "straight in". Paul drops his hand/arm quite a bit and putts from his left hip - a bit across his body. Paul did not "break the mold" because of his specific style. He practiced a lot and has incredible muscle memory, and more importantly, an amazing head game, the key to putting. The Push>Spin style is a spectrum. Paul for sure falls far on the spin side but not as much as Eagle, Simon, And more recently Tristan Tanner. Tanner may be the furthest to the spin side of the spectrum and is incredible. Fun to watch.

    • @kadefilimoehala6219
      @kadefilimoehala6219 Před 4 lety +1

      Yes, Paul does bring his disc across his body to his left leg/hip. Not into his body on a straight line.

    • @fourcubed47
      @fourcubed47 Před 4 lety +5

      When asked on the "ask Paul McBeth" thread on the disc golf review forum:
      "What motion or act would you liken your putting stroke to?"
      His answer: "Bowling, but just the opposite side of my right leg."

    I am doing both the push and spin in my putt both incorporated 50/50 with the foot pointed at the basket/target pole with the arm push of the push putt but not as low a dip as a true push and the curled wrist spin of the spin putt but not as tucked as a full spin putt. However I have to use my other non throwing hand as a open hand kind of track guide to keep the disc so it does not release at a 45-50 degree angle yeah or more at times when I am tired. I have yet to see a pro do the exact 50/50 between spin and push put then who can win consistently on tour, though Paul does use more the spin putt more but it is a still a variation putt leaning more spin. I do use the Ricky back leg push off the ground a small one from 10-12 feet out to 18-20 feet then adding more and more until 35-40 feet max putt with my main putter. at that point of 35-40 feet I am putting starting over with the back leg push off the ground with my Shark in either Star or old Pro both ~175 grams from 35-40 feet all the way back to 50-55 feet sometimes 60 feet and then from 50-55 feet on back I am doing more an approach shot.
