OMG, I was so close to unsubscribing! Almost had a heart attack! I was originally looking at the Vulcan 650 but since I'm 6'4" I settled for the 2012 NC. SOOOO glad that I did. Bike has never let me down, traveled all across the United States. I'll never let her go! Best of luck to the little lady with the new baby. Congrats!!!
Happy wife happy life! I hope she will enjoy her new bike and looking forward to see your upgrade when you will consider that the NC750X has to go. I have been watching your channel even though i have a Triumph Tiger and I don't do a lot of wrenching myself. I just like your style. So for me it doesn't matter what bikes do you have, i enjoy watching your trips, garage work and overall storytelling. Thank you!
As another Honda NC owner I have to admit to liking the look of the Honda Rebel too. The Kawasaki reminded me of it. Love your NC videos, they've been extremely helpful.
Yes. Considered the Rebel. But with its fat front tyre giving it poor handling, and being no more powerful than the 500x, the scales tipped to the Kwaka.
Bloody hell 'Clive James' you had me there, I really thought you'd changed bikes and I was saying to myself "oh no what can I watch now he's sold his NC" ha ha good one though and the Kawasaki really suits your wife. I look forward to seeing you both on the road twisting and turning in that beautiful country you have. Ride safe as always.
Congratulations to you both on the the beautiful new Kwaka. Superb colour, and a great looking bike for Wendy to enjoy clocking up the K’s. I’ll be keeping an eye open next time at Dalmore’s place. I’m going to rewind and show my pillion. 🏍🇦🇺😃
Ha! I’ve been given permission to buy a new bike but I just can’t come to terms with parting with the NC. And we don’t have parking room to keep more than 2 bikes 😢
Excellent! Best enduro-dual sports bike ever. The super--gloss rear fender and the lack of footrests will offer any pillion a thrilling, a true life changing adventure. "Hold on girl, we're doing 80 and about to hit a speedbump" Yeehaw! I must admit, it is a rather tall bike. Perhaps wearing high-heels could remedy this?
Congratulations to Wendy, seems to be the perfect bike for her. I follow your channel for several years since I was riding a NC750 DCT but last year I fell in love with a Bonneville T120 and her low heartbeat make me crazy at every ride. Always happy about news from you and hope to visit Australia somewhen in future. Best regards from Simon from Bavaria, Germany.
Thanks mate. Yes Wendy I’d enjoying her new bike. She has done 1,000km on it so far. We are just about to go for our weekly ride to Jerry’s cafe. It’s the end of winter here and at 7am it’s 3c 🥶 but will warm up to a perfect 24c soon.
Good choice. I ride a Vulcan S, and it really is good value for money. It has some faults, but it’s fun and easy to handle, and it performs quite well. It has enough sportiness to satisfy, but it’s good for leisurely riding, as well. The seat isn’t comfortable after about an hour, but I solved that with a Corbin seat and a back rest. Some Grip Puppies on the bars will lessen the buzzing to your hands. The throttle is a bit jerky, but you get used to it. Looking forward to seeing more videos about it. I hope Wendy gets on well with it. Cheers!
Yes. The throttle was the first thing Wendy noticed. We have a set of puppies (for the hand grips - don’t be rude!) but Wendy hasn’t made up her mind about fitting them yet. She had them on the 500x.
Hiya mate, well you had me hook line, and sinker, I couldn't believe that you'd go from an NC to one of those I was dumb struck. Talk about Chalk and Cheese !! Then Wendy appeared PHEW !! it looks perfect for her Im sure she will love it. It looks like she does already.
Thanks. I think it will take a few rides for Wendy to get used to the “feet forward” thing. But she already feels more confident on it (but had done over 70,000km on the 500x) when parking and manoeuvring around.
Did not get You going NC down to Kawa one bit and so was mightily relieved I was correct!!! Enjoy good folks! Just having got my first 'cruiser', a 2020 Honda VT125, am already thinking bigger and the Kawa has been on the radar for a few years now!!!
Initial thought was " NOOooooooo (inhales deeply) OOOooooo ! 😭 (although I am thinking about changing my NC for an Enfield 350.....) I hope Wendy has great fun on her new bike, it looks like it was custom designed to fit her perfectly 😀👍
Anyone who has watched ALL of your videos (several of them many times), knows you would not part with your NC…..yet! I suspected from the reveal it was a friend’s or your wife’s new bike! Good choice for her too. I’ve had the 500X and it does ride taller and lack a little power for highways. Hence my upgrade to the NC. My buddy has a bigger Vulcan, and it is a nice bike, so sure the love of your life will be happy with it (and you!) Congrats!
wow i love that bike!................ I wanted one of those ever since I bought my honda rebel 500, in fact the guy I bought my rebel from , was selling it so that he could buy a vulkan.
Looks the perfect fit for Wendy & I hope she enjoys the Kwak, the New bike better be good as the CB500X is a tough act to follow. Once again Adrian you got me worried for a little while my Friend as I’m thinking it’s adios NC 750X & who’s now going to produce the Best home maintenance videos for our amazing Honda motorcycle. Kinds Regards to all in Aus.
Ha! I’m blushing! But thanks. Wendy has done over 70,000km on her 500x and it is an excellent bike. Sadly we are getting older and the reach to the ground (even when lowered) was getting a bit much for Wendy and she was loosing a bit of confidence when parking etc. There are very few options for short (5’4”) people with not the strongest legs who don’t want a 250cc. The Kwaka was one of very few options.
did they ever fix the super spongy/bending gear shift foot level and foot break pedals? when it first came out that was a major issue which kept me from buying one and instead i went for a VN900c
@@AfricaTwin-Stuff try pushing semi hard with your foot and feel for flex, the first gen model used thin cheep metal and didn't give a solid or nice feedback when changing gears
I guess Wendy will be lead rider from now on lol. I rather like the new version of the CB500XA. Anyway, I'm glad she is happy with the Kawasaki. The main thing is you continue to ride.
@@AfricaTwin-Stuff I just brought the new 2023 CB500X and it is such an awesome bike. I really appreciate your reviews on it, It has such a good write-up as well. Yes it's taller but still manageable and you get to see over the traffic so much better than at less seat height.
Congratulations! I'm sure she will love it! I started on a Rebel 500 and HATED that bike! It got worse fuel economy than my NC750X and killed my bum even after a $500 saddle upgrade! How would you rate the power feel of the 180° 650 to the 270° pulsing output from the NC750X engine? My friend has a Honda CTX700 that I swear it's the easiest bike I've ever been on, I'm guessing the Kawasaki is very similar. I love my NC750X, but must admit the Kawasaki Z650RS has caught my eye several times! As always, another great video!
The Vulcan develops 60hp (6 more than my NC) but at higher revs. It feels more like a sport bike than the NC but has the same torque. But again at higher rpm than the NC. It’s averaging close to 4 ltrs/100km so isn’t as fuel efficient as the NC. Having said that, I’m impressed with the Vulcan motor. It feels like the torque is wider spread in the rev range so you don’t need to be constantly changing down gears to accelerate.
CB500X because several years ago you said your wife's bike was better than your beloved NC750X and that comment caused me to buy a CB500X. I'm very pleased with my decision.
