  • Here is the offending starter solenoid.
    When starting, +12 was not going to the "R" terminal, thus +12 was not being fed back into the coil, and the coil voltage was too low when the engine was cranking.
    I show how to test when the starting solenoid is removed from the boat.
    To test, simply remove the plunger and spring.
    Manually push up into the cavity and see if the "R" or "I" terminal is closed when the two big terminals are closed.

    question for you about one of your older videos, did you solve the knock in your motor?

      I have not, crazy engine runs fine, I have torn down the engine, swapped lower units changed engine mounts, the mystery persists.
