I wonder if Toussaint was channeling Fats Domino when he wrote this? The versions by The Yardbirds and Warren Zevon certainly lack that New Orleans flair, while Ernie K. Doe's certainly is very New Orleans style. As he performs his own composition, Toussaint's New Orleans rhythm and blues/rock and roll style is obvious, and reminds me of Fats Domino.
Allen Toussaint, Richard Thompson, Levon Helm, Nick Lowe, Elvis Costello.... Whew! And of course an all-time great Toussaint song.
Love, love Allen. A great, great loss.
Nick Lowe on bass. I was at the taping for this. It was incredible.
How the hell does this not have a billion views?
A genuine all star band!!!
What a band.
In my Yardbirds with their demo & Allen's original production for Ernie K-Doe. Thanks for the upload!
I have the 'birdies cover of Certain Girl, then Allen's then K-Doe's fun to listen to all three in a row.
Larry Campbell on rhythm guitar and Levon on drums!
And Elvis Costello on guitar...in the hat
IS there more of This gig please...?
That's Nick Lowe on bass, too.
¡Joder qué banda!
soulful smooth and easy
Is that Levon on drums?

YA' U RITE ! BURN K-DOE BURN !!! REST IN PEACE K-DOE .

This is so cool,, not kick ass like Warren Zevon's cover, but still great. Fantastic guitar solo from Richard.
And Steve Nieve on organ.
I was wondering if that was him. But he kept way too still!! :)
and elvis costello i guess.
Pedestrian
Rubbish guitar solo. Sounds so out of place.
He was channeling the Warren Zevon cover....yeah, kinda out of place.
