    Great stuff, as always! But, allow me a quick remark: in every vertical zoom option demonstration, you kept the mouse cursor over the track to be zoomed, and it may seem to some that's all the same "zoom under mouse cursor" option.

      You're right. I was trying to make sure the viewer's eyes were looking at the track that was going to be centered. Hopefully that won't be confusing.

    Hi Kenny,
    Your video is instructive, sharp and clear explanation.
    There is nothing better than this on the net.
    I wanted to ask:
    When, in your opinion, will there be a solution for a chord channel like there is in Cubase?
    Because from what I see, the solutions that are currently offered are not as effective as in Cubase.
    I would appreciate it if you could update us...
    And thanks again for everything

      Same here. But I'm afraid I'm going to rearrange preferences for reaper the first 5 years, and then I'll be as comfortable as I was the first time I opened studio one. My zoom preferences don't work if I open midi editor window for example, I'm sure there must be some " override local preferences to work globally for All windows the way you set them up in "main" section" but I haven't found it yet.

    • @oinkooink
      @oinkooink Před 18 dny

      @@almur88 Yeah there's some very simple, easy zoom stuff in the track view....the horizontal view in S1, whatever that view is called. Very simple mouse wheel stuff. Haven't mirrored that in Reaper yet.

    Hey, Kenny, do you know of any way to completely disable Ctrl + Mousewheel as vertical zoom? I removed it from the action shortcut, but it still works. Your video gave me the idea to set the Maximum vertical zoom (in Zoom/Scroll?Offset prefs) to 0% and now it has effectively disabled vertical zooming in of the track height, but I can still use Ctrl + Mousewheel to shrink the track height. The reason I want to disable it completely is because I like to set different tracks to certain heights (I only do midi so I don't need to zoom in to see waveforms), and I often trigger Ctrl + Mousewheel accidentally and mess up my track heights and I hate that. Haven't found a solution anywhere, so I thought of a Hail Mary on your video :) thanks.

    • @REAPERMania
      @REAPERMania  Před 22 dny

      I don't see any reason why you can't. Open the actions window and hit "Find shortcut" and move Ctrl + Mousewheel and it should show up. Just remove the keyboard shortcut.

    • @vlad_crisu
      @vlad_crisu Před 22 dny

      @@REAPERMania I don't know why it doesn't work, but I have already tried it and it doesn't, on 2 different computers. Just try it yourself, find the shortcut, remove it and see if you can still zoom tracks vertically with Ctrl + Mousewheel on Windows (Cmd + Mousewheel on OS X). Tried it on both Windows 11 and OS X Sonoma 14.5. Would appreciate it if you tried it and replied, that way I'll know if it's universal or just somehow an issue on my end. Thanks!

      @@vlad_crisu Just tried it and it goes away for me. Are you sure you're not using the alternate sections in the actions window? You should be able to hit ESC in any alternate section and it should bring you back to the main section.

      @vlad_crisu Před 22 dny

      @@REAPERMania Thanks for checking. Yeah, I removed the Ctrl + Mousewheel shortcut from all sections, including the main one, and it still zooms the track height vertically. Really weird. I'll try a fresh Reaper install as a last resort, since both my current Windows and Mac versions are portable installs that I've been using for a few years now. Thanks a lot!

    Greetings! Please tell me, I came to REAPER from Cubase, where I could hold the mouse wheel and drag the project window to any place, and I could also make the entire project full-width by pressing Ctrl + F. How to set up drag-and-drop and full-width project in Reaper screen width? Thank you in advance.

    •  Před 23 dny +3

      By default, you can hand scroll by holding Shift key + mousewheel middle drag.
      You can change this settings in Preferences > Editing behavior > Mouse modifiers > Context: Arrange view ; middle drag (the Default action without modifier is Jog audio).
      To zoom out to entre project width, you can assign the View: Zoom out project action (ID 40295) to the Cubase shortcut you're used to or any shortcut you want.

      Thank you very much, I found all the settings, but I can't assign horizontal dragging with the mouse wheel pressed, without the Shift button. When adding a new layout, for some reason, in the hotkey assignment field, holding the wheel is not supported. Maybe there is a way?

    Nice to know, but do you always put the mouse where is gonna zoom when the option isnt under cursor? And you put the mouse in the center when showing under cursor.
    Kinda looks the same under cursor as center. This is like someone showing you the EQ parameters to someone with no audio experience, but barely moving the knobs, and saying "it sounds completely different" but to the inexperienced person it sounds the same.
    Put more contrast in the examples like select a track then move mouse to the corner of the screen or something.

    Hi Kenny, is there a possibility to have Screensets saved (e.g. going back to the overview) on a global basis? Or has this to be included in a project template? Thanks in advance

    • @REAPERMania
      @REAPERMania  Před 23 dny +1

      There are two types of screensets. Windows and Track Views. Windows screensets are global but the Track Views are project based as they wouldn't make sense globally as every project is different.

      SWS: Save current track selection
      Track: Select all tracks
      SWS: Vertical zoom to selected track(s), minimize others
      SWS: Restore saved track selection
