Really good video! How’s the system going for you in terms of reliability? It’s been a couple months since you’ve uploaded, so I’m wondering if you’ve encountered any problems with it (e.g. disconnects, slow speeds, low range, etc.) Looks like some people say the velop gets really bad very fast.
Yes it does, I have fiber, which is a very strong internet cable from where I am from and very expensive and it should give you 100-200+ mbps download speed and 0 ping on a ps4 with or without Ethernet but with the velop node I barely get 4 mbps, disconnects every 10 minutes and if it doesn’t my ping would go from 0-200+ every second I do not recommend it. On Amazon there is something like it for only 20 dollars you just connect it to the wall and pair it Im not sure if it’s good but we used an old one similar to it and it worked fine for us but we gave it to a family member so now we are stuck with the velop node and if the 20 dollars one isn’t up to your liking when you buy it at least it’s pretty cheap. Edit: We use the 3 velop node system so I am not sure if it’s the same as this one but personally it’s not worth the money there are plugs that do the exact same thing and are way cheaper so I recommend getting those ones first
I don't think you *have* to, they can both function as a router, but its recommended to put it in bridge mode or turn off Wi-Fi capabilities on the ISP modem/router combo.
Linksys is one of the companies that with MX5 Velop AX Whole Home WiFi 6 (SKU MX5300) only serves 80MHz - Cisco Meraki MR56 is another. A number of manufacturers do not follow the WiFi 6 certification but are still marked as a WiFi 6 product. The problem here is that they do not follow the Wi-Fi Alliance standard 160Hz from the ax standard (up to 1733 Mbps - 4804Mbps on the shorter 5GHz channel), but instead 80MHz which theoretically stops at 450Mbps. What you have to do before you choose one, if you want to really upgrade the speed at home, is to check in the manual that 160Hz is max. Do not buy anything lower, because then the performance is also worse and you do not really have a real WiFi 6 router.
Do you know how to access to the External Storage (External Hard Disk) plugged in the USB port of the AX4200 via local network, mobile phone and remote access?
Stumbled upon your video while looking for router/Wifi6 - not sure what to get but this was a great review, very thorough. Is this system HomeKit compatible?

Can you do a comparison of this AX5300 to their newest offering Atlas Max 6E. I bought the AX5300 in March and then the next month I received an offer to Pre-Order their latest router the Atlas Max 6E. My question is, in my small apartment using all the latest Apple devices (10) Will I see any (noticeable) differences between the AX5300 and Atlas Max 6E? (Have looked and found no comparisons on CZcams.) After looking at descriptions of Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 6E, my guess is no, for my situation. It appears Wi-Fi 6E offers improvements (which is great) in areas that don't fit my needs. My analogy is that Wi-Fi 6 is a Hummer with a bigger engine, and my needs are still to pick up milk.
Your analogy is pretty spot on, bigger engine and you can go further on a single tank. Wi-Fi 6 is probably still overkill with your setup and most people, it's really great if you want gigabit speeds over the air. I'm still using a Wi-Fi 5 router ( eero Pro 5 ) and it handles about 30 devices daily with no problems. If you have a lot of devices which are modern with high internet speeds. I would focus more on making sure you have a router that has Tri-Band (2 5GHz bands), regardless if its Wi-Fi 5 or 6. Personally for me and my use case, I only look at Tri-Band, but most people can get away with a Wi-Fi 6 dual band router.
This replaced our similar Deco mesh setup (for the duration of the review), but I've never personally used the X68. However, as an existing Deco owner, the only thing Deco has going for it is the value & price. But the thing that I hate the most is the user interface and it's app. This is where Linksys excels and other mesh systems because they invest in their app. If you in an area where there is Costco and you have a membership, you can get 2 for $229, which is cheaper than the Deco X86, and I can guarantee you won't be disappointed.
@@DayoAworunse thanks for your answer. Unfortunately I don't have a Costco membership. So for me basically both costs the same in Amazon. In terms of parental controls and reliability and range, do you still think Asus is above TP? I have to make my decision today and want to have the more future proof unit.
@@tico2209 Asus or Linksys just to clarify we are on the same page. I've never used an ASUS router before, but from usage of TP-Link, parental control is a breeze and similar to the eero system as well.
@@DayoAworunse sorry, my bad, I mean linksys. I've been checking a lot of mesh systems these days so I confused brand's names. But right now I'm between only the velop x4200 or maybe x5300 and the deco x68

I believe atlas is there more powerful router, however for most consumer/home cases the Velop is good for majority. You can upgrade from either and continue to add nodes. Atlas will give you the fastest speeds wirelessly

Can we use it as a wifi extender without any cable ??
Do I have to put my ISP modem/router in bridge mode to use this Linksys as my router? Nobody ever mentions this in reviews but I read it elsewhere.
