User Reviews:
"This famous western deals about the most noted gunslinger of the southwest ,William Bonney, a juvenile tough, a teenager wanted dead or alive throughout the west. This is a fiction story of the strange teen-age desperado known to legend as Billy the Kid.Billy was said to be sympathetic, attractive and favourite with girls, particulars represented by the protagonist(Jack Buetel). He'll confront against Sheriff Pat Garret(Thomas Mitchell) and Doc Holliday(Walter Huston) and is enamored by a wonderful girl(Jane Russell). The film isn't based on real events,it's invented story by the screenwriter Jules Furthman with ironic dialogs and a plot with little sense. Thus isn't appeared Tunstall,Chisum ,nor others personages ,neither deeds (Lincoln county war or getaway from gaol)of the Billy Kid life. It's only notorious character Pat Garret who has an important role and Doc Holliday who didn't have none real relation with him.The picture is produced by RKO(Radio Pictures Inc) and Howard Hughes.Howard Hawks began the filming in 1941 and he shot scenes with the cameraman Lucien Ballard but had complications with Hughes and he took the direction contracting to excellent photographer Gregg Toland(Citizen Kane). However the censorship made him modify numerous takes shots. Finally at last, after a three years delay ,public saw a daring production exactly as it was filmed not a scene cut.The picture would obtain myth as erotic Western. Thus is by Jane Russell, she appears moody, mean, magnificent and terrific, too startling to describe,Russell was an authentic sensation for the epoch, she keeps her best attributes in the bosom.Today all the fuss seem totally wrongly. The film has sensations, thrills, pursuits riders, primitive love, action but is a bit bored." Written by ma-cortes on IMDb.
"The Outlaw tells the story of Billy the kid's supposed friendship (and arguments) with Doc Holliday, his battles with weaselly Pat Garrett, and his romantic entanglement with a big-chested girl who nurses him back to health after being gut-shot by the dastardly sheriff.
A once scandalous adult western, this is decidedly less scandalous by today's standards. It's notoriety simultaneously launched Jane Russell's career as a sex symbol and hurt her career as an actress.
The overblown hype surrounding Jane's breasts, the film's reputation for being a vanity project for billionaire Howard Hughes, and the high expectations attached to anything directed by Howard Hawks weighs heavily on ones enjoyment of The Outlaw, but this is essentially just a long 1940's style B-western.When viewed through that prism it's fairly decent, if unspectacular entertainment with good performances by the stars. However, I would venture to say that it would have been better if it weren't two hours long." Written by FightingWesterner on IMDb.

For me any episode involving Billy the Kid, Pat Garret and Doc Holiday is a good watch
Movie has a lot of twist and turns. Romance, excitement. Lovely enjoyed it. Thank you. 😊
They sure knew how to make great movies back in the days!
I am literally spellbound watching the twists of the facts, one of the great western movie
This is a fantastic classic movie. A Howard Hughes production with some of the finest actors. Howard was an amazing man that did amazing accomplishments, and this movie added to that list
Oh my, the naivete of people who think Howard Hughes was great. The American dream for HH was a nightmare behind the scenes.
im 19 and been watching them since i was 10 and fell in love with westerns ever since ❤️
This movie was very helpful for me in the child I didn't know english
Ez egy igaz kis jó film volt. Köszönöm szépen.
I love this and wish it really happened like this. Good on Howard Hughes for making this movie some of the old movie’s are still good to this day 2023 January 21❤

It's like .....Shakespeare ! Excellent in every way. The plot , the acting , the girl-woman Jane Russel what a candy !!! Marvelous Movie. MM.

Oh? Jane Russell? Thought she looked familiar... :P
Best Doc Holliday ever.
This classic film is remarkable for the genius of Howard Hugh's. I have watched nearly all, but the spaghetti westerns are B films terrible to say the least. I am 67 and sat in front of a test screen until the movie began. I am still a huge fan of the classic films and this one has a twist of great camera work. The finest I have ever watched. Thanks Grjngo!
A real classic
This was a good movie. I watched partially because Howard Hawks was the director, and partly because Howard Hughes was the producer, but mostly because I wanted to see a young Jane Russell. Even if this was historically inaccurate, I liked it. Thanks Gringo for uploading it.

wow! the color is fantastic!
Good Movie ❤❤❤❤
I did not think I was going to like this movie but after about 15 to 20 minutes, I was hooked! The ending was not easy to guess on this movie, despite how silly different scenes seem to be written, and I liked that. They were really some very good portions of the movie that I thought were outstanding but all in all, this movie, it was very enjoyable, even if it was funny in places.!
yeah, that's a life, full of tricks and surprises, mostly bad😁.
Excellent movie

Good movie 💯
The best Doc.Holliday ever was Val Kilmer in Tombstone.
Iconic cast, producer, and director, and very different from most cowboy films of that era. Interesting, but at times a bit slow and the plot is kinda goofy. Still, it remains a western classic.
Superb Western!
Very imaginative plot on how Billy actually died.
Loved it,Wonderful film ,Thank you.

This movie is hilarious. Pure genius. My copy is black and white and getting really fuzzy. I very much appreciate that I found The Outlaw on here. (This is the main reason I'm having a hard time leaving CZcams. So much good content that's really hard to find anywhere else.)
What a great western, and great performance by a superb cast! Thanks Grjngo for the upload 👍👍👍🤠🤠🤠

Great movie , but didn't care for the end, Doc should have lived .
How to make a great ending - In the final scene, a car can be seen in the distance passing from left to right. Happy now?
Funny comedy, nothing else.
Such a fake history. Doc Holiday and Billy never met and Pat Garrett never met Doc Holliday.
Roll, roll, roll in ze hay.
Let’s go brandon 🍦🍦🍦
This Movie is A Classic....Jack Beutel is very underrated as an Actor and Makes Billy The Kid believable, especially up against Doc Holliday, who is well-played by Walter Huston....Jane Russell is My Fav Female Actress in her Debut here and she was Very Sexy Indeed, in the Role of Rio😍👍
Feels more like a tv movie
Say a few words.... "So long Doc". LOL
Another great movie. Added to my movie play list 👍👍👍
Pat garret a favorite

Great watch
Great Movie !
How to make a great movie - Howard Hughes way (he really was the real director) - In the final scene, a car can be seen in the distance passing from left to right.
@@higgsmerino3925Merino Those days negative is very expense so it wasn't be practical to remake it. Nowadays it might be easy. Using software to erase off the car, it was the restriction that created good director.
Good movie
Very good! Jane was irrelevant. Some excellent dialogue.
A great film very entertaining as someone said Doc Holliday should never Have died

Ĺoved it
Not big stars but wonderful western
Walter Huston? One of the biggest actors of his day. Ben Johnson is in this also.
Learn some film history.

Fun watch
I’m surprised as old as I am that I haven’t seen this movie yet I remember parts of it I think as it goes along I can remember a little bit but it’s been should I think it’s been 140 years since I’ve seen this movie I know the time and date you put on it but it’s made earlier than that
I love the theme music, I have a girlfriend like Rio.
Well done !! I,m also colorizing old videos , btw why did you not upscale it to wide screen? Keep up the cool work , if I can help colorizing just call !
HH had a heart after all
I have seen Doc Holliday killed in just about every western where his name came up. One was when he was with Wyatt Earp in Tombstone
Still waiting for the Indians to get Billy in the end., lol
Is it possible to love and hate a movie at the same time?
surely doc never should have died
A Very strange and peculiar western.
At least it was filmed in the West! - In the final scene, a car can be seen in the distance passing from left to right.
👍👍👍
"AVA MARIA MORALES" by Marty Robbins on CZcams video depicts an alternate but beautiful romantic story.
I doubt Billie the Kid knew Doc Holiday .
Good movie if you can overlook the extreme liberties it takes with historical accuracy.
Jane Russell's first movie, homina, homina, homina
Kind of a weird western, but it was ok.
Kinda sappy, but entertaining nonetheless.
If they claim to be a santuary they should welcome them with open arms. How cruel

It's a comedy.
...but they didn't want it to be. Colorized junk.
In the final scene, a car can be seen in the distance passing from left to right. Oh, brother.
No shit
...like a life, but you guys still take it seriously 😁
Walter Huston looks a lot like Harrison ford in sone scenes
That ain't the Jane Russell I've been seeing , either she had a breast reduction or she's 18 yrs. in this one maybe even younger😲😕😔
...Yhuu
A little too fictional for me, Doc Holliday did not die before Billy the Kid.
So, in this true story era 1850's it proclaims that Jesse James was an outlaw. In fact, he was a Christian man who repeatably said "Love thy Neighbor." By bringing together the townspeople; mostly mixed with other nationalities a procurement would be installed in them to lessen fear, give respect, and work together in unity. I know my grandfather was friends with Jesse James. The tables turned when he got shot, and the verse took precedence: Proverbs 13:1 Site Map - Supreme Court of the United States Chief Justice's Year-End Reports on the Federal Judiciary Detect the Differences: Lions in the Great Oaths Taken by the Chief Justices Oaths Taken by the Current Court Orders by Circuit - Term Year 2011
A good film. In hindsight the original criticism is not warranted. Maybe the original objections had to do with this being an “anti-western” - against traditional “old west” values (see Hopalong Cassidy, The Cisco Kid, The Lone Ranger; any movies by the “Singing Cowboy” Gene Autry or Roy Rogers/Dale Evens).
Jacj beutel vs cristiano ronaldo
Hello dear, billy the kid that my star 💫🌟 what's the time five o'clock ten o'clock
Good movie and fun to watch but using Garret as the sherif kinda out of date range isn’t it? Wyatt Earp/Doc Holiday and Garret/Billy the kid days were far apart. No history records of Garret and Doc Holiday friendship that I ever seen. A little overboard on the friendship idea between Garret and Doc as well. Well, it’s fiction and just a movie, fun to watch for sure. Don’t know what all the desire for Jane Russel is either. Showing cleavage is all she has going for her in my opinion but not very pretty. Hollywood back then was guessing when producing westerns.
It was really silly to me lol
I dunno, but, does anybody feels that this is a pre-BrokebackMountain movie? There are some insinuations about the "friendly" relationship between Doc and Pat, and the jealous of him about Doc going over the Kid. Instead of fighting about which will retain Rio, they fight about a horse and who will be the ¿best friend? of the other... uhmm

Oh no.... Injins !!!

!st.: I get so tired of all the shills who gush and gush about how good these crappy movies are. Just sayin' something's good doesn't make it so. That said...
A really odd mixture of drama and comedy. I doubt that think it was ever intended to be a dramedy, but it was. Still, I watched it all the way through.
....and what is a real life? Drama?tragedy?comedy? or crime?
everything mixed 😁🤣😂🤕🧐😤🥱😴.
It’s ok
