All the players came from far and wide
Wearing afros and braids, kicking them gangsta rides
Now I'm here to tell you there's a better day
When the player's ball is happening, all day ery'day

This shit damn near 30 years old and still the best Christmas song around
& its still better than this trash nowadays
Destinys child christmas song is very good, TLC christmas song is cool too, but I guess you'd consider them corny lol
@@bluecrystalpalace TLC is not corny.. TLC is part of hip hop history.

Hell yeah!^^
The song that changed my music experience for life mane
Same. I was 14, white boy in the country. My brother got into this, brought it home from Atlanta. It changed everything my ears heard from that point on, kinda like a comparison/point of perspective.
RIP Rico Wade. A true ATL legend that put da city on da map.
Greatest CHRISTMAS song of ALL-time !!!
OutKast was the hardest group to ever come out the ATL
Wrong! The whole south
Nah, from the whole Earth
Still izz
I mean you can't forget about Migos though, not saying they're better but they're up there, of course Outkast is more popular and iconic, but you can't go against what Migos has done
"We da coolest mothafawckas on the planet" - outkast
Big Boi's flow is so iconic
He’s that dude
Outkast are hip-hop legends 🫅🤴.

Andre Ben and Big Boi were 17 years old when they did this...chew on that for a second...

Facts
I had the pleasure of meeting Andre 3000. I was doing stock work at Brooks Brothers in Midtown, Manhattan at the time, and he was promoting his movie 'Four Brothers'. We chatted for like 3 minutes about how to make it in the Music industry. He's easily the most chill and humble celebrity I've come across. Just an all around dope dude.
Interested in knowing what he said about how to make it in the music industry
@@moonknight352 haha true story.
If that was the conversation, I'm assuming someone brought it up, I mean you just don't start a conversation about music when you meet someone. So I'm assuming it was you, so did you make it in the music industry?
@@beatzwire7537He didn't say anything, and if he did this person obviously didn't take what he said and apply it to themselves. If they had, they would be known by now.🤦🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️
@beatzwire7537 he said that performing was very important: basically when you're an up and coming artist, it's important to get your name out there. We mainly talked about his old school stuff (I mentioned 'Southerplayaisticadillacmuzik' being one of my favorite HH albums).
Rest well, RICO🙏🏽.
Sending love to the Dungeon family🕊. ATL titans. One love☝🏽.
I was 16 when this came out and I'd like to have a dollar every time I ever bumped this over the years and still bumpin it in 2022 at 44 years old. A masterpiece.
Classic.
I was 15 born an raised on the west coast , grew up in Long beach California, yes this a true classic , we played this like we played Doggystyle 💯😏✊
Born in 95 dad put me on i love it till this day
I’m 1 year removed from your numbers (age 43) and exactly the same. I’m from UK and first heard this on Yo MTV raps and that was like my window to hip hop and Atlanta.
Classic.

The GREATEST GROUP in the entire history of Hip Hop! (The South Got Somethin to Say!!!)
R.I.P. Rico Wade
You really have to respect Big Boi for sticking with his homie through his weird evolution of style and fashion. A lot of so called street niggas would not have done that.
true
Real talk
Whose to say that Andre didn't find Big Boi "weird" when he went through his so called pimp days and stuck with him? I get where you're coming from but that's what made them so unique.
nmorgan24 So true man! I dont think big boi gets enough props, not just for sticking with Andre but for his rapping skill. I think its really overlooked
nmorgan24 Comments like this is why "Return of the G" was written
For real, Big Boi's flow on this song is his best. Not speaking ill of Dre, both dudes killed it.
this song was tight as hell
I agree
Checkin in on my favorite xmas song. Its that time a year again 12/22/23.
Back when ATL was real😢😢😢😢
This is the best non traditional Christmas song think I've heard. It's lost on many people even with the jingle bells in the background and the multiple holiday references.
CJ Love i mean but they literally say "when the players ball i happening on Christmas day"
This mix for the music video says "on Christmas day", but there's another mix with a few additional production effects over the verses (I can't remember which were released in which formats - radio edits, vinyl, CD, cassette, who knows which versions were used for different digital platforms when those came along) that changes it to "all day e'ry day". All the other references are still there, of course.
@@JohannVII Yeah, an annotation of the lyrics for Player's Ball on Genius says the lyric was modified so the song would have appeal past the holiday season as it was rising quickly in the charts.
The song was originally released on LaFace's Christmas Album. They asked Kast to do a Christmas song and they were like Christmas is just another day for us.
The sleigh bells on this track dope as hell!
RIP Rico Wade, this has been a terrible year for hip hop so far
The SOUTH got something to say! 404🆙
Make no mistake about it. Outkast is the beginning of mainstream Rap coming out of the south. As far as Atlanta. All of the ATL rappers should be paying Outkast at least 3%. It was all NYC and Cali rap forever.
No geto boys
30 years ago!!!!! Damn these dudes were teenagers when this dropped!!!!
All my life bumping this song. I didn’t know this was a Christmas song.
Sisas parcero en mera navidad jajaja
I remember when I learned that, I was like, for real? I had been bumping for several years but I learned it was a Xmas song back in 2000.
They were asked to drop a holiday track and this was the one.
you not atl fr cs you not listen to what dey sayn twin, you prob jus like the beat.

God bless the soul of Rico Wade. So far ahead our time, we still haven’t caught up.
God please bring me back to this era when I die. Let me live through the 90s all over again so I can appreciate it more in the moment instead of wanting to grow up so fast

Flyshit!!! The A all day!!! Still rockin in 2023!!
1994!? OutKast kills it man, way ahead of their time.
very true, they were ahead of there time.
this was actually 93! Debuted on LaFace Family Christmas. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Player%27s_Ball
This song was recorded in 1992 and got mass acclaim in 1993. Then they put it on Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik which released in 1994. Needless to say, Outkast were the shit and were definitely doing really interesting things way ahead of other rappers.
Organized Noise were ahead of their time....OutKast would be nowhere on the map if it wasn't of them. They taught them everything....after Southernplayalisticcadillacmuzik, they left to make their own album using what they learned from Organized Noise.....after that they went Diamond with Speakerboxx/The Love Below, won a shitload of Grammys.....not a single time they have thanked Organized Noise for rising them to the top.
Speakerboxx/the love below is the perfect reflection of what artist can do to get the most money as possible, they turn banana. Mainstream shit you know.
ATliens was the last good album they made, it was dope ! You hear it and you can easily think that it was produced by Organized Noise, but it was not. Dre and Big Boi simply learned everything from Organized noise and they never showed them respect for that afterward....i say fuck them !
Rien Nafoutre You're crazy! Outkast are mad grateful to Organized Noize and I'm sure they shout them out all the time, however they're not going to credit them on an album that they didn't produce for. And I'm sorry but ATLiens wasn't their last good album. Aquemini, Stankonia and Speakerboxx/Love Below were just as good. I admit Stankonia had a lot of filler so it's probably one of their not so good albums however the other two really showed Andre 3000 and Big Boi at their musical and most expressive best
90's were amazing. I miss when they used to play all real shit on the tv and radio.

It was on the B-side tape version when it came out
I was 14 years old when this song came out. I used to run home from school to catch this, and Nas It aint hard to tell videos on rap city. My sister thought I was crazy because I used to blast this song so much. 1994/95 will forever be my favorite years because some of the most dope music came out around that time. Southernplaylistic came out around the same time Midnight Marauders, 36 Chambers, and 93 til infinity came out. It was a great year for hip-hop.

Its not whack at all , do you guys ever listen to hip hop?
@@gkay8889 Of course some of the newer rappers are original but many of today’s rappers are just some wanna be thug, emo trappers. They glorify a fake lifestyle they never lived and make millions by doing it. Unlike them the OGs had to grind and rapped about the life they lived and the surroundings they grew up in. Many of today’s rappers try to duplicate these oldschool sounds/flows especially Memphis horrorcore from the 90s but they end up portraying themselves as depressed, wannabes. Half of the music that’s considered trap nowadays has nothing to do with trapping. The OGs paved the way for many of today’s rap/hiphop sub genres, the south was mocked back then but ended up having the biggest influence in today’s music. While the East and west coast had a war going on the south was ahead of the game.
