    I had my first night of continual sleep in years. I am still learning about my correct fit and woke up rested and my lungs felt good, not deprived from not breathing all night. However, I experienced a little bruising on my nose due to pressure from the face mask. I hope my second night will be better.

    one problem is to get that awful plastic smell out of the mask and the tubing when it's new. I try and run the machine without using it for a good 15-20 minutes when I first get the new machine to get rid of that awful burnt plastic smell ! 😕😣

    • @safiedbanafsh7762
      @safiedbanafsh7762 Před 4 lety +5

      Correction ! I had to run my new C-PAP machine for over 2 hours to get rid of ¨some ¨ of that burnt plastic smell . It is awful ! and unhealthy for you to breathe , but eventually it would get better. Not completely gone, but a lot better.

    I was told tap water can be used by my clinician. Distilled water makes the machine last longer, but wouldn't hurt me or the machine if I used tap water.

    • @fishsquishguy1833
      @fishsquishguy1833 Před 4 lety +1

      Just read to change monthly. Maybe if you’re using the hypo-allergenic, because of the smaller filtering size, it may need more frequent changing. I would think if your house is dusty and you have dogs or cats it would be more as well

    New CPAP user here. Can I replace masks/tube/filter/etc. from a different brand as long as it fits?

    • @Kitten202021
      @Kitten202021 Před rokem +2

      From what I understood from my CPAP supplier, it wasn't really recommended as the specific masks/tubing/filters/etc were specifically made for that specific device. But each supplier/medical professional might see this differently, I'd reach out to your medical supplier and/or doctor and see what they have to say about it.

  • @icecoldpinas6685

    can you buy without doctor's prescription?

    • @safiedbanafsh7762
      @safiedbanafsh7762 Před 4 lety +1

      No. Your doctor has to order a sleep study first, where you go and stay overnight in a sleep study lab. They hook you up to electrodes (while do you sleep ) so they can take measurements. Once your doctor gets a copy of the sleep study report, she / he will refers you to a medical supply store to get a CPAP machine. most insurances ( in the U.S ) cover the cost of a CPAP machine if your doctor says that you have a sleep apnea. I hope this information it's helpful to you . Good luck. 😊

    • @twoadventureus
      @twoadventureus Před 4 lety +1

      You do need a prescription from a physician to get a cpap from an equipment provider. The physician can give you a valid prescription even without testing; but most for good reason want to do at least some form of testing for a few reasons... safety, to verify apnea is present, determine ideal pressures, and/or to get the costs covered by your insurance, etc. Depending on what the physician thinks or what the insurance requires, a physician might be comfortable prescribing a cpap based on either a simple overnight home oximetry, home sleep study (baseline psg), or lab sleep study (baseline psg with or without titration).

    • @lindseydickey9282

      That is how it works most efficiently. If you don't, you can cause build up and the machine can break over time it not cleaned properly.
