Nick, i want to transmit my gratitude for your tutorials. As a man who self diagnosed his sleep apnoea and was given a Phillips dream star C-plus it changed my life and gave me a new lease of life and some really good sleep for the last 10 years. Let me share a story, one week ago my latest Phillips Dream star went into Service required mode so i packed it up and went to my local C.P.,A.P store where i was informed that my machine was had had a world wide recall and was not being made anymore. They informed me that the foam disintegrated and could possible lead to cancer. How surprised i was to hear this as i was happy and still using this machine and was not aware of the recall and was while my Phillips was off getting serviced was going to purchase another one so i always has a spare.
So long story short, i am now the proud owner of a Resmed 10 Auto. Found your channel and watched your tutorials on the ResMed 10. Your approach is gentle, informative and above all extremely helpful. With your help via CZcams, i have set the Resmed up to suit my sleep patterns and have had some of the best sleep of my life. God bless for sharing your knowledge as i certainly appreciate it.

@@CPAPReviews Hi Nick. Me again doing a piggyback. I have looked at Oximeters to buy a recordable one. All of them have a disclaimer saying that they are not a medical device and the device has a reading accuracy of + or minus 2%. They also stated that that the only real accurate oxygen saturation that can be trusted is one taken from arterial blood gas (ABG) test. It is an invasive and painful test. The possibility of sleeping through this test is IMPOSSIBLE.
This means that any oximeter can only give you a reading within 4% of the real oxygen saturation.
This is a hypothetical situation. I get an oxygen saturation level of 95% from my finger pulse oximeter. ( This is an acceptable level for a 70 year old.)
However this reading could be 97% or 93% based on the accuracy being + or - 2%. Some of these oximeters have a plus or minus accuracy of 4%, so that could be 91 0r 99%.
I have seen that anything under 95% is an abnormal reading. This leaves every person with a conundrum. Do you think positively and accept that the reading is 97% or negatively and think it is 93% and an abnormal reading.
One of your subscribers posted that he did not care what his ahis were as long as his O2 was above 90%. Your reply was "Spot on mate". However, 90% oxygen saturation is very close to needing supplemental oxygen. I would just say Nick, if you don"t know, don"t comment. Your comment should have been " I recommend you talk to your sleep tech or doctor and find out what reality is".
Love your stuff 99% of the time but you are at fault here. We are all human and make mistakes. Wish I could have made this comment offline because I do not want to stop your brilliant work.

I'm in the US, Texas to be exact, and have to thank you for this great video. It is the most informative I have seen. ResMed could take a lesson from you and include this info in their manual. And until they make MyAir more user-friendly so that we can update the card data to the app this is the only way to monitor results. Again, thanks from a Yank!

Gidday Nick, 73yo Aussie expat in SEAsia here, and I have been aware of my sleep apnea for years, but it was mild and I thought minor. But got a lot worse in the last year or so. I didn't bother with the preliminary doctor stuff, seemed the outcome would be the same, you have sleep apnea and need CPAP. therapy Found your channel, really appreciate your calm and thorough explanations and ordered my ResMed AirSense 10 Autoset and had my first night last night. A little conditioning to go through yet, but I was not woken up short of breath and no headache today. I am in it now for the long haul and with your help and encouragement, don't doubt it will be way worth it. AND, my wife sends her thanks because she got her first night without me loudly snoring for a long time. What you do is helping so many people so much, so just know that it is greatly appreciated!

Great info Nick, it’s been a huge help.
I’ve been struggling with mask leaks, dry nose and throat and painful bloating due to swallowing air, and waking up multiple times a night. I suspected my pressure was set too high, so using your info I gradually dialled back the upper pressure level, and keeping an eye on the AHI I found the best pressure has come down to 8. No more painful bloating, no more mask leaks, dry mouth etc and my AHI is 3 and I’m averaging 1.5 events per hour most nights instead of 8-9 or more.

I am just about to get a ResMed AirSense 10 as I purchased an inferior machine on Amazon and it seems to work back to front, What I mean by this is that in ramp mode it is on full blast, and after a few minutes reduces to the set pressures. I just wanted to say thank you so much for explaining so well the workings of the Resmed AirSense 10. I have had mine for maybe 3 months & it has been a bit of hit & miss. It is so great to actually now understand how it all works. All I need to do now is find your Video on how to clean the machine the way it should be done. I would like to say thank you once again. Keep up the good work & Videos. Kind regards, Lynnette.

Just wanted to add my thanks. Recently had a sleep study (1st June 22) after my son stated I was snoring loudly and sounding like I was gasping for breath. Finally got the report via the GP yesterday - (1st July 22) Severe OSA. Booked to see a technician on Tuesday to hopefully buy a CPAP myself. I came across your channel after researching the RESMED 10 after a recommendation from a mate who used to sell a competing product (so definitely no brand bias). You've been clear and logical and reinforced my decision. I'm a nurse who worked in ICU up until recently, (now ED) and we played with CPAP to get an understanding of how it feels for patients. I'm hoping it clears this fog of tiredness, which hopefully will mean more energy to exercise which will hopefully lead to weight loss.
The biggest issue I always saw was people (in ICU) jamming the masking on too tight, to get no leaks, which lead to pressure sores and the next worse thing was ramping the pressure up too fast. (Granted this was for pulmonary oedema treatment so not quite the same use - but the therapy is the same)
Thanks for this series. My only worry (being single) is how it will work dating, if and when that ever happens again.

Awe congratulations. We're somewhat in the same boat. I just got my machine today. I can't wait to hopefully get some good sleep tonight and no longer feel tired. I totally understand not having the energy to workout. Congrats again and best of luck on your journey to better health. Let me know how it's going for you.
