I am the honest vocal coach! I have been teaching for 15 years and been singing since I was 16. I teach from my own studio and also teach and mentor via email, and online via Live & Skype. I specialise in teaching children, and teenagers pop and musical theatre but I am trained in all genres of music. I have studied every voice technique there is, including Speech Level Singing, Estill, Bel Canto, Robert Lunte, London College of Music, ABRSM, Ria Keen, Kim Chandler, Stevie Van Lange and many more. I have been around!
In 2008 I wrote the Vocaltutor Guide, 21 set lessons for singing teachers to get started, learning to teach, and produced 3 vocal exercise CD/Downloads.

Marc Martel is the closest thing we will ever have to Freddie Mercury! He’s a legend in the making! I’m subscribed to both of you. I don’t think he’s trying to sound like him, he just does. His singing feels very theatrical to me, if they ever produced a Broadway show about Queen he would kill it on there!

I hear Queen is going to perform at the Oscars' and my feeling is..they should do so with Marc rather than Adam. Seeing as Marc is the one who did the vocals in the movie.

Yes, definitely. I had to speed up the original Queen version of the song down A LOT in order for it to match Marc's tempo when I was making the side-by-side video of this.

I feel like the arrogance is a perfect fit for this song - and the reason why this performance is so theatrical and magnetic. Marc Martel is obviously not an arrogant person, but I think you need to get into character to really do this song justice.

Great reaction Georgina. I know you meant it well, but I think arrogant is probably the wrong word. Everyone knows Marc is a really genuine and humble guy. Otherwise I always enjoy your reactions.

This is my favourite Queen "one-take" cover that Marc has done. Well, sometimes it's You Take My Breath Away... but I love his George Michael covers just as much, if not more. His original love songs are fantastic as well!
we definitely agree completely on this one. marc is just a wonderfully talented human being, all around, from covering queen, to his original music, as well as covers of seemingly every other artist on the face of this earth!
since you seemed to really enjoy marc, i would love to see yr reactions to anything else by him, but in particular, his covers of artists outside of queen...if i got to pick, i'd request the righteous brothers "unchained melody", dolly parton/whitney houston's i will always love you", or radiohead's karma police.

Technically brilliant, consummate showman, looks and sounds remarkably similar to Freddie? I don’t see how they haven’t gotten Marc involved with Queen by now. No hate on Adam, but Marc is just perfect for the job.
They have taken him for Bohemian Raphsody and i think some concerts too
Tim Hutchinson He is involved with queen and regularly speaks on a business sense with Roger and sometimes even Brian that’s why he worked on Bohemian Rhapsody the band knows he exists and utilized him when they see fit while also allowing him to play around with what he wants

BlackQueen29 Finally somebody that understands it! Even Adam said that he knows and respects that he will never replace Freddie because he can’t, nobody can! And I believe Marc also knows that but he’s just somebody that loves queen and Freddie and wanted to honor his legacy. Also Adam met Brian and Roger before even knowing or considering Marc.
I dont agree. It's not about how much you sound like just uniqueness and range with Adam. He was just picked at the right time and was lucky. That's the reason.

In my opinion, if we asked Queen fans if they’d rather Marc or Adam, they would choose Marc. If I go to a Queen concert, I don’t want to hear Adam’s version, I want Freddie’s version! Adam is an awesome singer and flamboyant, but I want to hear Freddie’s version .
I'm a Queen fan and I prefer Adam.

The whole debate about Marc or Adam is tiresome. We all have to agree that in Freddie we we have an exceptional : 1) songwriter, 2) composer, 3) singer-interprete, 4) pianist (even if he did not think so) and 5) showman. Any of these five abilities can make you earn big money for a living. Both Marc and Adam have a certain number of these, but not all of them. Marc is an exceptional singer, pianist, and a very talented songwriter. He does not have the same "flamboyance" as a showman, and it is good like this. Lambert has it. Vocally, Lambert is excellent. They are both excellent frontmen for the Queen repertoire. For stadium, I would pick Lambert; for 800-2000 seats : Marc Martel. I think Queen got it right when they hired Adam (way before Marc made himself known with his now famous 'Somebody to Love' audition, I might had). For the Queen Extravanganza, Marc was hired by Queen. And now, he makes a lot of 'denaros' with his own band : Ultimate Queen Celebration. He constantly tours the world. So, who wins ? Everybody. No doubt in my mind that, one day, May and Taylor will work again with Martel. Why? Because Martel is irreplaceable. Period.
Except Martel just sold 16K seats on the day of Q+AL performance in LA, without May, Taylor, or any of that lot. BTW his interpretations on Queen songs get lost on many because his musicianship can only be appreciated fully by musicians. Regular folks have no idea how hard it is to do what Marc does, which is re-arranging the originals into solo interpretations, rewriting harmonies, orchestrating it differently. It's truly special.
