This is pure heavy metal USPM. I was born in 1968. In the early 80,s become fan of Priest, Maiden, Saxon, Dio, Ozzy, ....then came the USPM, inheritors of the British Metal. I bought this EP in 1983. Later came the thrash metal and hair metal, i like both genres also, but i always preferred the british metal and USPM, classic heavy metal... and even today...the music, the attitude... forever be part of my ADN
Oh yeah. Every Queensryche song I've ever heard, I've been blown away by the DRAMATIC POWERFUL VOICE. It's made me realise that when a band can rock AND sing well, THOSE ones are my favourite. :D
I remember seeing this video on MTV Headbanger's ball back in the 1980s and I'm 53 and I still love listening to this group and jamming out to them all-the-time okay
Their debut 4 song EP was so popular in the SF Bay Area that they toured for it, opening for Dio. Queen Of The Reich was in heavy rotation on rock radio, and when their show with Dio was announced, it sold out so quickly that they added a second show for the afternoon. And that is the show I saw, at 4pm at the San Jose Civic Auditorium. Still love that EP, as it was probably the heaviest stuff Queensryche ever produced. Since that EP, they became more polished and experimental, leaning into prog metal. But that original EP, when they were nothing but hungry young musicians from Seattle with nothing to lose, is one of the greatest metal debuts ever released.
Geoff Tate, Rob Halford & Bruce Dickinson. They rules the voice of 80s. They are the kings. But they still bows to RJD. Dio will as always be the emperor.

Geoff is the best in any time! Spectacular voice and the best front man of metal of all time. I am very grateful to all that he did for Ryche these 30 years it was his voice. I, who am a huge fan since childhood, never accept La torre as the voice of Ryche. For me, unfortunately, the QR ended when Tate left. Without it and without DeGarmo, there is no chance for the band. Just to the new generations that only met them recently. I will love Geoff Tate for eternity. s2 Thanks for sharing emimusic.
+Jason Cook No DeGarmo, no Queensryche-- they've been (un)dead but not worth listening to ever since he quit working with them. It's a telling point that almost all the classic songs that Wilton/Rockenfield/Jackson want to reach back to were either written by Chris DeGarmo or inescapably show his influence... and even the name of the band is drawn from one of DeGarmo's songs.
THE BEST FRONT MAN? HMMMM....LETS THINK OF A FEW, MICK JAGGER, ALICE COOPER, MICHEAL JACKSON, ELVIS AND AXL ROSE, THERE ARE FIVE THAT ARE ALL BETTER FRONTMEN, I DIDN'T SAY BETTER SINGERS BUT THEY ARE BETTER FRONTMEN.......SORRY, I KNOW YOU HAVE A CRUSH AND ALL........
Never will unfortunately. Tate burned his bridges with the rest of the band, then ran over the smouldering ashes with a tank, just to be sure. The new singer is pretty damn good, so I'm just glad we still have Queensryche in some form.
ooh man this is what it's all ABOUT,the image matched the music, the band matched the name & the young Tate's vocals matched his ATTITUDE.....this is RUSTFREE METAL at it's best cannot be beaten & cannot be duplicated period!!!!early 'ryche roolz
Great song off a great album. Love this jam. Cool video too 😎. . Oldie but goodie here. . Back in the day. Love me some old school QUEENSRYCHE 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
+MantiaRyche Actually, DeGarmo's last full album was Hear In The Now Frontier, and he cowrote and played guitar for several tracks on Tribe. IMO, now that I've gone back and listened to it with fresh ears, Hear In The Now Frontier is a pretty good album-- shame it got dissed for not sounding like a repeat of the preceding albums (gotta admit I didn't give it a fair chance back then, but I'm listening to it now). On the other hand, I've been trying to keep an open mind in re-appraising the many albums of "Tate-Ryche" and the new albums of "LaTorre-Ryche" (as well as Tate's efforts with 'Operation: Mind Crime')-- and I'm just not finding anything worth bothering with in any of it since DeGarmo quit. Seems to me like Queensryche's dead and has been dead for a long time-- there's just a semi-animated zombie that keeps shambling along trying to insist it's still the same band (but it's not).
Bad ass. I've never heard this song before, but it looks really old, like, before Operation Mindcrime. I like it. And despite the goofy leggins and hair, the video itself has kind of a raw, old-school feel to it that's pretty flippin' suh-weet.
I'm a Queensryche fan and proud of it (I wear a back patch of their EP logo every day) but I still gotta say...there was a reason "This is Spinal Tap" got made, and videos like this were definitely part of the reason. That said, great song! The "Live in Tokyo" version smokes a big fatty on the album version though. During the "Tokyo" rendition you can hear how hard Scott Rockenfield totally fucking killed it on drums.
my all time favorite number one song! I don't need coffee in the morning all I need to do is play this song volume 11 and I am instantly motivated for the day the rush is so great!-'' Thank you Queensryche ''!!!
I never knew they had a video for this song. And as long as I've known and listened to this song (34 YEARS) I swear the laugh in the intro sounds EXACTLY LIKE Ozzy to a T; I always wondered if it was "sampled" into the song; but have never read nor heard that it was
@MrBroodjewarmvlees I had a metal bass line book in the early 90s that had a picture of Steve Harris wearing a Queensryche shirt! Wish I could find that picture again
This song kicks ass! Queensryche were still finding out who they were, Geoff is singing like Bruce Dickinson, and the song definitely is a nod to Iron Maiden, but they do it so well they can get away with it.
@Pharmakon7 if it's the book i'm thinking of it's called Heavy Metal Bass Lines(I had the same book) came out around 84/85 had bass lines in it from Madien/Priest/Kiss/Def Lepp/Ozzy and Quiet Riot!!

Easily one of my favorite songs by Queensryche. That damn solo hits the spot every time.

You're not wrong...USPM was the TRUE metal of the 80s! Ryche, Manilla Road, Helstar, Omen, Cirith Ungol, Savage Grace, Heir Apparent...
I was born in 1967, so in all actuality we have been a Metal Heads as long as there has been Metal.😅😂🤘🏼🤘🏼😊
one of the best singers of all time , especially in this era the 80 s long live geoff tate.

totally agree. And The Warning is equally as awesome, too!
I wish he was still with queensryche he is a great vocalist definitely one of the best
One of the coolest Heavy Metal songs by one of the coolest bands.
Everyone loves the Operation Mindcrime era but this era is my favorite!!!
Sextina Aquafina -QR now is Wilton’s band and he wrote most of the EP. Super immature if you ask me, but to each one’s own.
Hell yeah... Great era...
I have to agree.. this was them at there best.
The Mindcrime fans of the band likely dont even own the first 3 records the EP Warning and Rage for order are the best Queensryche records for me.
every body forgets the warning and rage for order
80s + True Metal, Forever!!
From 1983 until 1990, Geoff Tate was UNTOUCHABLE.
A voice nobody could touch besides RJD.
I'd argue until 1991, but yeah, Geoff's voice was so damn good.

's my favorite though.
I hear so much Halford in his screams

No Tate. No Degarmo. No Ryche.
They were the opening band at my first concert. Supporting this EP. I was hooked.

Original line up reunion - Tate - DeGarmo - Rockenfield - Wilton - Jackson.
MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!
