I do a TON of shopping for soap supplies online and eBates lets you get rebates at nearly every major online retailer, including Amazon, eBay, and Etsy. I literally save money just by opening up a tab in my browser via their link. I have already received a check from them within the first month so I just thought I would let you guys know about this since we soap makers and DIYers buy so much online! Plus, it's free! Yippee! :D

Whenever Caleb and I travel, we try our best to stay in Airbnbs. It's WAY cheaper than getting hotels and are often more personalized, comfy, and unique. We literally have stayed in absolutely amazing, private homes for $35 a night! You can use the link below to get $40 travel credit when you sign up. :)

When I was in pastry school, for a class we had to basically create an entire desert buffet. And one of my items were Lavender Macaron. And they were just heavenly, and absolutely delightful. The shells themselves weren't flavored lavender, but had little sprinklings of lavender buds on the top of the cookies. And the inside which had an Italian merengue buttercream that was flavored with Lavender essence. They were just delightful, and I feel like one of my very best works in my time in pastry school. Just thought I'd share that.
Lavender flavour is quite hard not to go overboard with! I made a simple syrup out of it once and even though I barely used any oil it was INTENSE
So, I went to find what I actually used. Because I still have it in my cupboard. It's Natural Lavender Flavor, came in a large set of different flavors. Just smelling it, it's very light, and mostly smells like alcohol tbh.
Aaahhhh ok, that’s probably better than what I used, since I literally used ingestable lavender essential oil
UnderstandablyCliche that sounds awesome! I’m no professional chef or anything but I do love to bake, and my signature recipe I always talk about is my tarts. They’re an almond flour crust with a strawberry lime and hibiscus custard filling and then toasted meringue on top. I also always add a slice of lime as garnish 🤤
I ended up actually dropping out of pastry school with only one course left. It was just a toxic environment, and I was told that this was the way it was in the industry. So, I said, well if that's how it is in the industry, I don't want to be in it. My specialty is the french macaron, I actually made macaron as wedding favors for my wedding. One cookie for each of the three of our wedding colors. Everyone was very impressed, until they realized how much food dye was actually in them.
Nice twist!! Lavender is my favorite flower/fragrance!
I have a funny request: i saw your post on instagram about your daughter's 1st birthday coming up soon. Can you make not 1 but 2 soaps that reminds you of that 1st year? Not a baby birthday soap but example: a 1st tooth soap that smells like mint, or something related to a memory
I’m the same way. I don’t like lavender but when it’s mixed with something it can be great. I suggest trying Lemon Lavender by Natures Garden. Oh man!!!!!!!! It’s a good one!!!!
That sounds divine!!!
can't stand lavender either hehem but the soap is pretty
YAS m grabdma use to make a lavender lemonade drink and it always smelled sooooooo good.
Never apologize for Lilly being noisy. She adorbz and that’s ok. Lol!
My problem isnt starting projects... but finishing them lol. I have so many 1/2 done projects.
Saaaaame! I jump around projects a lot, haha
Yes. Too many ideas, not enough something to finish them all. Lack of experience? Fear? Not having the right supplies in the moment? I don’t even know why on some projects. 🤷🏻♀️
Dulcie Hostetler my biggest issue is would people be interested in buying after I’ve made them especially soap but I guess it’s no use worrying . Just keep creating
Last year I had this idea for making necklaces and when I first thought of it, I thought "theres no way //I// can do this". fast forward to now and i've made a TON and everyone thinks they are super unique and I love making them. I had to learn how to cast items in silicone, make my own pendant molds, and use and color resin properly along with how to gloss them. I didn't think i could do all that but it only took a little bit of time and patience to do it! follow ur dreams!!!!
SO COOL!!! I only just discovered resin charms and I think they are SUPER FUN and adorable! I'd love to see your work!
mongaloogirl My Etsy shop is bubbleblitz, i have some on there! Not a huge selection up right now but i have a ton more in the works 😄
Just followed your shop! I got a question: Do you know if your necklace chains are nickel-free?
Taylor Swomp My supplier lists them as “metal zinc alloy”, thats all i know 😅
It would probably be safer for me to get it without the necklace then and use my own, then. I'm pretty allergic to nickel.
If that's an option, next time I get paid I am definitely getting a wax seal pendant! Those are so awesome and such a great idea
I absolutely love lavender, it helps so much and relaxes. My idea for soap is that striped marble combo with harry potter house themes. Green/black for slytherin, yellow/black for hufflepuff. Would be cool with the new movie coming out in November, could do a butter beer smell to
Then you can hand them out randomly like the sorting hat and it would be the house that was chosen for you.
SHE SCRAPEY SCRAPEY THE CONTAINEY omg that makes me so happy that she says that its just so pure 💖
That opening! Gonna make me cry! Thank you for being that awesome support!!! I hope people push through and take that first step because of you
Samantha Williams so touching
Nice tip with the lavender buds, I tried using the once and they looked like mouse turds on my soap 😂😂
I would love to see a lemon and blueberry soap or a sleeping beauty inspired soap!!!!
Weird idea: a sweater patterned top of a cashmere scented soap?? I don’t even know if that’s possible but I think it sounds cute for fall
Oh gosh yes!! Please draw up a soap design, and mail it to her. She'll probably make it if she sees it.
Tiffany oh I didn’t even think of that!! Time to break out my drawing tablet!
@@linlupin Good luck, and hope she uses it!!!
That message at the beginning is really helpful!
I have been watching you for over a year but only just started making soap a month ago which was triggered by something you said in a video. Knowing that you were my age when you started creating and selling soap was really encouraging to me, since a lot of soap makers on CZcams are older women who have more money and resources.
I've had so much fun creating soap and can't wait until I have enough products to open an Etsy shop.
Thank you!
Oh oh oh! AND I think you should do a black and white marbled soap with a black “medium top”, I guess is what you would call it. With just three dollops of soap on top with some gold Mica to look like gold leaf on some of the tops!!! I think that would be soooo pretty!!!
Oh my God Katie....thank you for that message. I have been contemplating an etsy shop....and I think I will do it. I have a lot of work ahead of me. :)
Jinxy Doll what are you selling? :)
@@rosie4queen following Katie's guidance. Starting with soap and eventually expanding to more products and some other crafts.
@@jinxydoll OMGosh I literally just started an etsy shop today after hesitating to start one for so long. Just finally taking that first, wobbly step is a huge weight off of your chest. Let's both do our best!
@@LovelessYayaoi heck yes!! Send me your shop name and I'll follow! Mine will be Spellbound Soaps!
@@jinxydoll my shop is "Dirty Otaku" 😂😂😂 I'll be looking out for you soon!!
So love getting alerts of ur videos. My kids and i love watching you. Now my 12 year old makes soaps ❤❤❤ from NEW ZEALAND
Our Westcoast Family nz hey I’ve been doing the same thing ( I’m also 12🤗)
I'm in Auckland. Do glad to see another kiwi watching one of my most favourite soapers. Xoxo
@@moodybloomscraftsandfloral hay I'm in the south island on the westcoast. Love watching her
I’m in NZ too! In Hamilton! Well Katie, you have quite a kiwi following. Maybe y’all could do a kiwi inspired soap! I’ve had some lovely kiwi fruit scented soaps!
that intro was totally needed. my business launches in 3 weeks and everything that could go wrong so far, has. I was debating just stopping this close to the finish line, but you just helped me keep pushing through. thank you!!!
Katie, you are literally so inspirational! I love watching your videos because you always push people (and myself) to do things they never would have in the first place! I love you! Keep doing you and don’t let anyone steal your shine!
Beautiful, beautiful soap, Katie! Wish I could enjoy lavender, but I'm allergic to it, myself. I sure do love seeing what people do with it. Thankfully there's no smell-o-vision yet and I can still enjoy the heck out of this video, LOL!
I really agree with the intro. No one is born a master at anything. And the best part about being a beginner is you can only go up from there! As you progress in whatever art or craft you choose, you'll only get better. You should only compare yourself to YOUR previous work, not others' works. I've tried so many crafts and, though I never master any of them, I always feel proud of what I've made because only I could have created it that way.
I absolutely love your positive outlook, you're always encouraging your viewers to try new things and experiment and I think that's so sweet of you!
I need this in my life 24/7. Soaps. Candles. Lotion. Everything.
I resisted learning how to do yarn crafts for years (mum tried to teach me to knit as a sprog and it didn't take). In the last 2 weeks I've taught myself to crochet from watching videos and looking up how-to blogs and now I can make beanies, face cloths, dish scrubbers, flowers and granny squares.
On the other side of things, I've been a sewing instructor for the last year and the majority of my students are ladies in their 40's-60's looking to make things for themselves and their grandchildren. I love teaching beginners because I get to see the moment when things click and they get really excited about trying new things on their own.
I really hope you never lose your positivity! You share that attitude with Lily and all of us! Thank you for being so encouraging! Someday, I’ll have some extra cash and be able to really support you! :)
YAS, Duchess, YAS! Hand crafting is so important! I’ve crocheted for 24 years, among other things, and it’s been worth it.
I love your comments about being crafty. I picked up crochet after not doing it for 30+ years and I have been making baby blankets for all my friends 1st babies. It is so rewarding to create something beautiful. I have also been doing some melt and pour soaps too 😉
Thanks Katie!! Thanks for inspiring us. Never take you fan/hate mail too seriously....always with a sprinkle of salt!! The public is so fickle. Glad you are you.
I made cold process for the first time a few days ago! I've been wanting to for years but never took the plunge. After watching just about EVERY video on your channel I went to Hobby Lobby and got a few things. Now I've made 2 soaps and am about to order fragrances and micas to take it to the next level! Thanks for being such an inspiration Katie💕
I am not a lavender fan when it comes to smell but I love it's healing properties. This soap, however, is BEAUTIFUL!! ETA that I love how you encourage others! You are truly a light in this world!
Omgsh I LOOOOOOVE your opening comment. I knit and do my own gel nails. I started out using cheap crap off ebay, the first year they looked like crap, now they look professional. Same with my knitting, I started out with squares and plain Jane scarves. Today I'm finishing up a beautiful cardigan sweater. You can do it!!! Start somewhere and be proud of yourself!!!!!
I’m not crafty, but let me tell you, I have been doing things for me on my days off. Like reading a book or going for a drive and getting “lost.” You’re a good egg. Thank you for being so positive 🤗
Thank you for that message. I do so many crafts but I enjoy them. I love making stuff for other people. I do.... plastic canvas, paper sculpting (discovered this last year accidentally), diamond painting, used to dabble in cake decorating, and now I'm teaching myself cookie decorating with royal icing. I also like to design houses occasionally.
I loooove how pretty this bar was, the marbling style was so lovely. I don't really enjoy lavender, in fact I find it far too overwhelming, but I would looove to see this design make it's way into some other scents!
Thank God...my favorite floral scent of all time!!! I will buy at least 4 of these whenever your store has them!!!
I adore lavender!!! Ever since I got your Beauty and the Beast inspired soap I have been obsessed with Rose as well.
I would LOVE a Lavender Rose scented soap!!!
I love how you have conversations with the viewers every episode but never get political. You don't shame anyone for there opinions unlike so many other youtubers.
Keep on being awesome 👍
I think Lily is the luckiest lil girl in the whole world. To have you and Caleb as parents. She is SO loved !
I love lavender. to me it feels so soothing and relaxing, and with my anxiety it really helps a lot. you have no idea how much i needed to watch one of your videos today. your voice is so soothing and relaxing and its so nice to listen to you talk about little things in your life.
Katie, you are truly an inspiration. I thought about making soap for quite some time before I began. Your videos helped to convince me to give it a go. I have only been soaping for just over one year now as a hobby and absolutely love the create outlet soaping provides. Thank you for sharing your soap making and being so positive and inspiring.
You’re one of the most beautiful people I’ve ever had the please of watching on this site, I love the work you do as well as how happy you always seem to be. You’re encouraging and kind and it’s incredible to watch you in you’re zone doing what you love. I wanted to tell you that I think you’re great and to keep doing what you’re doing because it’s amazing.
Much thanks to you for the inspiration. I made my first soap last week. It was just an oatmeal milk and honey made with rebatch from bramble berry- but it’s a start. And it is all because you showed me I could. Keep teaching and inspiring. You are making a difference.
Thanks to you
I have been buying oils one by one for soap making
Aww!! I love hearing a happy child! Thank you for the reminder to create and not just watch! ❤️
Pretty!
You could do a back to school soap. Maybe one with an apple 🍎 scent for teacher or a peanut butter and jelly 🍇 scent like for snack time. :)
SweetJeann this needs more likes so she sees it! I love this idea!
K Peffercorn Thank you! Yes! I need more likes 😀✔✅✔✅✔✅✔✅✔✅
Hey Katie! I have been watching you for a couple weeks now getting caught up on soap making and getting various ideas for my own small soapmaking business. You are so inspiring not only because you come up with some amazing and beautiful soaps, but because you do it with such a positive attitude and telling others they can and should get hands on with whatever crafts they are interested in. Just wanted to send some positivity your way since you are always so kind and positive with your videos. 😊
A couple of years ago I decided to finally make my own plushies (I’m obsessed with them). I started with buying just felt sheets and sewing by hand. I’ve come such a long way! I use a sewing machine and use both fleece or minky for my plushies ♥️
I adore lavender. It is called the "go to" essential oil for many because of all the healing properties it possesses. I love the scent blended with peppermint or lemongrass too! Some of the best soap I've ever made was with lavender blends! Yours is gorgeous!! 😙
Katie thanks for encouraging people to try a craft of some sort. Everyone has creativity in them they just need to discover it . Have a blessed day 😊❤️👍
Thank you for your opening monologue. I am avid crafter but I've not done anything in years. I have just received my first M&P kit and cold process kit so I can try soap making out! I so enjoy your videos and have found so much info from them! Thank you!!!
You're so sweet and encouraging! ❤️
Your enthusiasm for what you do really inspires me to just jump into candle making and stop debating over the if's, how's, and when's! I hope I could learn how to make interesting candles like all your soaps!
I used to combine a lot of lotions and soaps to get combo scents, and I really enjoyed lavender and orange blossom! 🌸
I grow (tons)... of lemon grass as well. I dry them out and then add into my cold process Soaps.
WHY DO I LOVE WATCHING THESE SO MUCH??
Your positive attitude and the feel good vibes are very appreciated but like... I have zero interest in soap making at all and can just binge this channel.
Keep up the good work, you're awesome.
I love lavender. My favorite combinations are lavender and vanilla or lavender, vanilla, and sandalwood~
I LOVE LAVENDER 😍😍 lemon lavender, rose lavender, spruce and lavender ARE AMAZING 😍 LOVE YOUR TALENT 😍😍
One of my absolute favorite soaps you've made for the look as well as the fragrance is your Boxws of Foxes! love love love it.
I also tend to find the smell of lavender too overpowering, but in the recent search for more ways to fight the multi-day headaches I can get, someone recommended mixing lavender and peppermint essential oils to use in a diffuser. Low and behold, it helps! I imagine that scent mix in a soap to combine with shower steam would be magic.
I always felt like picking up a "big" hobby like pottery or soap making would be too much for me but by chance got a magazine from my local parks and recreation center and they had an absolute beginners pottery class and a soap making class so I dove in! And I loved it. I really suggest checking your local parks and rec center because they have so many community classes where you can try something without buying a whole setup and going in blind
Your message at the beginning of the video was just what I needed to hear today. I've just started into soap making and I am using Melt and Pour. I actually got inspired by your videos! Lately, I've been feeling inferior in what I'm making so that message is helping me so much. Thank you so much!
For someone who doesn't like lavender, you make amazingly beautiful lavender bars!!
Lavender and vanilla is one of my favorite scent combination. If you haven't tried "secret island" from nurture soap, I recommend it. It's a vanilla scent that will combine with lavender essential oil beautifully, especially in lotion.
I totally agree with everything you said about handmaking and artistry! I'm a seamstress by trade, and while I love that people find what I make beautiful and unique, if you have basic motor skills (and not everyone does, but most people do)- you can learn to sew!
With almost every by hand creative skill you need 3 steps!
1. Do your research.
2. Practice (and accept that not everything will be perfect everytime).
3. Seek guidance from others.
I loved the intro!
I agree, making something with your hands feels really great, and I think there's a crafty hobby out there for everyone.
There's a lot of crafting I"m pretty bad at lol. Drawing, painting, sewing, those paper crafts, not my thing. But I LOVE knitting. I learned when I was 12, and I was pretty darn terrible at it for a while, but I stuck with it and now I can do pretty intricate stuff that I really love. And I even have a fondness for my old stuff, there's charm and character there. It's just nice to be able to have something you made yourself.
Point is, there's a craft out there for everyone. Just give something a try and stick with it!
I really love to watch your videos while knitting! It's so calming and I love the things you said about how if you're thinking of starting a craft you should take that first step and do it - I never thought I'd be able to knit because it basically looked like wizardry but I took that first step and learnt from a friend and now knitting is one of my favourite hobbies. (If anyone wants to know, I am knitting a simple shawl. The instruction is 'Yarn over, knit to the end of the row.')
Lavender and sage smell fantastic together. Love your videos.
Never apologize for a happy baby sound...I love it
Lavender is actually my favorite scent ever. Vanilla is a close second
a simple design but still looks so pretty, I love itttt
Love the color of the bar it looks like a lovely cup of tea.
I love mixing Lemongrass & French Lavender EOs for my personal soaps, body lotions and even lip balms.
My sister, my mom and I actually made lavender soap this weekend! We were inspired by the video you did with your mom using a soap kit and my sister has always wanted to make soap!
I love lavender scents personally. I get it from my mom. I would love an Earl Grey tea soap too! It’s one of my favorite scents.
I use to HATE lavender but made a lavender soap with eo because everyone always asked for it and I was surprised how much I liked it in soap..my new fav cleaning product is lavender Mrs Myers.
Strawberry cupcake soap 💖
Oooooh autumn pumpkin vanilla and cinnamon soap🎃
Black cherry soap 😍😍😍😍💕
(Lol I made myself hungry)
Just wanted to say thank you Katie for inspiring me to start making soap. Yours were the first soap making videos that I watched and I was hooked. I’m old enough to be your mom but I’m not too old to learn something new. Keep it up and keep inspiring.💗
I can smell the lavender from this video!!! I love it!
Lily's baby joy is awesome and infectious! Love hearing it!
Hi Katie!
Please show us your silicone mold collection. And another soap embed diy.
🖤 your videos! What about morning glory soap? Dark purple and dark blue with heart leaves vines on top? 💙💚💛💜
I love this idea!!!!
What I like to do for myself is make soaps, love the look of your lavender vanilla soap. Thanks for sharing.
I love lavender! It's a very important smell to me and it reminds me of my grandmother's old house
Lavender and lemon wound make an amazing French Provincial soap ;) it’s such a delightful combination
Yes! I'm actually really digging the lavender and honey from b&bw right now, even.
There is a body massage oil I used to get from Bath and Body works I loved and would adore seeing you make into a soap! Jasmine Vanilla! The combo is so wonderful and Jasmine is my favorite botanical scent! Beautiful soap as always my queen!
Katie, I love how pretty this soap is. I'm allergic to lavender so I won't be able to order it. Maybe you could do a sunflower soap.
I've tried a few different lavender vanilla fragrance oils but my most favorite is by Rustic Escentuals. It has a baby powdery scent that smells so good. They also make one called lavender mist that has a calming clean scent that is wonderful too.
You've never made me want to buy a soap from you more than the rose quartz, my favorite scent ahh, its beautiful
Lavender is my all time favorite scent!
Lavender, Vanilla, and peppermint is a really nice combo too
I crochet and I love it!!! I made each one of my three children blankets and a few friend's babies blankets.
Thanku 4 the intro katie i really needed to hear that today. I lost my mom suddenly awhile ago and lost all spark for soaping so iv just been gathering inspiration from other places. I think im ready to start creating again.
The timing of that opening discussion is so wild... For a good long while I've always wanted to start up an etsy shop, but was always worried about not having interesting enough items or all the fancy tech to make nice pictures. It kept me from trying to sell my creations for a very long time, despite the encouragement of people around me.
... Well, today I just listed my first item! :D
There's a lot I feel I could improve on with just this one... my photos aren't the prettiest even after editing and my social media feed makes me look like an absolute nobody, but at one point I just told myself "done is better than perfect", and now I have to keep reminding myself that a business is a process and as long as I keep putting in the effort, things will improve. I won't lie and say that it isn't all a little scary, but just taking that first step gave me a lot of confidence. (I even got a few likes on instagram today!!)

Awesome soap Katie! Lavender is my best seller! I'm also always creating new designs and have books full of ideas. I have my sketchbook right by the bed, LOL. I love making soap and sharing the love.
So I dont really comment on videos. But I just had to today to say thank you! I was having a hard time finding out what I wanted to do in life and I found your videos while looking for a hobby. Thanks to you and how infectious your personality is and how informative you are I actually started making my own soaps and other products. I even did some collage classes. So thank you so much for sharing your videos! And helping me find something I really enjoy in life. You really are the soap dutchess!
I love Lilly! She’s soooo cute! Every time we see/hear her it gives me baby fever 😂
loved the starting talk. actually doing my first cross stitch and binge-watching your vids.
Love you so much katie. Your so inspiring and I would really like to start soap making, but I don't have alot of money to spare. Could you do a melt and pour soap that could be high quality but still cost efficient. Video idea?
Thank you for the message upfront. I completed my first cold process soap today. Thank you again!!
I mentioned in another comment in a different video that I've been binging your videos and it's really sparked my interest in picking up yet another hobby! I have tried melt and pour before and it was OK, but what you do with cold process has really inspired me to give this a try. This intro especially had be scheming to try and try my hand at soap making.
Your intro was so awesome!! I made my first ever cold process soap yesterday and can't wait to be able to unmold it. I can't believe how much I learned from one tiny batch. I look forward to nailing down my own recipe to use to sell soap, but for now I will stick with your amazeballs recipe!!
