This track is an insane barn burner!
Omg… Eddie Van Halen was out of his mind .. in a freakishly badass, wicked, bitchin’ way! Listen to all the gtr heroics he puts in one song! And he invented most of them! I’d say at least 3-4 are in this song.
There’s probably a couple dozen techniques on VH 1 that were never heard before!
Kick ass on drums and now on guitar! Way to go Brian!
Brian man... damned you play it so well.. a monster on drums and monster on guitar
It’s rare to see an equally talented drummer and guitar player. Nice job 👍🏻
It was 1978, Anaheim Stadium in California. The list of bands were as follows: Opening was Sammy Hagar, then Van Halen, Black Sabbath, and Boston...all top notch acts. When VH came on stage second, they started their set with, "On Fire!" It was ground breaking. Sabbath & Boston had ZERO chance of topping, or even equaling, Van Halen.
Is this Brian Tichy that played drums with Ozzy on Ozzfest 2000 with Joe Holmes, and Robert Trujillo???? IF SO HOLY SHIT!!! What a musician PERIOD!! BADASS!!
I've interviewed Brian, we talked drums. I'm a guitar player, and had I known at the time (around 2018?) I definitely would have talked guitar with the man! Brian you are a killer player!
I’m coming to the conclusion that Ed’s real skill was rhythm writing and playing, more so than solos.
I agree. Not a very original soloist.😂
@@OldRunt I know, sounds wacky.
Been getting into some of his early work, and starting to discover his writing (at least to me) is more unique and interesting than his guitar solos.
He played rhythm, lead, riffs and noises. I think it his riffs and noises that set him apart.
But yeah, great rhythm player too.
Seen a similar comment praising Jimi Hendrix’s rhythm guitar skills on a cover of his performance of Like A Rolling Stone at Monterey Pop.
I love comments like these because it shows people appreciating something that might go unacknowledged if someone is more well known for other things, in this case their lead playing.
I welcome anyone to check out George Harrison’s rhythm guitar playing too. There might be an isolated version available on CZcams of his rhythm playing from the rooftop concert, since, for at least a few songs, John Lennon took the lead and George supports him with nifty rhythm playing.
Good job 👍
Monster drummer, monster guitarist. Let’s see some P&G riffing next. 😊
Soaring. Love the reverb on main thread
You straight up kick ass man , absolutely great job 🇺🇸👍🏆.
Goddamn, I had no idea you could rip on guitar. Killing it.
Great cover ! God ..Those fucking click eetee clicks drove me insane for years..I couldn't make it sound right no matter what I tried..then I saw a guy named Dough Steele here on you tube showing where they were and I almost shit my pants...keep in mind that I've had been trying since 1979 when I was a teen and bought Van Halen first album . I love CZcams for that !
Killed it bro 🤘⚡️🤘
Dang! Saving this one to my lessons folder. I'll use it when I start tackling this one. It was the perfect opening salvo for the VH1 tour. Imagine people's mind being blown with this blazing song! Thanks for sharing your guitar prowess with us, Brian! Skins and Strings all the way!
Awesome tone, feel, phrasing- everything! I am a fan since the Pride & Glory days, man- well done- Happy New Year!
Dude…!!! WTF? Very cool. You be freaky good my good man! Not beard an EVH cover that matched the tone and feel as well as you.
Great guitar playing Brian!! I already knew that you're an excellent drummer, from the previous bands you were in...but I didn't know that you ripped on guitar too!!?? Nice!! 🤘🤘🤘
This song is so incredibly atomic!!!
nailed it , Sammy should have asked Brian
Great cover. This is a barn burner.
The latest thing I heard Eddie take credit for was the signature background vocals and the high-pitched singing that everybody assumed was Mike. He says it was actually him. Pretty much Eddie did everything according to Eddie. I don't think there was anybody else on any of the albums except Eddie. According to Eddie that is.
that was sick
One of the most Metal Songs in History.
This is so awsome ! Greetings from Pamama :D
Nailed it!
God bless you, your tone and EVH!!! My god that was flawless! 🔥🎸
One of your commenters said he'd like to see some "Pride & Glory" stuff...I'D like to see a drum and/or guitar cover of "Toe N The Line"! That was my introduction to you as a drummer, & Zakk's talent beyond Ozzy stuff. By the way, I'm from Jersey also (New Brunswick/Somerset) & I've never known anyone to be as obsessed with learning music, as us Jersey guys! (Nashville is a VERY close 2nd) Happy New Year, fellow "home boy"!
Sick ! Dude efn nailed it
Beautiful work 💯
Excelente!
Lovely
KILLER JOB! EXCELLENT
That’s really well done. What are you using for your tone?
@@YoBroMan I have a modded Marshall 800, and an original 5150. I can’t remember but I think I used the marshal for this , w a boss super overdrive , level all the way / tone all the way down , and gain up to like 9pm..thanks!
@@YoBroMan thanks! I think I used my modded Marshall 800, from the 90’s , with a super overdrive pedal , level all the way up , tone all the way down , gain to like 9pm
@@Briantichydrums Any idea what the mod is?
@@YoBroMan I’m pretty sure it was to add a little more gain overall … it was done before I bought it …
@@Briantichydrums It really sounds great. You should just play some iso guitar and talk about your setup. :)
Killer!!
Awesome
tight.
Nice Job Tish
Rain of likes!!!
🎯👍🎸🔥
Still sounds great
Yah you nailed it brother
Most powerful
Nothing else to say apart from 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
He'll yea! Sounds good. Does Eddie tune his guitar in A as well?
Thx.. this is tuned to Ab. DLR era VH was 1/2 step down except for a couple tunes and most, if not all of 1984 ..
Where'd you get that shirt?
