    Awesome!!! This is by far the best design for retractable casters on a metal table that I have seen. I can also see making most of the components out of wood to be used on a woodworking workbench. I am not easily impressed, but you have done it. Thank you for making this video.

    Great design concept, I’m going to adapt it to my workbench. Thank you for your 3D video

      I want to add to my comments, I’m a retired mechanical design technologist with “Autodesk Inventor”, I see where you’re coming from.

    Could you show in the video the table moving in a rounded motion with swivelling casters?

    Hi, do you have a tutorial in solidworks on how you make and assemble the retractable caster wheels?? Badly need it for academic purposes. Thankyou in advance

    Is this available in the market ?
    Is there anyone who can make these for us ?

    What’s the size of the Cam and what’s the lifting capacity of this design? Thanks in advance

    • @3dmechanicaldesign
      @3dmechanicaldesign  Před 2 lety

      The lifting capacity of cam mechanisms depends on the cam diameter, handle length and cam material.
      Longer handle - will increase the load capacity, less friction, the load capacity of the table will also be increase .
      you can google the formula

    What material would the cam be made of ? That can withstand the load of the table itself ? Thank you

    • @3dmechanicaldesign
      @3dmechanicaldesign  Před 3 lety

      The material of the cams may vary depending on the weight of the table and the conditions of use.
      The cams used in most machines are made with metal, although certain equipment also uses a variety of synthetic materials. Common materials include various steel alloys such as high and low carbon steel, nylon and polypropylene.

    this is a good design for a home shop or something but bad for a manufacturing. This doesn't take into account the weight of the table so when you got to take the table off the wheels, the arm will come flying up cause of the cam system and smack, trap a body part in between the table and arm or just cause general injury to the person using it. it could be caused be negligence or lack of strength of the operator.

  • @SJG-96

    Will this design be capable of lifting a fully loaded 800 lb workbench ?

    The green bolt should remain in a stationary position when the cam action bar is rotated/lowered to elevate the table.
    3D video should be corrected to reflect the realistic action.

    • @3dmechanicaldesign
      @3dmechanicaldesign  Před 2 lety +1

      Green is not a bolt, these are quick release pins used to hold the handle.

    • @SJG-96
      @SJG-96 Před 2 lety +1

      @@3dmechanicaldesign , I know that, that’s not what was referring to. When you look closely at the cam roller when the handle position is pushed downwards the “supposed to be stationary bolt holding the cam roller to the table leg, is actually moving.

      As for my application (workbench) the moving leg (with the foot that the casters are attached to) I have to modify that part because I’m using 5” swivelling casters, requiring a “4 3/8” turning radius
